Shelled turbines are no good, but.....

This is why I was stuck in St John's (Canada) on 9/11. I was running the St John's ESTA-fiesta for my squadron coming back from a Bosnia rote; one of the planes shelled a turbine at St John's, so we were stuck with the sick bird and were in the midst of the engine change on 9/11. I have unfortunately lost my pics of the St John's IAP ramp on 9/11 and the days after - it was ABSOLUTE madness and chaos...

However, there are MUCH worse places to be stuck for a while!

One of my buds working the floor at TACC wickered us a clearance back to The Rock within a few days. We were the first plane to cross back into the States from up north. I've never heard the Eastern seaboard so quiet. Just us and the occasional CAP sortie / tanker chatter the entire flight home; ATC was quite bored. Home just in time to sit a bunch of Alpha and Bravo alerts :flag_waving:
