Fozzy Bear Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 (edited) Right now sitting in the chow hall - sorry, DFAC, at Dhafra, is an E-8 training airmen. The job - sitting at a dining table, watching to make sure everyone signs in, uses sanitizer, and doesn't bring in contraband; the last of which we got busted for. In an attempt to get a fast to-go plate before racking out for crew rest, my Nav dropped his plastic shopping bag by the door. Big mistake. We got a five minute lecture from a senior NCO about following the rules. Also, evidently, escorts on an AEF cycle aren't allowed to interfere (help) the locals whatsoever. An airman is an escort in the dining facility and has a catering business back home. She regularly made every type of cobbler and coffee cake imaginable, just cause she could - friggin sweet; til someone found out it was her, not the locals, and made her stop. This may be melodramatic, but at this point, it's the little things that piss me off. Edited March 30, 2007 by Fozzy Bear
vsu8992 Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Are the "I LOVE MATT BUTLER" stickers still up, or have they been stripped away by the Cadilac Nazzis to ??
HuggyU2 Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 For you officers: if you're not having a word with these E's about their demeanor, decorum, or whatever, then you need to. Yes, I've been to Dhafra, and I know it might elevate. But if you're right, and they're out of line, then do something good that you can post on FI.com when you get back. Rant off.
Scooter14 Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Are the "I LOVE MATT BUTLER" stickers still up, or have they been stripped away by the Cadilac Nazzis to ?? Ah, those black and white bumper stickers that were all over the BRA and the laundry area. Oh my God, it's Juan Baca Matt Cahill I Love Matt Butler Stinkin Deputy, second to Knuclehead I have no idea what any of them meant, but I stared blankly at them every day. Still there as of Oct 06.
HerkDerka Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 The whole portfolio is still there. Not to mention the few that were left out. - Friends of Joe Brawdy - Mr. Breakfast - Hey bro, you hookin it tonight? HD
Clayton Bigsby Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Most of those b&w stickers are from stickerjunkie.com - 100 stickers saying whatever you want for 25 bucks. You too could have notoriety like Mike Cahill...or make one that says "SHoE cLeRkS aRE t3h d3vIL!!!" Anyway they're great for plastering at places like that. World's biggest salad bowls in the chow heezy, btw.
Fozzy Bear Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 What happened?!! The Chiefs here are way tamer than what I expected. They made their Fascist forefathers proud at Al Dhafra, jumping on anyone if one sock was dirtier than the other. Here, I think you guys coming before me ragged 'em out - cause we keep pushing it and haven't heard a peep; with the exception of one first shirt lecturing me on my mirrored (and dead sexy) aviators. I'm almost dissappointed.

I'm almost dissappointed. I disagree....I just got back from the 'Deid and the caddy was ten steps from my trailer. A freaking chief would sit outside the caddy and tell people to tuck their shirts in at 3 am when you just have to take a leak. Another one came into the ops town gym and shut off the music and said "alright everyone, let's tuck our shirts in." Can you believe that crap? I can't count the number of times guys in my squadron were told to take sunglasses off of their heads.
HerkDerka Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 It depends on how far along the AEF is. There's always the "hit the ground running" phase and the "FIGMO" phase. HD
Fozzy Bear Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 It depends on how far along the AEF is. There's always the "hit the ground running" phase and the "FIGMO" phase. HD Good Point. The AEF JUST started. It took us over a week just to inprocess (versus 12 hours at Dhafra) and I'm still waiting on my ration card - I need a beer DAMNIT!

Guest afdude2018 Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 (edited) I'm at the Deid right now...been here for just over 4 months. I haven't had one beer the entire time I've been here. Those stickers are still up...I catch myself staring at all of them too wondering WTF? Edited June 6, 2007 by afdude2018
Scooter14 Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I'm at the Deid right now...been here for just over 4 months. I haven't had one beer the entire time I've been here. Why the hell not? Next time there may not be any beer, or you may be somewhere dry. Strike while the iron is hot.
Guest afdude2018 Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 (edited) I'd rather go to my room and make the next day come quicker. This is actually the first deployment I've been on I can legally drink so it is really not that important to me to get those "3" drinks in each day. Anyways the AF sucked most of the joy out of drinking for me...got ######ed into working weekend duty on my 21st bday weekend which was also 4th of July weekend...we were at work everyday that weekend even on the 4th. Also today is my wife and I's 1 year anniversary. 6 month deployments are the best when everybody around that got here when you did are already home and you have to go through the headache of dealing with the new people bs...I'll drink when we find out a definite date and time on when we're going home. I've been reading through this thread and a lot of what is being bitched about is still going on over here. uniform nazi's everywhere. They also want us to mention to the rules breakers to fix what's wrong...I don't care how other people are wearing their pt gear. I'm suprised no one has bitched about me wearing XXXXL shorts. The XXL shorts fix like smalls on me and figured what the hell I'm gonna go all out and get the biggest size I can so I don't have to worry about my shorts riding up on my boys when I sit down. Yes they are a little on the big side, but at least they're comfortable. Edited June 6, 2007 by afdude2018

Guest afdude2018 Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 (edited) Then cough up the ration card and share the wealth! I didn't even get one for this month... but enjoy this if you figure a way to get it off the screen and into a glass let me know At least I got my music to keep me sane... Techsan Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 I didn't even get one for this month... but enjoy this if you figure a way to get it off the screen and into a glass let me know You mean you can't get a jack and coke out there? Last time I was there was in 2003, and it was on the menu. It was just the travel size and they would pour it for you...how nice of them.
Scooter14 Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Last time I was there (Oct 06) they had Morgan, Jack, Vodka, Gin, Cuervo with the Brit-style shot dispensers.

I'm one of those guys that likes to drink enough to at least get a good buzz going. Since three drinks gets me nowhere close to that I just stay away from it. Plus when I get back to the states It won't take a lot of alcohol to ...um..you know.. Edited June 9, 2007 by afdude2018
jumangio Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Just wanted to confirm that the Dumbness is still alive! Passed thru the OTBH chow hall yesterday and within 1 min I was reminded to tuck my shirt in by a crusty E-8. Oh did I mention that 3/4 of my shit was already tucked in. The only thing that stopped me from going off was that fact that I was transient!! Boy, I can't wait to deploy in two months!!
Guest afdude2018 Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 That's why you throw an Ambien into the mix. HD That's a solid plan right there! Just wanted to confirm that the Dumbness is still alive! Yup....that sounds like the deid I've come to know the past 4 1/2 months.
HerkDerka Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 I think one of the biggest examples of NSPFness at the Deid is the dog and pony show the skycops host at the end of every AEF. The skycops always set up a little booth where the shoe clerks can come by and get their pictures taken wearing body armor and holding an M-16. The sad part is that you know those people show those pics to their family/friends and drone on about being in the shit. That my friends is the Deid defined. HD
