  1. 2. It is beyond me how he continues to ruin the legacy that he could have had. He just won't shut up. It's too bad that Hoover or Bud Anderson wasn't the first to go supersonic. These two epitomize what a gentleman with a great aviation legacy should be.

  2. That's interesting, because there are a lot of aviators who have no respect for a guy who is a self-important windbag who once accomplished some amazing acts of airmanship but unfortunately eclipsed all of that with his enormous ego.

  3. A guy in our squadron is ordering morale patches that say "No Morale" on them since no morale patches are authorized.

  4. Ok, the simple fact is the new standards suck. But there are loopholes to everything right? So what can we still wear that isn't addressed or is vague and we know it will piss leadership off? I saw a previous post about wearing tan boots with the green flight suit. I'm sure I would get questioned about that. Anything else to boil their skin? Being an O-1, especially in AETC, is pretty awesome. I love the comments that come from asshole Captains with less TIS than me and love pushing studs around because they are finally in charge of something.

  5. I know of a few CP's landings that felt like this...

  6. A year late (to the day) but better late than never... My friend's dad (sitting on L) restored this F-6 (recon variant of the P-51K) "Lil' Margaret" to the condition it was originally flown in by Lt. Col Clyde East (sitting center). You can see the two camera portholes aft of the roundel. Someone in the audience asked him about Olds, and I got this video of his reply. My favorite part of his whole talk went along these lines, when he was talking about flying in the ETO [paraphrased]: East: "Well I was supposed to be doing recon missions, but I got pretty good at dogfights too, and so I became an ace in good time. Well, the squadron commander got kinda mad at me saying that I should be taking pictures, and dogfighting only after the enemy engaged me." [East put on this scheisster smile and then said] "And wouldn't you know it... for the rest of my time in the war, every German I saw attacked me from 6 o'clock high, with the sun at his back..." to the Colonel Oshkosh is a great place...

  7. Would have taken the AF a lot longer than that. And then they would have paid her to come back in 6-9 months later.

  9. Your feelings seem to run a little deeper than mine on this issue. I was just expressing surprise at their change in marketing strategy after all these years, i.e. to produce something that apparently isn't intended to taste like hot sick ass.

  10. Cut it all. If I can get one more bag of gas out of the deal it was worth it.

  11. You can toss the "Technical Expert" term Old Man, shoulda/coulda/woulda been a Warrant. Flyers get pissy with queep shit done or said by Shoes, but will rarely do or act against a disrespectful Enlisted person for fear of getting talked to by a higher ranking Shoe O. I expect Officers period to act like Officers and lead. Confused? Go talk to the USMC, their O's seem understand that ideology, even their flyers. NCO's have better things to do (I.e. making the military run) instead of making uniform corrections you're too to make yourself.
