  1. This shouldn't blow anybody's mind... it is actually a reflection of our entire Air Force and operators should take pride in this fact. Operators just get things done and don't need anyone to hold our hands or solve our problems... thats just who we are. I used to love sitting in Wing Staff meeting and listen to the Wing CC "go around the room" at the end... The MXG, MSG, Med Gp CC's would all have some stupid queep that they would spend 5 minutes babbling about. He would look at the OG and he'd always say, "OG is good, Sir" and the Wing CC would just smile. It was pretty much a not so subtle jab at the others saying, "We've got our shit squared away... you don't ever need to worry about us getting the job done."

  2. The point Davies made was about the french being allies. Not about the giant brass stones it must have taken to fly through Libya's country-wide super MEZ without so much as even NATO to back them up (gasp!). This is not about the bravery of their pilots. This is about the country and its government. As for allies, I suggest you educate yourself. From Eldorado Canyon to Southern Watch to just selling counter-US jammers to anyone wih a checkbook, that country has a long history of being no one's ally but their own.

  4. I almost sounded off here as well (Since I don't know shit about this topic), but I think I get what you mean here. The subtleties of your posts on this topic are enough for me, and I can even imagine having to be in the unit a person like this was in command of. As much as I'd love to hear some stories about the $5 dollar individual, I'd rather just see a person like this pop up from time to time and shake my head in awe, disgust, or whatever.

  8. Anywhere in PACAF. But I've got stage 4 Yellow Fever so my .02 cents comes with a slanted bias, if you will.

  10. This isn't whining at all. These guys provided the best customer satisfaction survey ever. The fact is that they were 100% spot-on with their jokes, and honestly after 10+ years at AUAB there is no reason in the world that the majority of that stuff hasn't been fixed long ago. Oh, and thanks for the lesson in officership. I'll keep it in mind the next time I'm having trouble earning respect from people in the squadron. You're probably right on this one. Here's hoping he's only got a few months left before retirement or a 4-star sponsor somewhere. I'll send him an email tomorrow to see what the fallout has been so far.
