  1. I caught about half of it, very elegant. The man clearly cares. That said, it was obvious that he cares about things that may derail our ability to meet our basic requirements as a service, i.e. budget, readiness, quality of airmen etc. I would put Blues-Monday, for example, at number 1 on his top 10 list of things he probably doesn't give 2 shits about, especially when most of us still get to wear f'ing pajamas to work Tues-Fri. Some complaining from a few airmen about having to dress up one day a week probably doesn't even register on his radar right now. Furthermore, he obviously takes great pride in the privilege to wear the Air Force uniform, flight suit or otherwise, something which a lot of us readily take for granted after a few years. Is he out to make our service better for you and me? Absolutely, but it sounds like he has a different set of criteria by which he will measure improvement. Maybe when/if he succeeds in un-assing our budget he'll take a look a some of the more trivial issues that grate on the force. (unless he addressed any of this stuff in the first half, which I missed. In that case disregard all).

  2. A new heat exchanger design allows air to be cooled from 1,000 deg C to -150 deg C in 1/100 of a second; has the potential to give passenger aircraft cruise speed of mach 5.

  3. Easy, physics! For every Air Force regulation there is an equal and opposite guard waiver. Everyone knows that.

  4. Nevada man dies with $200 in bank, $7M in gold hidden inside home This is how those Dave Ramsey guys who won't use credit cards and live like they're a TSgt when they're a Major usually turn out. Yea, and he never paid any credit card interest either. Good for him!

  5. Precisely where I met my tumbleweed...on the road down to Portales. Only about 20MPH that day, but more than enough to make it appear nearly instantaeously without warning. I was driving my spiffy new 1968 Impala convertable with the top down...my head looked like I'd been sandblasted. I had blood splattered all over the nice new white leather seats. Not huge wounds, but scratched to heck!

  6. If he was a bad guy he missed an awesome opportunity for a story. I imagine it going something like this: So there I was, landing roll at Bagram when I saw a glint in the darkness. Imagine my surprise to see a Taliban wandering the runway holding an AK-47. Since I was already in the flare, using the gun wasn't an option. I put in just a touch of rudder to displace from centerline and caught the bastard right in the eye with the pitot tube. Not wanting to slow ops on a busy runway, I taxied to the chocks with this clown dangling from the pitot tube, well and truly skull######ed. Erratic airspeed indications were a small price to say for this glorious moment. After the walk around, I had the crew chief stencil a smiley face with only one eye on the side of the jet. Then we high fived in slow motion, just like at the end of Tango and Cash.
