  1. If he did, I'm sure the academy geek patrol will rat him out and try to have him expelled for an honor code violation. Then they will have a celebratory marching contest, shoe shining competition and reflective belt inspection where they can give each other demerits in the name of upholding the crucial Air Force standards of dress and appearance upon which the principles of freedom and world-wide democracy rely. At least that's how I imagine life at that ridiculous place.

  5. HOT! Update on Leave Carry over coming at the end of this Fiscal Year - 30 Sep 2013. You have 11 months and 10 days to get down to 60 days unless you have special leave accrual situations. Previous DFAS correspondence stated the DFAS Office of General Counsel had determined that members could carry the max of 75 days forward from 30 Sep 2013 to 1 Oct 2013. From the email below, this has been reversed. OSD General Counsel has determined that members must be down to a max of 60 days leave by 1 Oct 2013 or they will lose leave. Of course, that does not apply to special leave accrual. ___________________________________________________ Subject: Policy and Procedures Update - Revised Extension of Temporary Increase in Leave Carryover TOPIC: Revised Extension of Temporary Increase in Leave Carryover Message 1. This message applies to Active Duty and Reserve/Guard members. 2. Section 504 of the FY 2010 NDAA included a provision extending the maximum leave carryover of 75 days through September 30 2013. Previous guidance (issued May 2010) stated that members could carry up to 75 days forward to October 1, 2013; THAT HAS CHANGED. The DoD Office of General Counsel has determined that members were authorized to carry forward up to 75 days from FY 2012 to FY 2013, but that leave in excess of 60 days as of September 30, 2013, will be lost on October 1, 2013 (FY 2014), unless the law is extended or made permanent. 3. DJMS-AC allowed members to carry forward up to 75 days from September 30, 2012 to October 1, 2012. 4. Members should be informed that leave other than special leave accrual (SLA) in excess of 60 days on October 1, 2012, and any accrued during FY 2013, should be used by September 30, 2013 to avoid losing it. That means that members who carried forward a balance of 75 days in the BR entry on October 1, 2012, will have to use 45 days of leave this year in order to prevent losing leave. Barring any additional changes to the law or policy on the subject, DJMS-AC will be changed to reduce the maximum from 75 days to 60 days, effective October 1, 2013. 5. OUSD (P&R) indicates it is pursuing a statutory extension to the maximum leave carryover, but it has not yet been passed. 6. AF implementing instructions will be published by AFAFO as needed. 7. Removed. 8. Please ensure the widest dissemination. 9. Removed. 10. Removed. DFAS-JFLM/IN Military Pay Operations - Indianapolis (Air Force) Chief, System Liaison & Procedures Division

  6. Picked up a Model 1903A4 sniper rifle clone last week and took it to the range today! Basically this is a Remington 1903A3 rifle with a modified bolt handle, no front or rear sights, Redfied scope base, Redfield vertical split rings, and a 1" Weaver K2.5 scope. The correct scope would be a Weaver 330 (M73B1 I think), but the K2.5 are easier to get and legal for Vintage Sniper according to the CMP rule book. There are some new reproductions out there by Hi-Lux, but I found this K2.5 in a gunshop for $35 versus $300+ for the repro. The guy I bought it from had also put the action in a new 1903 C stock from the CMP. Scope is a little foggy, but easy enough to see the target and get a decent group ( 1 5/8") at 100 yds. We have some gongs set up at 200 yds, so it was fun to sling up in prone and listen to the immediate feedback. Just used some Rem 150gr Cor-Lokt I had, but plan to develop a load soon. Probably start with the Speer 125gr TNT for the 100-200 yd range and then a 168gr of some flavor for the longer ranges with H4895 powder. Vintage Sniper is normally shot at 300 and 600 on the standard High Power targets. Overall, a fun gun and didn't recoil quite as much as I expected for a .30-06. Although, my shoulder is feeling the effects of that steel buttplate. Edit: Forgot to mention the rifle still has the original 8/43 barrel. Also, looking at the picture below, the post reticle in the scope is just as wide as the target black at 100 yds. Very similar to shooting an M16A2, M1, or M14 with iron sights. I need to work on keeping the reticle centered more based on the shots spread out east-west on the target. And a click or two down!

  8. Based on everything you've posted in this thread I'm certain you've never been a member of a flying squadron. You really don't seem to know what a young pilot or navigator should do to better their career. You should probably stop talking.

  9. While you may not be overly impressed with Steve Fossett like I am, your lack of class and disrespect toward someone who gave a ton to aviation,... and was a great guy at the same time,... is disappointing.

  11. Fortunately most flights were pretty decent, and most of them ostracized the douche bags quickly. Just hope you don't have too many fighter pilots in your flight, unless you like practicing dodgeball and dealing with douchery
