  1. Really? What's with some of the clowns on here demanding footnoted term papers out of other people for every answer? Get off your fucking high horse. If you want knowledge, seek it out yourself. Don't bitch that someone else--on an Internet forum for fucks same--didn't do the work for you. No one owes you anything.

  2. Yes, let's bust out the acoustic guitar and tambourine during roll call, sing the air force song (all verses) drink warm milk and eat cookies. We can give examples of how our squadron mates exemplified the core values over the past week, do a reading or two from the Airmans Manual, and maybe one from 36-2903 or 11-217 for good measure, then adjourn a little early to do some mentoring with your supervisor and practice bullet writing.

  3. I thought this was classy. Rescuers will rerun to the site to lay poppies. Link: BBC

  4. You guys that are all defending Rainman, I don't get it. I actually agree with his points, and I think Joe is an uber liberal. Problem is, I'm not smart enough in this subject matter to destroy his points other than to say things like, "That just doesn't make sense." Why can't Rainman back it up? For goodness' sake, don't do it to prove Joe wrong, do it to educate those of us on your side of the argument. He does come off as a major prick more often than not, even if he is right. I agree with him more often than not, but that doesn't make him infallible. All of you defending him just because he is "legit" make no sense. He's a big boy, I'm sure he doesn't need the "bro" network to back him up. If he feels it necessary, he'll do it. For people like me, a 60 hour/week job, family, TDY's every two weeks, and other commitments, post up the reasons you're right. Right or wrong, I come here for a lot of information on subjects like these. I take nothing at face value until I can see it backed up with logic and reason.

  5. If you want to avoid this shit storm, learn how to interact with the locals and avoid the traditional American hangouts. I've sang Karaoke and drank well past curfew in a Japanese dive bar only a couple blocks from my house (granted I lived in a mostly Japanese area, far from Sunabe) and had a blast doing it, and there wasn't any mention of town patrol anywhere in sight. Get away from Gate 2 street, and even further get away from Sunabe. Learn a tiny bit of Japanese and party it up across the red bridge.

  7. I think that goes for AETC as a whole. Here at Pcola, word from a staff meeting was ' to not get our hopes up.' Just a few more months. Done with this command for-ev-er.

  8. Maybe I was napping during the Wing Commander's briefing today, but it almost sounded like a MAF, staff complete, IDE complete pilot was going to be our new squadron mayor? Culture change, Go!

  9. Standard. Give them 6-9 weeks to form a committee that will make a recommendation to form an approval committee to release a recommendation to the AETC/CC in 6-9 months...it will sit in his exec's inbox for an additional 6-9 weeks and be denied due to improper memo formatting...

  10. Nope, sure didn't. Sorry, Velsoprints, I'm a huge knob goblin. I'll be in time out for a while.

  11. The differences mainly stem that I signed on the dotted line as a single guy in college. Now, I'm in my 30s with a family. Things I hadn't considered as positives: - Health care for life in retirement - The retirement cash flow - Vet's benefits for myself, wife, and children Things that I used to not care about, but now matter quite a bit: - How much I'm home - Missed birthdays/holidays - My kids being able/unable to get to know their grandparents ...to name a few. Don't get me wrong: When I was 20, I didn't think that a career in the military would be a cakewalk. Now that I'm watching my daughter grow up (way too fast!) right before my eyes, I think hard about why I do what I do and whether or not it's worth it. It's still worth it, of course. However, it's definitely NOT your normal civilian career. If my pay/benefits were changed to reflect what's "normal" for a civilian career, you bet your ass I'd have to re-evaluate my current plan to give 20+ years of service.
