  1. Looking forward to it with trepidation..only because I know it is going to be very upsetting to watch for me. My Dad was a B-24 pilot, and crash-landed twice. Once while he was an IP in a B-24J with a propeller overspeed and another in combat in the Pacific. I think that the stateside training accident contributed to my father's early death, because 4 of his crew were killed and I don't think he ever truly got over it. He committed suicide in 1979 when I was just 19, so I have always held the USAAF "Bomber boys" in very high esteem, and it amazes me how young they all were. How complex and difficult their tasks were considering the time period and the amount technology being transferred to literally the kids off the farm or ethnic neighborhoods in the cities. My Dad was the son of Irish immigrants and put himself through Temple University and enlisted in the Air Corps February 1942 after being rejected by the Navy for having one leg slightly shorter than the other. I never knew about this until I read his retirement physical.

  8. I think by the time these ladies get done suing the LAPD, fixing their truck will be probably pretty low on the list since they'll be able to afford 8 new trucks. But then again the People Republic of Kalifornia is broke so who knows if they'll ever see any money.

  9. Do you have any evidence to back up this statement? I have never seen a commercial on MSNBC that says they claim to be a biased source that represents only liberal views. They claim to tell the full story just like everybody else. Their hosts are just so hateful and full of vitriol that its readily obvious that they hate anyone that doesn't agree with them (of course so is Sean Hannity). I think it's tough to get a good sample on how well informed MSNBC's viewers are because there are so few of them.

  10. https://www.buzzfeed.com/tessastuart/two-mistakenly-shot-during-frantic-lapd-during-manhunt I'm counting 48 holes in that truck, and only 3 hit (fortunately) the two ladies in the truck. I find it sad that average citizens supposedly can't be trusted with guns because the streets would look like the wild west.

  12. So I watch Fox News...am I 'stupid' or misinformed? Or is it that there are plenty of stupid and misinformed people in our country, regardless of where they receive their news source? Just because students fail a college class doesn't mean that the course material isn't being delivered in a factual and effective way. Just to add...though Fox is the only news source I watch on TV (and I only watch certain programs as there is still a lot of crap on the network), I receive my news from several different sources...even some of those on the left.

  13. Not affording a US Citizen due process in accordance with the constitution is a bigger issue (and risk) than "mitigating risk" of a terror attack. Sometimes one must sacrifice a little security in the name of freedom and liberty. Ideals and ideas like this are what used to make this country great. (Gun control and warrant-less electronic eavesdropping on US citizens are just two more examples off the top of my head of the same erosion of this nation's ideals.) The easy road is usually the cowardly one. It is of my opinion that this entitled baby-boomer generation is absolutely destroying our country (fiscally wise, liberty wise, security wise). Fortunately, I have met some incredible people while serving and it gives me hope that some of you guys out there will someday help fix all this and get us back to where we used to be.

  15. Basically, what they are telling you is don't take any initiative towards making yourself marketable to the promotion board. As ClearedHot once said (and I paraphrase): "I didn't make up the promotion rules. Stop fvcking making excuses or downgrading those folks who are playing by the rules." BL - explore all of your options and figure out what you can do that best fits your needs both professionally and personally. If it means you get a box cutter master's degree then swindle your way thru ACSC, then so be it. If the peeps on the promotion board don't see thru it, then we have bigger problems. Besides, promotion should be based on future potential rather than what you've done on the past.

  16. Maybe so. I gave him his T-38 academics checkout, did his sims, flew with him, and went TDY a couple times with him. An entirely positive experience. Talking to some others like yourself, I am in the minority. But I'll take BG Ritchie any day over many "leaders" I've met... both personally and professionally. Back to the subject,... yes, I don't wear scarves anymore either. Unlike some of you, I was around when it was actually required for us to wear them. But rather than dismiss it as "ghey", I'd say it is simply a past tradition that is... Oh wait! We cannot have past traditions and heritage! I forgot, sorry. OK, back to your regularly scheduled episode of "Squadron Heritage Confiscation".

  17. Sorry brother, show me a picture of Robin Olds with a scarf and I maybe (won't) pull one out of the container of other crap I don't wear. Steve Ritchie? Fail - I've met him in person and he's an a-hole.
