  1. Hell, I'd be more impressed if state carry laws applied on military installations. I understand USC 18 Sec 930, but not even allowing people to keep personally-owned firearms in their vehicles when state law allows it is just stupid!

  3. Been a lot of talk on this, all I can say is that a Grand Jury decided to indict him (issue a "true bill") after reviewing all the evidence. While I understand his reaction, his use of lethal force was not justifiable under Texas Penal Code Section 46. Murder in the absence of self-defense is never allowed, either morally or legally. Remember that all the Grand Jury does is determine if probable cause exists to try someone for an offense. It is not an insinuation of guilt. If he has a good defense lawyer, he will claim extreme emotional distress and temporary mental incapacity. I think that will be sufficient in getting an acquittal. I have deep sympathy for the father as I would probably have the same reaction given the circumstances. I hope he walks; while I don't agree with his actions, I most certainly understand them. As for the drunk driver, he got what he deserved, no matter how it was administered...

  6. I just think its a damn shame any law-abiding citizen has to "apply" to any level of govt for permission to exercise a codified inalienable right. That said, hu&w is right, military and LEO shouldn't get any "special" rights not available to John Q. Public. That said, I hope the petition passes!

  8. It is so annoying to hear all this negative stuff about military retirement on the news because of the SEAL who shot Osama. The military retirement is awesome...All you have to do is get to 20 years and you get paid for life. Why would this SEAL try to make the military look so bad after he sacrificed so much. I hope the writer did not try to spin some of his comments but I am sure the writer jumped at the opportunity to make the military look like slave labor.

  9. "A poor design for the fuel tank venting system also means that when the single-engine jet is below 20,000 feet, its descent rate is limited to no more than 6,000 feet per minute" I thought that one was fun. Getting chased by the mighty F-35 Lightning II? Nothing a Split-S can't solve.

  14. Been trying to read the article during breaks of my day, I am not overly impressed so far. It's more whining than anything, the guy gets out so close to retirement and wonders why there aren't any jobs outside of private security contractor gigs. No fucking shit! It's a good lesson to all that not every military skill transfers into the civilian world. Have fun during your career, but be prepared as it won't last forever! And the retirement plan ain't no secret either. Given his career, he could have easily found a job in the Navy that didn't require him to be a frontline pipehitter. Anyone whose read Yellow Green Beret, Chester has a pretty accurate description of SEALs...Sleep, Eat and Lift!

  15. Granting concealed carry permits on a national basis for military makes sense, not because we're a 'special class', but because we frequently PCS to states we are not residents of without reciprocity.

  16. Respectfully disagree. My brother is a cop and head of the SWAT Team at a large North East Department. Before making Lt he served as his department's chief firearms instructor. A few years back when I was visiting during their annual weapons qualification period, his police chief invited me to shoot the qualification course. I qualified very easily, five of the 50 officers there that day did NOT.

  17. some less so, some more so. Most cops don't do IST or compete on their own dime. Really depends on the community. Regardless, I agree with hacker in principal, but will still call any loosening of any gun regulations a win for freedom.

  20. Dislike. Veterans are not "super citizens" who should be entitled to any more rights or privileges than the rest of America. The same goes for law enforcement personnel. There is only one class of citizen in America -- one to which all of the liberties and rights apply to.
