  1. He doesn't have much of a choice?? This is a significant problem. If a general officer doesn't "feel" that his position allows him the ability to use judgment when he knows that the current policy is detrimental to the overall situation, then either he or the system (or both) has failed.

  3. Well, if we are going to talk about cost (or future cost), why don't we also target smokers who are at risk for developing costly cancer. If you smoke, you're out. Or how about anyone who has a family history of multiple sclerosis or any other costly medical disorder...OUtT with you! You know, black people are susceptible to the costly sickle cell blood disorder, they also as a group lead the US in hypertension, and heart disease, OUT with all the black people! What? You have a kid with 'special needs?' you're out!! Oh here is a good one, let's limit the number of dependents someone can have....we can't afford medical care for all of your rugrats! And tell your wife to stop going to the doctor for every sniffle, ache, or ear infection....it is getting costly. out with you and your 10 kids. Or let's just make it simple all together....if the Air Force brainiacs have determined that anything over a 32 inch waist is potentially costly...let's just get rid of anyone with a waist size over 32....problem solved and our medical costs will go to zero. I could go on. If the Air Force wants to target costly medical care, then target specific individuals who are actually costing money instead of putting a group of people who could 'potentially' cost more money on the chopping block because they have a waist measurement over 32. Are we now going to limit how fat dependent wives can get?? Have you seen some of the dependapotamuses out there?? Surely they are costing money... So, the bottom line is: The Air Force has had this new fitness program for 10 years now. As a whole, .we are more fit today than we were 10 years ago. In theory, medical costs should be going down for our mighty Air Force...but they are not. I just can't imagine why. Perhaps it isn't just fat people (anyone with a waist over 32 inches) who are increasing health care expenditures, but rather increasing healthcare costs that are...increasing...our...expen...di...tures...hmmmm. Wait, that just made sense...never mind....keep blaming fatty!!! Edit: disgruntled beat me to it...good add with the high risk motorcycle riders! That high risk activity worksheet...let me take a look at that to see if we need to kick you out. Oh, and no more drinking! It is bad for the liver...shut down all the squadron bars!

  4. And then Chuck Fucking Norris made it rain, man.

  5. True. Rainman told Chuck Fucking Norris to shave.

  6. I read in this awesome spy handbook written by some dude named Sterling Archer that as long as you don't tell a honeypot anything useful your only risk is getting a torn rotator cuff from high-fiving everybody. Clearly this guy didn't do it right.

  7. It still is if you know where to look. I just scored 400 rounds of Yugo M67 (7.62x39) for $75 in the wooden crate. Sure, it was via a private sale; but deals like this are out there. You just have to keep looking and strike quickly when it pops up...

  11. 2nd on that. The Ruger 10/22 should be standard issue to every american kid upon completion of a hunters safety course. Oh, and the ammunition is super cheap - it's like a pellet gun you don't have to pump. I got mine when I was 12.

  12. Rainman doesn't need to get a time hack. He just picks a number and time hacks.

  13. Why bother with a tug when you can hand push it out. That way you save money on the tug and the taxi while getting PT at the same time.

  14. I think the intent is for guys who have no masters and want to combine it with in-corr IDE. I am just about done with it and I would NOT do it if you already have a masters. There is significantly more asspain involved than if you just do the correspondence IDE course. Best case it takes about 64 weeks so you're looking at over a year even if you max perform it, longer if you miss a course here or there for PFAs. It's not a difficult program but it's extremely annoying. I can't see value added unless you really think two AADs will make a difference down the road, but of course if you go to school you'll get a second AAD anyway (third if you do SAAS).

  15. Just don't post a picture of your kid holding it on Facebook. That 25 round 'clip' automatically turns it into an assault rifle.

  16. I knew it was turning into madness when I realized I'd rather take a checkride than a PFT. At least if I hose a checkride, I can only blame myself.

  17. Fixed it for you. Seriously folks, keep stuff like this in mind when it's time to make important career decisions for you and your family. The AF doesn't give a shit about you or anyone you care about, despite their claims to the contrary.

  18. This story does not surprise me at all, and it's unfortunate that this guy's career will end like this. Big Blue went against the sage advice of "NEVER Go Full Retard" a long, long time ago (and the current CSAF has done nothing to reverse that trend). The recent AFT article regarding the waist measurement review quoted CMSAF Cody as saying "If we can't fix this in six months, we need to come to terms.....that it just may be too hard to fix". YGTBFSM, we've thrived as the world's most elite air force for how many years prior to a waist measurement on a physical fitness assessment (not to mention only taking the assessment once a year during the first 50+ years), we've sent men to moon decades ago, we've successfully sent and remain in contact with a rover on Mars (that's another planet BTW), etc........and this one is too tough to tackle? JHFC, am I the only one here taking crazy pills. I seriously find it easier to relate to that poltergeist clown than I do the last couple of batches of Big Blue leadership. BTW, I've never failed the test. However, the waist measurement has been a giant pain for me. I'm one of those 93% showing up as passing each test, but I'm also part of a large segment (no pun intended) that has to do stupid shit (starve, dehydrate for at least a week out) in order to stay under the min measurement. I get more than 90% of the points for each of the physical components, yet always get dragged down by the waist. When I first saw cheerleaders for this waist measurement piping up about how great it was (some of them on this very thread), I just thought they were bit ignorant in not understanding fundamental differences in physiology from one person to the next, although I quickly figured out that their enthusiasm had more to do with the fact that they more genetically prone to be thinner and found this policy to be in their favor.........for comparison, if it was possible to be born with a strand of AAD already coded in your DNA, which means you then wouldn't be required to pursue a BS Masters degree, only those without the AAD strand would......you'd have the same cheerleaders out waiving pom-poms. Don't kid yourself, this is the same type of thinking.

  20. Don't forget the salary/BAH/BAS/etc that we pay each of these airmen. If the organizations they leave behind while "on tour" can survive without them, one could argue that elimination of TiB could be simultaneously be paired with the insta-RIF of those 69-ish TiB members without ANY impact upon the mission at all. We're easily talking about $10M+ per year. Can that help at least one CAF squadron stay CMR? How about putting that funding toward a US-only Red Flag? We are literally mortgaging the future of air superiority in favor of a high-school-grade jazz band/drama club. YGBSM.

  21. If i'm forced to waste my time with worthless pay-to-play stuff then I'm going to look for ways to do it when it's conveinint for me. IE when i'm already used to wasting an hour a week on worthless crap rather than spending time with the wife or getting drunk with my peers. If that means I can avoid having to waste that time later in life when I've got more going on, both personally and professionally, seems like a win-win to me... But, point made. People who are worried about their own performance might take my efforts to get this crap over and done with as a threat to their futures. I guess I'll avoid having any more people jump to foolish conclusions for sake of their own paranoia. Thanks for the advice.

  22. Basically, what they are telling you is don't take any initiative towards making yourself marketable to the promotion board. As ClearedHot once said (and I paraphrase): "I didn't make up the promotion rules. Stop fvcking making excuses or downgrading those folks who are playing by the rules." BL - explore all of your options and figure out what you can do that best fits your needs both professionally and personally. If it means you get a box cutter master's degree then swindle your way thru ACSC, then so be it. If the peeps on the promotion board don't see thru it, then we have bigger problems. Besides, promotion should be based on future potential rather than what you've done on the past.

  23. Thread revival. I'm getting ready to deploy and looking for a good back pack. I was planning on going with a BugOut Gear bag but they don't have an ABU pattern yet. Anybody know of any good quality bags (preferably available in ABU pattern)? Much appreciation.
