  3. No. I'm assuming that the follow on would be stated on the RIP, for those who get it. They have 9 eligibles at my base for five slots. The CC's have flexibility on who they send and had a sit down with everyone on the list to find out who's interested. They got a few volunteers right off the bat so some dudes may get non-vol'd if they can't fill the remainder. Hopefully it won't come to that. Talking with AFPC concerning how it will affect my palace chase paperwork, it looks like cubicle A isn't aware of what cubicle B is doing so I'm not sweating any negative effects. BL, if it happens then I 7 day opt and palace front 4 months later instead.

  4. I knew that would happen and it's my own fault for not clarifying that it was a jab at current BUFF ops. No disrespect to your dad and his crew. Those guys did have big brass ones. 11 Days of Christmas gets read at least once a year and that audio of a BUFF run in Vietnam that somebody posted not too long ago is a testament to what those guys went through. BUFF (myself included) guys are well aware and proud of their heritage, those who came before, sacrifices from other crew dogs etc. No intent to offend.

  5. This is just like any other docu-drama, highly sensationalized. Every aviation docu-drama (Repo, Hurricane Hunter, Flying Wild Alaska) is so produced that every little thing is an emergency or a near-death situation. To aircrew, these shows are far from accurate and it makes you question any other show that deals in a subject matter that you're not an expert in. Do crab fishermen scoff at Deadliest Catch, probably. I still watch because I know jack-crap about crab fishing.

  7. Uh, probably because the gear malfunction checklist says that all-up is preferable to whatever configuration is available at that point.

  8. "Staff Sgt. Amy Weidner, a 15-year-veteran of the Idaho Army National Guard, was released from the Active Guard and Reserve last year after officials learned she was operating a pay-per-view website." This is absolutely absurd. People actually pay for internet porn? Read more here: https://www.idahostatesman.com/2013/07/12/2651547/porn-site-costs-idaho-guardsman.html#storylink=cpy

  9. My favorite quote (this is a paraphrase) from "American Patriot" is after a reporter asked about why he wouldn't particpate in the program to return to Vietnam to meet former captors, see the prisons, etc like John McCain was doing. She asked something along the lines of "so you would never go back to Vietnam?" His response was "actually yes I would go back to Vietnam...leading a 4 ship of F-100s full of napalm."

  10. Valid. So if his dog is well-behaved, that satisfies your stated intent of the AFI, and he can therefore do what he needs to do. Much of the time "lawyering" is trying to execute the intent in spite of the wording.

  11. I completely understanding wanting to procon every option before making your 'pick'. Just rank 'em by the mission you want to be a part of, remember they're all good, and when you get dropped something totally unexpected just enjoy it.
