The senior leadership in Naval Aviation is rife with senior leadership that either "survived" or stood on the backs of their peers... the witchhunt of the post 1991 Tailhook scandal. The culture shift over the last several years is reflective of this. Risk aversion over tactics/success/moral/etc. This article could very well be describing them, or pretty much any Flag/GO leadership in any branch (maybe not the Marines). This is not to say there aren't still some glimmers of hope and warriors in the Flag ranks... Not only have the GO/Flag ranks swelled to ludicrous levels, their staffs have gotten just retarded as well. We have more Admirals in the Navy than ships. Some how we managed to win WWII with only one Admiral for every ONE HUNDRED THIRTY ships.

Got me. I'd never seen it in Japan or Korea drawn that way, but that obviously doesnt mean it wasn't. One last point, pretty much the only people that don't know the swastika did not originate with the Nazi party, or does not have a much deeper meaning than the twisted meaning the Nazi's applied to it are ignorant. I can't believe the threshold for "journalism" these days... I think that about covers it. The shoot down of EXTORTION 17 was a horrible event for the US military, and more specifically the SOF community. The preposterous conspiracy theories surrounding it are an insult to the heroes that died that day. I'm also tired of only reading about the SEALs that died with no mention of the Air Force CCT and PJs on board or the Army helo crew that also perished. People trying to paint this as some kind of "set up" make me sick. These men were on their way into battle and some muj got a lucky shot off. Period. At least they were visited by a couple GBUs and some 40 and 105mm a few days later. Here's a toast to the heroes of EXTORTION 17.....

Well, that and their complete lack of ability to survive in a non-permissive or denied environment.
