  1. Right but now we are in the thought police area, its no longer a matter of what you do but now what you think. Taking one side of the argument or the other is not discrimination, acting on it against Air Force policy is discrimination.

  3. It's easy math for me. The Air Force has never sent a finance school / personnel school washout to UPT.

  4. Ramstein AMCC is by far the most worthless AMCC in existence.

  5. General curiosity, how would you gents feel about getting rid of the retirement in favor of 2 to 1 TSP/401K matching, coupled with bonuses to accept ADSCs? The healthcare benefit is losing it's luster with Obamacare looking like it's going to drive us to a single payer system. The unintended consequence of this is the AF would actually have to take care of it's people, not just pay lip service. If you have to pay guys 100K to take an assignment to Cannon, or stay in for a 365, perhaps big blue would realize these are stupid decisions that destroy QoL. It would have the fringe benefit of getting rid of many of the mid-level Officers and NCOs who are just wasting everyone's time until they can retire at 20. I would feel more comfortable leaving the AF with 300-400K in my pocket after 15 yrs than the promises of politicians that they're going to take care of me after I serve 20, especially when you factor in healthcare changes that are happening.

  6. Looks like Redux 2.0 to me... From the article: "A cost-saving option might be to offer active-duty troops full retirement benefits only after 30 years’ service with mandatory retirement at 40 years." Right and if the same high year tenure rules apply. A lot less officers and NCOs will be making it to full retirement... Here is how I think this will go... the DOD insitute the change and it will remain in effect for about 8-10 years - then whole "classes"or year groups of officers and NCOs will depart taking their valuable experience wit...h them. As a result, these classes will become so small that once again, the 20 yewar retirement will be reinstated, continuation will be automatically offered to officers and NCOs who are at high year tenure and contractors will take over the positions be left unfilled by the rapidly departing mid-level work force. History repeating itself once again - do thes guys actually think the military is Microsoft or IBM? https://www.stripes.com/news/new-retirement-options-for-servicemembers-could-save-cash-for-military-1.234889

  7. I remember sitting on the ramp at Kadena on headset and listening to a Birmingham KC-135 griping on the command post freq about how they'd been waiting on fuel for "over an hour" and requesting an updated ETA. All I could do was chuckle and transmit "Welcome to Kadena".

  8. But they lead the way in uniform compliance! Be an AMC leader today!!! Always hated that sign.

  9. I've also had bosses grab a few hours rest while ops were on standby, but I've never had one leave the JOC and play Xbox when there was a potential for anything to happen. Also, WTF is Reggie Love even doing at the WH when an op of this scale is happening?

  10. I was at Ramstein once when my crew shared a bus out to the jet with a Reserve C-5 front end crew where the AC had been arguing a delay code with AMCC saying they were 10 mins late to the window because the bus showed up over 30 mins late. The Maj AC and the AMCC Maj behind the window were getting into it pretty good ending with AMCC saying the crew was getting the delay code and that was how it was going down. When we pulled up to the C-5... it only had 3 engines on it!!! I shit you not!!! I've been alerted to a broken jet before, but it least it had the correct amount of engines on it when I showed up! I was so bummed out that I couldn't make the trip back inside to witness the conversation at the window, but I was literally still laughing 7 hrs later on final at Balad!

  11. Of course. I couldn't fit all the examples in one sentance. The best IP and leader I know in my community isn't a patch. At the same time, I've seen some pretty dumb assignments for WIC grads to get O-4s the tickets they need to compete for further promotions because the system-at-large requires it. Examples are sending fighter WIC grads to USAFA to be an AOC and knock out an AAD. Another is sending a patch to teach at SOS and then go to ACSC in-res as a follow-on. Both were wastes of our Air Force's investment in these individuals. Had we had a community or AFSC-specific promotion system in place, these assignments wouldn't have happened.

  13. This is not uncommon. Realize you won by qualifying for a pilot slot despite your originally poor vision, and wear contacts/glasses as necessary. I'll double check the regs tomorrow, but don't tell yourself this is a bad outcome.

  14. Hmmm... is being DG at UPT the same as being DG of Finance, Com, LRS school? Is the #1 CGO strat of the MSG the same as the #1 strat of the OG of a flying Wing? Is the #1 CGO strat of the OG at Charleston where they have 4 flying Sqs the same as McGuire where they have 2 or maybe Andrews where they have 2 Sqs, but only a half dozen CGOs in the whole OG? When the AF sends Lt Snuffy to MIT to get his Aero Masters so he can work in a Research Lab at Hanscom is that the same as Lt Jenkins getting his Aviation Management masters from Embry Riddle Online while turning left for 8 hours a day in Sandcamp? Sorry... these things aren't even close to being comparable for all AFSCs unless all you are comparing is whether the box was checked or not. For some reason that part was left out of "The Big Picture" and Big Blue hasn't figured that out yet! I've talked to way too many O-6 types who think all of those are the same... a #1 strat is a #1 strat... a Masters is a Masters... a DG is a DG!

  17. 6-9 basketballs nonetheless... I would say on average it takes me about one basketball to shoot around. And only one basketball to play a pickup game. F/W/A on a small scale.
