Slick for fucks sake cut it out. I've never seen a captain so self righteously drop tales if his supervisory prowess like you do. How many posts now have you casually thrown in the fact that you're a supervisor? Enough SOS stories and enough talk of your own "leadership" techniques. Aren't you a shop chief? Get over yourself.2 points

Its a version of what used to be called a Improvised Lob Bomb. The IRA used a similar system in Northern Ireland. The next generation of the Lob Bomb is called the Improvised Rocket Assisted Munitions (IRAM). The IRAM was used against us in Iraq but its roots can be traced back to between the two Iraq wars. The Shiites used the IRAMs against Saddam's forces. The version in your video is called the Syrian Hell Cannon and its being used current by both the Syrian rebels and Syrian government militias (primarily), Hezbollah. The good folks in Gaza have versions of all this crap.2 points

Good. Now perhaps certain people will start worrying about becoming competent in their AFSC instead of how they are going pepper-grind their way to that school slot.1 point

Combat Platypus, yep tha's a good name for the plane. Yeah, I like to say that I fly the Combat Herc. Hey, does anyone fly the Combat Bone? Combat Falcon? Combat Hog? Combat Buff? Combat Barney? Combat Fred? Combat Eagle? Combat Wacker? Combat Extender? Now, I'm just laughing like a 3rd grader. Out1 point

Nice. From 5 weeks to 8 and back to 5 in the span of 3 years. If only there had been an online group of current and former USAF officers who could have predicted that the 8 week course would be an almost total waste of time and resources. The best part is that the same three year groups got screwed with the excessively long versions of both ASBC and SOS. Great job Air Force.1 point

HAF is struggling with the BCA cuts in FY13 and the FY14 budget. PCS accounts are low. Not sure how they are going to deal with it, but freezing PCS in some areas is being discussed. Moves will still happen, but there will be budget pressure to minimize them. Top people are on it...what could possibly go wrong...1 point

So where's the official guidance on this? Where's the "vector" we were promised, oh, 9 months ago? C'mon Gen Welsh... this service desperately needs you to make these simple, easy fixes, and not just be a guy who gave a great speech at USAFA this one time.1 point

From personal experience, I concur with what TMFan said regarding Ramstein. You have the right mentality with EFMP - I had to do the same thing leaving Ramstein when I was notified less than months prior to PCS that a family member had been put on EFMP about a year prior without them actually notifying me of that. As big of a fuckalolly as the Ramstein MPF was, EFMP was the boat anchor that almost caused me to push back my departure date. I had to call direct to O-5s in the MDG to get things rolling for what should have been relatively simple actions.1 point

Awesome, who then advocates for RPA's at higher levels? Both in and out of the AF? Who guides the acquisition and acts on behalf of the Air Force in addressing operational concerns of a higher level than tactical? When the Army CC is demanding action, who goes to bat for the AF? As Brabus pointed out you're not improving service, you're simply changing out one set of problems for another. They've heavily civilianized the Comm Sq's. Now I have Amn that can't get trained in certain areas since that's a civilian position, or contractor position. My civilians don't deploy, so automatically I've got a morale problem. Additionally the civilians are almost entirely Ex-military (most AF) of some rank and think the Amn/NCO's work for them. Doesn't matter we're 1/2 the size of the force from when they got out. They still want my guys building desks when they get FY funds for new furniture. I'm convinced most of the problems we're seeing with support in finance aren't due to bad Amn. It's bad training, removal of their ability to actually help you due to power consolidation, and workload/shortages preventing them from becoming experts. Yes, there's always bad Amn but problems this long speak to something else besides recruiting dirtbags continuously just in finance/MPF.1 point

Huh. I listened to the CSAF himself last week say that the fact that senior raters are considering masters degrees for the major's board is "insane." He went on to say that a masters degree should only be required for O-6.1 point

Fortunately I'm pretty confident that this will never get put up for a vote in the House, at least not while the GOP is in control. Even though the establishment GOP is all about being 'Democratic-lite' these days, fortunately enough of them realize that it would be political suicide right now for them to allow more gun control bills to go forward. Though in some ways I wouldn't mind seeing who votes 'yay' and 'nay' on such a bill. I did a quick search and am confused: Does the $5 this article mentions the current federal tax charged for doing any sort of FFL transfer/background check? And if so, I'm guessing then the article suggests that these Congressmen would want to raise that to $100...so instead of a $25 FFL transfer fee, my shop would have to charge me $125 for the same process? Yeah, I'm sure this will help their cause of passing 'universal background checks'. What's sad is that I have no doubt that when the Dems get control of the entire government again that they'll have a heyday passing all these bills. I guess we're lucky they didn't touch gun control (via the legislature process) when the Dems had a super majority in 09-10.1 point
