  1. That's not just a great OPR bullet... it's a fabulous OPR bullet.

  2. Ok, no shit, when I saw the title to this thread I was thinking something along the lines of "Heritage" or "Air Force Pride" month...not sexual preference pride month. This is out of control. Please, Liquid, someone explain to me how the Air Force intends to rid the service of inappropriate sexual talk and behavior in the workplace when we now have an entire month celebrating someone's SEXual preference. I don't care if anyone is gay...I don't have to know it. They can do their jobs just fine without me knowing their sexual preference. If you're celebrating your sexuality at the workplace AND the Air Force or DoD is sanctioning it, then you are in fact endorsing inappropriate sexual talk and behavior at the workplace. There are no exceptions to those who prefer the homosexual lifestyle. 69 is not ok but 66 is? I'm sure 69 happens to be a sexual preference to a lot of people...but we don't have to express it at work an entire month out of the year. UFB!

  5. A card table with a 8.5" x 11" piece of paper on it. "Pride Month 2014" with a rainbow printed on the paper. Set it up at the entrance to the BX. Boom, done...

  7. Atheist here...a bro had something come up so I took over Chrismahanukwanzaka party planning. Took it as an opportunity to make the party as fun as possible and ignore any religious overtones. I'm pretty sure it was a good time...

  8. I must have heard the briefings wrong. I was told that there is absolutely no difference in a person based on their sexual orientation, and that it is a demographic that should not factor into anything relating to work. Sooo...now there is work time set aside specifically to celebrate the thing that is not supposed to matter to anyone except the individual (because sex is private and only matters what happens behind closed doors). Then again, my beef with all this is a loosing battle anyway. I keep trying to get them to do a sudsy booth at the Asian Heritage Month party, and it keeps getting shot down. Guess having accurate parties is not a priority...but hey, it's a party. Any excuse to shut down support functions is good in my book.

  10. I just graduated this month. We didn't need the all weather coat and it wasn't on the required uniform items from the holm center website either. Ankle socks were required for us. The whole campus is going wireless and using blackboard for submitting assignments so the use of personal laptops and tablets was encouraged and able to be used from day 1.

  11. It was pretty apparent that this story was bullshit from the first look. How foolish can you be to reprint a story from the NY Post without doing any fact checking? Plus the comment about the hats looking too "French" shortly followed by a criticism of the Army's decision to take the Ranger's special beret away...

  12. He is a legend in the Corps akin to Chesty, AA Cunningham, Lejeune, Smedley Buttler... He was huge in the Banana Wars, and WWI. Indeed, every Marine learns about him.

  13. I read the article you linked, which said the women hats are nicknamed 'Dan Dalys', because apparently some dude named Daly wore one like it. Then I looked up who Dan Daly was... https://badasshistory.com/daly.html Two-time MOH winner. During WWI, he yelled to his Marines, just before storming the machine gun nests that pinned his unit down, "Come on, you sons of bitches, do you want to live forever?" And that action earned him only the Navy Cross. I wouldn't mind wearing a hat worn by a B.A.M.F. like him.

  14. https://www.stripes.com/news/us/marines-shoot-down-internet-story-on-obama-s-alleged-push-for-girly-hats-1.248963 Turns out, the whole story wasn't true. Go figure.

  15. Vertigo and his awesome avatar is right here. I seriously doubt the President was briefed on the specifics of a potential USMC uniform change. To be honest, I don't think the President has a clue what HHS is even doing with all their problems, must less a hat change. He doesn't seem to get involved with the details of many specific actions and then acts surprised when something isn't going right...Fast and Furious, IRS issues, Benghazi, Pentagon suspending death benefits, on and on. I think it's somewhat by design--if he doesn't know about it, then he can say it's not his fault. Everybody in the administration seems to be blaming the contractors for f'ing up the whole Obamacare website rather than taking any responsibility themselves. Standard politicians on both sides...but hey, we have the best politicians money can buy! Though it's a fun topic for a BO forum, I think the USMC hat is the least of our problems, including for those in Corps. ...but yes, the hat does look pretty gay.

  16. Like the President is really pushing for this because he has nothing else to do. I love how this board derides the media... unless it's a story with no actual evidence to back it's claim about this President and his wants.

  17. I thought I saw this posted on the forum a while ago, but I couldn't find the thread. Anyhow, a couple years ago a Gurkha single handedly engaged 12 to 15 (some reports say as high as 30) Taliban soldiers to protect his FOB and brothers-in-arms. He used 400 rounds of ammo, 17 grenades, a mine, and a tripod to lay waste to the attackers. Acting Sgt Pun was quoted as saying, "Before they kill me, I have to kill some of them." Link to the details. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8-LRxSl9aw

  18. Being gay ain't about the sex. I mean, if you want to keep imagining it, have at it. Are you straight for banging chicks or loving chicks? (Well both, right, but which one is the go to work conversation). I'm sure the gays around are more likely to talk about their boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife in the same context as a straight person would. In fact, I know they are. A gay guy bringing in Chippendale's photos is the same as the straight guy bringing in Hooters.... I don't see the problem. Again, if you don't like gay pride month, ignore it as much as you'd ignore all the other heritage months (I know I do). Besides nsplayer's picture, maybe you'll get a fabulous office renovation out of it. Who knows.
