  1. Ok, no shit, when I saw the title to this thread I was thinking something along the lines of "Heritage" or "Air Force Pride" month...not sexual preference pride month. This is out of control. Please, Liquid, someone explain to me how the Air Force intends to rid the service of inappropriate sexual talk and behavior in the workplace when we now have an entire month celebrating someone's SEXual preference. I don't care if anyone is gay...I don't have to know it. They can do their jobs just fine without me knowing their sexual preference. If you're celebrating your sexuality at the workplace AND the Air Force or DoD is sanctioning it, then you are in fact endorsing inappropriate sexual talk and behavior at the workplace. There are no exceptions to those who prefer the homosexual lifestyle. 69 is not ok but 66 is? I'm sure 69 happens to be a sexual preference to a lot of people...but we don't have to express it at work an entire month out of the year. UFB!

  4. So how does an older platform with less capabilities save the AF money in the long run when you're going to need twice the airplanes to provide the same amount of gas? Not to mention that when we Navy/Marine types need a tanker the -135 is either boom or drogue, but can't do both. KC-10? Boom or basket, they both have the gas AND the ability to give to anyone who needs it. We Marines can be pretty stupid WRT some stuff, but holy hell, this is really short sighted. Though what can you expect from the same people who got out of the EA business, and left it to the Navy and Marine Corps (which is ridiculous, why the F do we really need EA squadron in the Marine Corps? I have yet to hear a truly convincing argument) Hornet bros around the world agree - give us a KC-10 over a -135 any day. I know Hornet dudes who would rather take a shitty weather night trap than try to plug the Iron Maiden. I know of a Harrier squadron that will outright refuse a training sortie if they have to have -135 support.

  5. Perhaps General Chang and his cohorts have taken to using reverse psychology on the crew dawgs to spread their message of assimilation: "Wearing your PT gear in accordance with AFI 36-2903 is so ghey", "Rated officers who aren't AAD complete by winging are sooooo kewl!", "Someone said I needed to complete my Info Assurance CBT so the squadron would be more green for the exercise and I was totally like ORLY?" Very tricky

  6. The KC-135 was never designed to be a multiple-role aircraft or carry a huge amount of cargo. It was designed to refuel the B-52 so it could go nuke enemies if needed.

  7. I had one of each blues item while I was there. You will only wear your blues a couple times. You will have 2 open ranks in blues with only 1 of them being full service, then you will not wear blues until graduation week. You will possibly need blues to walk around base during phase 2, but our class submitted a memo to wear ABU's which got approved so we didn't have to wear blues on base at all.

  8. Nicely played.... I hear you HOSS, and I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but the bottom line is sexual (gender) preference (and yes I understand the word sexuality and didn't mean the act itself) is the only thing that makes a homosexual a homosexual. I'm not trying to be condescending here, but by definition It means that you have (according to Webster) a 1. Sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons of one's own sex (gender). The good Webster also defines sexuality as 1. sexual character, possession of the structural and functional traits of sex. 2. Recognition of or emphasis on sexual matters 3. involvement in sexual activity 4. an organisms preparedness for engaging in sexual activity. While I wasn't talking about the physical act of sex, I'm talking about celebrating a characteristic that is defined only by such sexual acts and desires. I'm pretty sure 99.69% of all living organisms engage in sexual activity whether it is asexual or with a partner. To focus on one group's pride with whom they prefer (sexually or emotionally...it is really irrelevant) is the double standard to which I am referring. Everyone has their own sexual preferences. I'll bet my next year's paycheck that there is a current commander out there who does enjoy S&M and probably has a basement full of toys. That is a valid point, but not the point I'm trying to make with a "Pride" month being inappropriate. No I don't think the Air Force is endorsing sexual acts, just like I don't think the number 69 or a rape song is endorsing sexual misconduct or rape. I understand diversity and overcoming bigotry. If pride month means being proud of your life choices, then it should include EVERYONE...including heterosexuals. But it doesn't and it is not the intent of DoD to celebrate it that way.... So, Charlie Pride gets two months.... :)
