I can't help but figure the AF will still figure out a way to waste the cost savings that are made.2 points

What the fuck ever. WE caused it? How about our current leaderships generation? They clearly did so much to stop this "culture" when they were mid level Captains/Majors. But sure, WE pissed it away... It's those damn fighter pilots and their rape songs! That and their mermaid handled mugs just drive them to rape and sexual assault.1 point

It's telling when the thread to highlight what's improved in the AF quickly dilutes to how much it sucks.1 point

I think the terminology used was wrong but the larger point which was by saying "oh look 62% of the pilots took the bonus, nothing to see here everything is good" is as we all know false. This shows basing the health of the pilot manning on the percentage of takers is a bad metric. It's, as is being discussed in the Sequestration thread, manipulating data and playing word games to make things look all fine and dandy, the new bonus is working and now they don't have to address actual problems. It doesn't matter if there were 211 eligible or 50; it would have been spun the same way and ignored the other large number of people that were ineligible that were lost.1 point

Just asserting their strength in immediate territories. They get more attention for their naval 'area denial' tech development.1 point

Sarcasm detector is reading moderate to high. I just wanted to answer your question by saying that the crack team that coded the healthcare website is ready and waiting to take on this new challenge. It might not be ready on time, and it might launch a full scale nuclear response against some guys dog in Denver, but you can always expect a few glitches in something this big.1 point

It is very degrading. To everyone. How offensive is it to be part of a group that seemingly needs protection and can only succeed by toppling the "white male club?" I would like to think that my efforts and skills are what gets me to the place I want to be, not some outside force that feels the military is too homogeneous. Will I have to go through my career wondering if I got awarded or promoted because I'm an Asian female and there are few of us in the services? Or can I take pride in the fact that I dedicate myself 100% to my job?1 point

A man is drinking alone in a bar when a pretty girl walks in. She orders two double shots, and kills 'em both in seconds. The man, who hasn't said a word all night, asks the woman why she's drinking so heavy this evening. She looks over and says "My bastard boyfriend just broke up with me. He said I was just too kinky for him". At this, the man perks up and exclaims "No way! My girlfriend just broke up with me because I'm too kinky!" Well, soon after they decide to ditch the bar and head back to her place to get a bit crazy. Immediately after walking into her apartment, the lady locks the door, releases a sex swing from the ceiling, and tells him that she's going to change into something more "comfortable". A few minutes later she walks out of her room in a full leather S&M outfit, complete with a riding crop and chains. To her surprise, though, the guys is zipping up his pants and unlocking the door. She is taken aback, and asks "What the hell?! I thought we were going to get kinky!", to which the guy responds, as he's walking out the door, "Lady, I just ######ed your dog and shit in your purse! What else do you want from me?"1 point

The savings take into account cancelling the CRH (expensive new start), buying new CV-22s and SLEP the remaining 60s. It compares O&M of CV-22 vs CRH estimates, not new HH-60s or old HH-60s. The big money savings is in canceling the CRH and using established supply chain and parts available with the mature V-22 program. The proposed reduction in the number of aircraft is mitigated by AFSOC's CV-22s and MC-130s. 7.62 and .50 cal aren't great at defeating threats in CSAR role. CV-22 has .50 cal on ramp and AFSOC is looking at options for forward firing rockets, missiles and guns. The CV-22's range, speed, cargo capacity, defensive systems and terrain following capability make it a very good CSAR platform for contested objectives. It makes total sense to put CSAR into a MAJCOM that generates and employs C-130Js and CV-22s, specializes in short notice taskings, understands mobility missions, is partially funded with joint dollars, is globally positioned far forward in small units and has unique command and control capabilities suited for MCO and IW. All AFSOC has done is articulate options for the decision makers. With 32/50 CV-22s delivered, they have plenty of iron and plenty to do. No emotion, drama or hidden agendas, just warfighting options in a fiscally constrained environment.1 point

Sure you can. Be aggressive and creative. When you are right, you are right. I think you are reading too much into it. It is not degrading or discriminatory. Yes, diversity and the protections EO enable make us a stronger and more professional force. You are naive to think there are not legitimate complaints and resolutions handled by EO every day across our AF. The quotes you reference from this document do not call for reverse discrimination.-1 points

The Air Force has the best CSAF in years, and we pissed it away by distracting him with sex scandals. I know that it was a statistically insignificant amount of folks who were involved in the worst of it, but the culture enabled it to happen. The more time he has spent testifying in Congress about this issue, the less clout and energy he has to advocate for and make changes that matter. This also derailed the successes of Gen Rice at AETC, who was fixing a lot at his command before he had to re-vector to address the MTI sex scandal. Re-defining Blues Monday was great, as now it's up to lower level leadership to decide how best to deal with it rather than have his office take the heat from the troops. He has done a lot to address the importance of the USAF in times of shrinking budgets, but most of his public work has been in motivating and caring for his troops, which is a significant piece of his job despite how far up the food chain he resides.-2 points
