November 2014 I'm voting against every single incumbent. 33 Senators and 435 Representatives will be up for re-election, and the American public needs to un-sheep themselves and send a message. “The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive veterans of early wars were treated and appreciated by our nation." - President George Washington It disgusts me to see our Congress failing to lead by example. Austerity regarding their own benefits and salaries, regardless of how minor the effect would be on the overall fiscal picture, would at least be a start. This Congress continues to ask for more austerity from its citizens without accepting or sharing any of that burden itself. I'm beginning to wonder who works for who.4 points

It's kind of like how the AF can make life suck so much, that when they take a couple of steps back in the direction of normal, it seems like a huge win (see the "what has improved in the AF thread.) Congress has made such an epic clusterfuck of things lately, that any cooperation at all is being hailed as a huge victory, regardless of how shitty the end result actually is. If not for my complete lack of faith in any actual ability of congress to develop a coherent strategy, it would seem like they actually executed a savvy strategy. Entitlement benefits continue their upward trend, at the expense of those very few who actually make the sacrifice to guarantee that the majority can continue to receive benefits from their government. Spending isn't really cut, taxes actually do go up, and the deficit sees no immediate relief. This should be no surprise, because it is what the majority wants. It is what they voted for, after all. Like the saying goes, you can't fix stupid. It looks like the scales have tipped, and the majority of Americans now fall into that "stupid" category.2 points

So much wrong there man. One of the best pilots you've flown with but would "wear you out" on a checkride? WTF? It's your checkride. Fly the profile and show you can accomplish your mission without blatant disregard for regs and without damaging equipment or killing anyone. Any EP adding to that is a DOUCHEBAG. As far as your comments on patch wearers in your community... wow man. Doesn't seem very "humble approachable or credible" if your young guys try to avoid them because they are such pricks. That's a total shame and contrary to what that school should be producing.1 point

I worry more about the Fed borrowing/printing so much money that inflation skyrockets and our retirement checks become worthless...1 point

Hella of a guy... 7. On the U.S. war with Iraq: “If there is a country that has committed unspeakable atrocities in the world, it is the United States of America. They don’t care for human beings.” Via cbsnews.com 6. On the U.S. war with Iraq: “All that (Mr. Bush) wants is Iraqi oil.” Via cbsnews.com 4. Mandela on Castro and the Cuban revolution: “From its earliest days, the Cuban Revolution has also been a source of inspiration to all freedom-loving people. We admire the sacrifices of the Cuban people in maintaining their independence and sovereignty in the face of the vicious imperialist-orquestrated campaign to destroy the impressive gain made in the Cuban Revolution. … Long live the Cuban Revolution. Long live comrade Fidel Castro.” Via lanic.utexas.edu 3. Mandela on Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, his longtime supporter: “It is our duty to give support to the brother leader … especially in regards to the sanctions which are not hitting just him, they are hitting the ordinary masses of the people … our African brothers and sisters.” Via finalcall.com 2. On the U.S. preparing to invade Iraq in a 2002 interview with Newsweek: “If you look at those matters, you will come to the conclusion that the attitude of the United States of America is a threat to world peace.” Via newsweek.com 1. On a Palestinian state: “The UN took a strong stand against apartheid; and over the years, an international consensus was built, which helped to bring an end to this iniquitous system. But we know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians.” Via cbsnews.com0 points

For not wanting to argue feelings, you initiated it with the passive-aggressive pet names. Sweetie? LOL. Grow up. I am arguing facts. I am arguing based on what is published in academic journals (ie Council on Foreign Relations) to counter your extremist blogs. You want to blame the Marikana Massacre on Nelson Mandela? Seriously? You are trying to completely discredit his efforts to promote nonracial democracy and racial reconciliation, which is severely misguided, on the failures of his successors. I and the others advocating his legacy agree he is not perfect and handled some things poorly, but he had shaped South Africa to be free of repression and to be a place where human rights are guaranteed by law. As far as unemployment in South Africa, yes, it is not good, but don't cherry-pick statistics because you're missing out on the whole picture. They are regarded as an emerging market by experts (not just message board members) because they are making progress and show signs of growth. They are chosen to become the bridge for the rest of the world with Africa. I should have but you are right that I do not know much of her. I was born in 1994, only a few years after her reign.-1 points

So the American President can't be a normal person when at a celebration and out in public? I say bull-shit on that one... I think seeing the President like that makes him more human and genuine and I don't mind it at all....-1 points
