  4. Still no. Space Ops has both 13S and 1C6 training in the same squadron, and for some satellite systems enlisted and officer can be in the same class. We had a first-term Airman in my class; he was the only E in a group with 4 Captains and 8 Lts. He had to live in the dorms and follow first-term Airman rules there, but in class he was just another student. For the officers, we were treated as any other permanent party on base. If we had to miss class for a medical appointment we set up, so be it. Somebody needs to unfuck Goodfellow quick-like. It's just going to breed more dumbasses that think this shit is acceptable when they move up in rank.

  5. I'm not 100% sure that AFPC knows what's going on from A1 yet. I am sure our Wg and Sq CC's don't know what's going on. The chances your Flt/CC has it figured out are zero.

  10. I passed along my interest in going there. Primarily, my daughter has a medical issue that would be minimally covered in Del Rio. Progression (hell, even promotion) isn't a big priority for me. Flying the T-6 again is though. We'll see how much traction it gets. I appreciate the input, guys. I have very little knowledge as to how the Navy training program goes.

  11. ..and better schools and dining and entertainment and access to medical services and airports and...well you get the point. I'd triple turn with a smile on my face in order to provide my family with that leg-up.

  12. I went through NAS WF in one of the last classes before going to Mother Rucker. I'd go back in a heart beat as an IP despite double turns, triples sometimes, and flying weekends every now and again. The instructors have to get upgrades to do certain sortie types as far as I remember. When you get out of the FITU you can do all the contact/ Instrument stuff. I think you have to get upgrade training to fly the LL and Formation sorties. I'm not understanding how this is even a question after hearing stories from friends that had to go through Del Rio. The P-Cola, Milton, Eglin area has a ton to offer as far as cheap fun goes when you aren't flying.

  13. Dupe, what you're saying makes perfect sense and if those are the problem areas I'd rather not see "fly jets" on that list at all. Good point. It really should be a given that flying jets is a wing priority if that is the wing's mission. Don't get me wrong, if the things on that list are problem areas, by all means fix them, but there should be no other reason to put "flying jets" on that list unless you're intentionally trying to show that flying is not the focus of a flying wing (which makes sense in today's Air Force culture climate). All this does is reinforce the "everyone is the tip of the spear concept" when in reality, the tip of the spear is essentially the mission for which your wing is appropriately named, and everything else supports that mission. I really think we are moving away from that concept. Yes, the support functions are ALL important in accomplishing the overall mission, but they are not all tip of the spear...unless they want to be the AFIS Implementation Wing or Travel Voucher Processing Wing, then yes, flying is not as important unless we need to fly in order to support travel voucher processing. I'm a graduate of the old PME courseware so I may be wrong here, but I think there is supposed to be a reason it is called an AIRLIFT Wing and not an AFIS Implementation Wing. The bottom line is that everything on that list still supports the wing's ability to perform its tasked mission...flying jets...period. Maybe it is me who is out of touch. Now I wonder why a Missile Wing is called a Missile Wing. I can't imagine what their mission could be....I better research that one.

  14. I think we can close the thread now. When flying is #18 of 19......that's what wrong with the Air Force.
