  2. To throw in something that's not religious: The AF places way too much emphasis on higher education. It used to be like this: enlisted: high school graduate, line officer: bachelors, professional/medical officer: advanced degree. Now it's advanced degrees pushed across the board. When enlisted members have the same or more education than officers what the hell kind of environment is this supposed to foster?

  3. Those shoes don't have Velcro on them--how do you get them on, M2? Either way, I'm sure the color matches your Dickies coveralls and "USAF Retired" hat.

  5. No high paying civilian business cares about an associate degree (CCAF). If the E-9s really care about their folks, they would steer them towards a bachelors degree. But nope, it's about making sure people check the boxes to indicate "desire and potential."

  7. This is purely a numbers game. The point is to cut ties with a certain number of people...ADSC or no ADSC. However, it makes no sense from a planning perspective to only let out those with an ADSC. That leaves you with a bunch of free agents and no idea of their future plans.

  14. I'm so sick of hearing, "things will happen by this date." What a load of crap, according to the initial release back in Dec, they should have been on batch 3 or 4 by now. God help us if we ever have to fight a capable enemy.

  15. Vpr/Hick - I got in CMS today and saw it at the PC office for the first time. The status you and I see does not change, but someone with full CMS access can see it as it works through the wickets. I got a number to the PC office, but the voicemail (surprise) says they won't even do status checks until it's been with AFPC for a month. I understand backlogs, and I understand people are working hard, but I just can't get past how COMPLETELY F*CKING UNACCEPTABLE it would be if I were handling my job this poorly with no solution to fix it. And, FWIW, I set the bar pretty low.

  18. Take an Easter bunny marshmallow (a.k.a. a peep) and smush it down with your hand. Voila, you have a marshmallow in the shape of North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-un! For reference, here is the North Korean leader...

  19. In military planning (MDMP, JOPP) we analyze courses of action (COAs) by determining if they are Feasible, Acceptable and Suitable (or Adequate). Some add Distinguishable and Complete. In your decision, you need to decide if "going AD" is Suitable/Adequate (accomplishes the mission, complies with guidance or in your case, meets your needs and desires). You need to decide if "going AD" is Acceptable, or worth the cost. Is it worth giving up what you have and spending the time, effort and energy to meet your needs by "going AD". Some on this forum will tell you it is not. Only you will know whether "going AD" is Acceptable or Suitable for you. You need to spend some time determining if "going AD" is Feasible. Do you have the capability or resources necessary to do this? Determine if you can get a commission in the AF, qualify for pilot training, complete pilot training, get a security clearance, etc. There are many disqualifying factors. Since two ANG units have turned you down, it may not be Feasible. Very few people are offered the opportunity to serve on active duty or in the ANG as a pilot. I have not regretted my decision to serve on active duty and I would do it again. Good luck with your decision.

  20. Not a derail. You specifically called out this guy's SA for flying an airplane. I want to know what you fly to make such a statement. I'm sure I'm not the only one since you dodge the question constantly. Please, share with the class your credentials on the matter.

  21. Military related... I liked Riding Rockets by Mike Mullane - a former F-4 WSO. Also reading An Astronauts Guide to Life on Earth by Chris Hadfield - really not a fan due to all the "this is how awesome I am" undertones.

  22. The constitution does not require that people check their religion at the door. It does require, however, that the government establish no religion, nor provide religious test for office. This is to protect religion and its free practice, not necessarily allow only secularists to serve in government.
