  1. Had to laugh at the Med School Virgin Auction. Here's the line that sums it up: "There will be a legal contract between us," she said. "[The winner] may not be happy [with the sex], but he knows what he's paying for." If a guy just wanted to spend too much money and have disappointing sex, he could just get married instead.

  2. Palace Chase approved this week! Here are my stats: 2005 year group 11M core (C-130E/H) UPT ADSC ends Nov 2017, so I asked for just over 3 years off my ADSC The crazy thing is that it only took a week! I applied Wed 23 Apr and was approved Wed 30 Apr. I applied with a position number (offered by an AFRC unit in early Apr) and made sure my package was nice and complete (sts). My wife and I are ecstatic! I cannot believe the Air Force let me pursue my dream 3 years early!

  3. It would have been smarter for AFPC to execute this in a graduated manner. Announce a 3-step voluntary process with distinct application windows: Expanded PC, ADSC Waiver, and then VSP. Expanded Palace Chase (1 to 1) only for the first month. Pause for a week and process applications. Release a new matrix (preferably one with numbers vice colors). Open the ADSC Waiver window for a month; you get out of your commitment, but no separation pay. Pause and process. Release new matrix. Now open the VSP window for a month. Pause and process. Release new matrix. Announce the RIF eligible year group/AFSC and offer one last chance to VSP for those who get their RRF and realize that they are #69/69 in the group because they deployed 7 times instead of finishing that last Master's class. Now use the RIF to meet your final manning targets. This way, the most motivated people to get out will go first. As long as you announce the plan early (and then stick to it), people will have more time to plan and I think it would be a more equitable process. Transparency would help too...

  4. Our concept of civil-military relations* is built largely on the assumption that high-ranking officers will resign rather than carry out policies they know to be foolish. The problem here is that apparently no-one at a high level is willing to resign when faced with objectives they know to be impossible (or perhaps unachievable at a price we are willing to pay, or with methods we are willing to use). *It also presumes a Congress going about it's business in a responsible manner, which is not what we have.

  5. Compared to the GBU-44? Yes. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

  6. This a catch-22. If several applicants get their VSP denied to try to encourage Palace Chase applications, the matrix won't go red early. If the matrix goes red early, then a lot of VSP applications are being approved. I definitely would've gone the Palace Chase route had they said that they would definitely give preference to that over VSP. As it was, I would've had to pull my VSP application to apply for Palace Chase, and that didn't seem like a wise move given the fact that AFPC has been consistently opaque about the selection process. Now, almost three months after my app, they say that order of application has no bearing on selection, but this way I at least have a shot at both. It's no wonder the AFPC patch is a guy shooting himself in the head. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Forget this TIB BS. Here's a story about a Nurse out on a night op with the Rangers who made the ultimate sacrifice in October to save others. Maybe this TIB chick should realize other chicks are out there who never hoped or sought to be written about how tough they had it. https://www.armytimes.com/article/20140429/NEWS/304290068/The-last-moments-Jennifer-Moreno-an-Army-nurse-killed-Afghanistan

  8. While I scoffed at it originally, it may be one more argument against TIB...look at how safety-conscious the AF is in all other aspects of the mission. Maybe TIB needs to start filling out ORM sheets before each performance, reviewed by the group commander to ensure risks are mitigated at the appropriate level. Wonder how long it would take to reduce the number of shows and therefore, the cost to the Air Force? Man, I'm sorry I missed that performance. For once, I bet their show actually did boost morale.

  9. Could not have said it better myself. Why can't the folks that are supposed to be subject matter experts at this come up with a simple effective plan like this that is cost effective for the Air Force and fair to it's members? It's so hard to believe that an organization can be as incompetent and useless as much as AFPC is. When this debacle is over these individuals need to meet the equivalent of an FEB and those that have conjured up the financial loss equivalent of a Class A mishap need to be fired. If we can be fired for poor judgement that leads to the loss of millions of dollars then these people need to be held to the same standard!

  10. This is why the A-10 shouldn't go away. Pretty quick flight from DM to the border.

  11. When in the hell are we going to actually protect our own country? N4T Investigators: Rogue Mexican Army troops crossing the line There are about 28,500 US military personnel in South Korea right now assisting in deterrance and defense of the 15th largest economy in the world that also has the 6th largest military (by AD personnel) with a 2.9 million reserve force and we have almost no US military actually stationed on and tasked to defend the southern border. Can we get at least half of that on our border? One can dream though...
