  3. YBGFSM...seriously? Please for the love of God explain why anyone, but to your point a military officer, would think that protecting another country is more important than protecting our own Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. At least they got the U-2s home base correct... Oh, oops. Investigative journalism at its finest.

  6. So not in any way caused by the U-2, but instead by the FAA's crappy computer system... glad that won't get cleared up and will probably be some ammo to stoke the fight to kill the U-2. "It shuts down our ATC!"

  7. This was my logic also. Would I like the PURE freedom to get out and get money in addition? Absolutely. But this SEEMS to be a business decision by the AF and despite being a military, decisions will be made from a business standpoint (IMO). To me the VSP is a gamble, none of us know how they will truly figure this out. PC on the other hand is an easier decision because they aren't completely losing you. Of course I could be way off, but I just got approved in less than 2 days after submitting my PC app with a position number. If some of you are on the fence and have a position number, just think about it because a lot of people are quickly getting approved right now. Good luck everyone. 2007 11M, 4 years 3 months of ADSC remaining

  8. Maybe but why is ok to have their military on the border but if the US did the same that would be "militarization" and just unfair and wrong, we're having to fight this with one hand tied behind our back with a bunch of whiny, bed-wetting lawyers at the ACLU shovel out some BS to keep America from actually defending itself.

  9. So by your reasoning, securing and protecting our actual homeland can take a back seat to protecting South Korea? Because if there was a sudden spike in the usual carnage south of the border and suddenly a 200,000 Mexicans suddenly just pushed their way into San Diego, that would be no big deal? Hundreds of Illegals storm California Border Patrol Here's another little gem about how security on the border with Mexico should be a second thought. Transnational gangs form alliance with Mexican cartel, becoming more sophisticated in trafficking drugs, guns, people “A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation.” President Ronald Reagan

  10. The border is more out of control than the public knows (civilian or military). CBP estimates they only catch maybe a 1/3 of the illegals crossing into the US (anecodotal from a 7 year CBP agent in the busiest sector on the border). We are constantly told the lie that they are just people looking to do "work Americans can or won't do". That's bullshit and only a lie told by corporations and their political pawns who want a weak labor market and short sighted politicians who dream of getting 10+ million new voters. No other country allows itself, that is the key phrase, allows its borders to be so weak when it has the resources it to secure it. It is criminal. Here's an example of one of the fine individuals just "looking for a better life" that violate our laws and are not supposed to be here. Controversial Muslim cleric caught sneaking into U.S. Does anyone really believe that any of our OCONUS missions really take precedence over securing our actual border? Tell me you don't think this guy sneaking in is just the tip of the iceberg...

  14. Irony that the USAF ORM's the heck out of any flight that's taken, yet seems to have no problem having tour buses driving the roads city to city with fatigued as hell drivers, as if this is the 2003 run to Baghdad from Kuwait. Imagine the black eye the image-conscious AF would have if this information was coming out following a multi-vehicle highway accident where a family in a minivan was killed by an AF bus being driven by AF personnel ordered to disregard even the most basic of DOT commercial vehicle safety regulations relating to fatigue/driver duty hours.

  15. The British Army is now running border patrol? And, by the looks of that picture, that's the WHOLE of the British Army, too.

  17. Our concept of civil-military relations* is built largely on the assumption that high-ranking officers will resign rather than carry out policies they know to be foolish. The problem here is that apparently no-one at a high level is willing to resign when faced with objectives they know to be impossible (or perhaps unachievable at a price we are willing to pay, or with methods we are willing to use). *It also presumes a Congress going about it's business in a responsible manner, which is not what we have.

  18. While I scoffed at it originally, it may be one more argument against TIB...look at how safety-conscious the AF is in all other aspects of the mission. Maybe TIB needs to start filling out ORM sheets before each performance, reviewed by the group commander to ensure risks are mitigated at the appropriate level. Wonder how long it would take to reduce the number of shows and therefore, the cost to the Air Force? Man, I'm sorry I missed that performance. For once, I bet their show actually did boost morale.

  19. They're right. The value gained from TIB is worth neither the risk nor the cost.

  21. When in the hell are we going to actually protect our own country? N4T Investigators: Rogue Mexican Army troops crossing the line There are about 28,500 US military personnel in South Korea right now assisting in deterrance and defense of the 15th largest economy in the world that also has the 6th largest military (by AD personnel) with a 2.9 million reserve force and we have almost no US military actually stationed on and tasked to defend the southern border. Can we get at least half of that on our border? One can dream though...
