  1. I hope you're correct. I just called the TFSC, mainly for own twisted entertainment. Here's a brief synopsis of the conversation. My question: What's the status of my VSP app? The AFPC website said mid-May in one place and within 10 days of May 1st in another place. No matter if you look at as 10 business days or calendar days, that time has expired. (puts me on hold to look at my application status) TFSC Rep: I took a look at your application and it says it still processing right now. We don't when they're going to process it. It might be delayed for another week or two. I think there's going to be new guidance coming out possibly delaying the processing further. Me: What? TFSC Rep: Well sir, there's so many rumors and PDSMs floating around now and I can't tell you anything for certain. Me: Well, I'm also subject to the RIF in Oct and the new VSP window open next Thursday and I wouldn't be able to apply in the new VSP window because AFPC hasn't processed my first application. That would be unfair. So, there will be a new PDSM? TFSC Rep: No, no. They'll just release an amended one updating the guidance. Me: Ok. Air Force members call the TFSC to get help. We should be able to get reliable information here. Ok, right now, what can you tell me that's fact, something concrete that I can tell my family? TFSC Rep: Well, sir. Unfortunately, nothing right now. Me: Ok, thank you for your time. We've reach full retard on this process long ago. I just reread this exchange before I'm about to post it and I'm laughing hysterically. But this shit is not funny Also received this email after my phone call. Here's the official response from the email... "Thank you for contacting myPers - Total Force Service Center. All remaining VSP applications will be adjudicated after 1 May 14 to include those inspected by waiver authorities. AFPC intends to inform members of approval status not later than mid May." Enjoy!

  2. AFPC is wrong again. They needed authority to waive certain ADSCs for FY14 Force Management Programs. Remember PDSM 13-65 which outlined all FY14 FM programs and said that certain commitments weren't waiverable, namely UPT. They used 13-65 as an excuse to kick back some VSP apps saying they didn't have waiver authority. Well, they received authority to waive a sh!tton of ADSCs. AFPC needs to stop FVCKING around, read their god damn PSDMs, and then here's the kicker....DO THEIR JOB. If I can sort through all of these PSDMs since December and comprehend what they're saying and do my real job, they can do theirs (which is actually to read the PDSMs and implement them). If this shit keeps up, we're going to need force management resiliency training!

  5. I have a very easy solution to making every dollar count, stop giving me a paycheck! I found the solution for you, you are welcome On a side note, I promised info from the horses mouth, here it is on PTDY PTDY NOW AUTHORIZED FOR VOLUNTARY SEPARATEES IMPACTED BY FORCE MANAGEMENT. DoDI 1327.06 has been updated to reflect the entitlement of Permissive TDY for ALL separatees impacted by force management programs (use atch updated matrix). "An authorized permissive absence may be taken in conjunction with transition by members who are retiring, being separated involuntarily under honorable conditions, or voluntarily separating through a Military Department force reduction or force shaping program." The losing commander may approve up to 20 days for members based in the Continental United States (CONUS), up to 30 days for members stationed outside the Continental United States (OCONUS), and up to 30 days for CONUS-based members who have overseas residences. Use of benefit is subject to mission requirements and unit commander approval. May be taken all at one time or in increments, except in cases of disability retirement or separation in which time constraints dictate that it is taken all at once or not at all. Please begin briefing this new entitlement immediately during preseparation counseling using the updated matrix (attached). PALACE CHASE SEPARATEES & TAP MEDICAL BENEFITS. There have been a number of questions regarding Palace Chase separatees and 180 day Medical Benefits (TA-180). To clarify, Palace Chase Separatees do not receive an SPD Code that conveys TAP Benefits upon separation from Active Duty; however, once gained by a Reserve component (Reserve/Guard), they become eligible for the TA-180. This is temporary coverage until the member's TriCare Select Reserve benefits activate. Again, Palace Chase separatees (SPD codes MGQ, KGQ, and FGQ) are NOT authorized any Active Duty TAP benefits to include TA-180 at the time of separation. It is only upon accession/GAIN to the Reserve Component that they receive TA-180. TAP & WOUNDED WARRIOR EXEMPTIONS. Clarification on Wounded Warrior exemptions from the Department of Labor Employment Workshop. There seems to be confusion on what qualifies a Wounded Warrior as exempt from the DOLEW. The only allowable circumstance for Wounded Warrior's being exempt from the DOLEW is if they are currently enrolled in the Education and Employment Initiative (E2I) or a similar transition program designed to secure employment, higher education, or career technical training post-separation. We want to reiterate that having the status of a Wounded Warrior does NOT automatically grant exemption status - it must be verified that the member is enrolled in some sort of transition program to utilize the exemption. //NAME REMOVED// Airman & Family Sustainment Branch Directorate of Airman & Family Care Headquarters Air Force Personnel Center DSN 665-2311 Comm (210)565-2311 Also like I said, been playing catch up. Don't remember if this has been posted yet. (Free SWA tix for job interviews) Great deal/opportunity for transitioning service members! BLUF: Hire our Heroes (HOH) in partnership with the Armed Forces Foundation (AFF) will provide a free, round-trip ticket to any transitioning vet going on a job interview (final steps/face-to-face) anywhere in the country. https://hireourheroes.org/free-travel/#sthash.91GuTzsz.dpbs

  6. Myself and 2 others from Beale took a day off and flew to Half Moon Bay to attend Eddie's funeral. Saw another BODN pilot from Beale too who drove the 6 hour round trip to be there. We arrived at the Catholic Church about 35 minutes early. We stood in line about 30 min and were turned away. They physically could not get anymore people in the church. I would estimate the crowd at 700-800. It was an unbelievable outpouring of love for Eddie. There was a 4-ship of Mustangs that made 2 passes over the church after Mass. Low and fast. He was a guy that went out of his way to make everyone smile. He was a friend and mentor to so many. He was a great entertainer, airshow pilot, and warbird owner. He is missed.

In June 1948 in one of the first confrontations in the Cold War, the Soviets cut land supply lines to the Allied sectors of West Berlin, which was deep in the Russian controlled Eastern Zone in occupied Germany. The Soviets tried to starve the Allies out of the city. In response the Western Powers organized the massive 24/7 Berlin airlift to carry supplies. This gripping feature length drama starring Montgomery Clift, with a supporting cast of real US servicemen, was shot on location in occupied Germany. It pulls no punches in depicting the challenges, to the point of physical violence, when Americans and Germans, recent enemies, were thrown together by the new reality of post war Europe. * P-61 Black Widow Night Fighters in color. Very rare color P-61 night fighter footage. This is an original documentary I put together from unedited, silent archival film. See the 422nd NFS operating out of Florennes, Belgium. Then you'll move on to the Pacific and the island of Saipan, where you'll see legendary 548th NFS P-61 "Bat Outta Hells." One the highlights of this program is P-61 gun camera film showing a night attack with bombs, rockets and 20mm cannon. * Target for Tonight This classic film follows RAF crew "F for Freddie," a Vicker's Wellington medium bomber (Millerton Station, Group 33), through an entire low level night attack on an oil storage depot at a rail yard, from planning through return to base,. * House Search for World War 2 Spies NEW! From the C.I.A. Archives, a "hands on" agent training film produced by the O.S.S. (Office of Strategic Services) during World War 2 on the art of hiding (and finding) objects & secret information hidden in locations like homes, apartments and hotel rooms. “No Sweat” Flight safety training featuring the F-86D Sabre. Told in a realistic "Film Noire" style, this film was produced by USAFE (United States Air Force, Europe) and filmed on location in Germany in the 1950s in order to cut down on costly air accidents resulting from pilot error. Seemingly trivial mistakes sometimes led to SNAFUs -- or worse. You'll follow a pilot flying an F-86D through what should have been a routine hop, but turns into anything but! * Medium Bombardment & Attack featuring the B-25.This unique film was made to train B-25 & A-20 medium bomber squadrons transitioning from Europe to the Pacific, with a focus on the North American B-25. These groups were primarily tasked with ground and anti-ship attacks, inflicting huge losses on Japanese forces. Different tactics are shown as well as steps taken to modify B-25s for ground attack. Great footage of extremely low level actions! * Design for War: U-Boat Attack (Victory at Sea). NEW! From 1939 to 1941 the German Navy accelerated U-Boat production and unleashed their subs in the Atlantic, while the Allies scrambled to defend vulnerable convoys. Captured German film shows U-Boat C--in-C Admiral Karl Donitz and leading U-Boat aces like top scorer Günther Prien (200,000 tons sunk) in action. This period of great success was known as Die Glückliche Zeit (The Happy Time) by U-Boat crews. * Killers and the Killed: The Allies turn the tables on the U-Boats. (Victory at Sea) NEW! From 1942 to1945 the Western Allies built a string of air bases around and across the Atlantic to extend air cover over convoys for their entire voyage and launched numerous anti-sub aircraft carriers. German U-Boats were no longer safe in the Atlantic and losses mounted rapidly. Rare film of anti-submarine aircraft variants like the Lockheed Ventura, maritime versions of the B-24 Liberator and the Martin PBM Mariner. We also show 1940-45 vintage WWII Army & Navy films and pilot's manuals on how to fly the F4U, F6F, P-38, P-39, P-40, P-47, P-51, P-61, TBF/TBM, AT-6/SNJ, B-17, B-24, B-25, A-20, A-26, B-26, B-29, and Stearman N2S. Alert! - don't miss the F-86, B-47 & B-58!
