  1. That's why I use a clipboard. I think that extra touch (sts) of professionalism goes along way towards establishing credibility. FWIW, so far I'm been getting impressive results, 8.27 mean rating w/ a standard deviation of 1.27 among all female-nursing-students. However, among female-nursing-students-who-have-consumed-at-least-3-drinks-in-the-last-hour, my average rating jumps to 9.87 with a standard deviation of .07. I think this could be a major break through, but much more research is needed. Speaking of alcohol, that Hagel article is one of the most ridiculous things I've seen in a long time. But also in 99.997% of alcohol events, no sexual assault occurs. Which will push alcohol off base and to communities further away, where there will less ability for us to police our own. Further taking focus away from the mission Is there any evidence that people who buy 5 bottles of bourbon at 0200 are more likely to assault someone? Restricting the hours the Class Six is open only forces people to plan ahead further or to go off base. Is this belief based on facts? If so, do we understand the linkage? Will a 10.7% reduction in binge drinking result in a 10.7% reduction in sexual assault? Do we know that happy-hour drink specials lead to binge drinking? If so, are the sexual assaults that are inexorably linked to binge drinking linked to the binge drinking that results from going to O-Club at 1600 or the binge drinking that occurs at Lt Col Wilkerson's house parties? More simply, do we know of any cases where an on-base drink special played a significant role in a sexual assault? Ok, so now rapists will have to buy their victims dinner first. Not really addressing the problem.

  2. Better check yourself with throwing out the racist card. Not every illegal alien is someone just coming here looking for work. If you actually did the job of working down the border areas, you would know the numbers of hard-core felons that are caught coming across the border into the country. People with wants/warrants for rape, murder, sex crimes, child crimes, human and weapons smuggling, kidnapping; and the list goes on. Go to the ICE detention center in Florence, AZ and see who is being held there that were caught by BP. And that's only those who were caught. Who knows how many haven't been. That is the reason there isn't an open gate to the border nor should there be. While yes, the immigration system in this country does need some streamlining and updating, simply opening the border wholesale isn't the way to fix that problem. Holding those who hire and exploit the cheap labor illegals provide, preying on their fear of never going to the police to complain, is what needs to be done. Come down here and work the desert southwest sometime. It would blow your mind what kind of people are caught and what their backgrounds are......or even what they're currently caught in the act of doing. Until then, your exercise in pure academia is nothing more than that.

  5. Let's see, I earn money that is my private property. The government then takes their cut. I'd like to limit that cut to those funds required for the operational needs of the nation and not any more. By allowing anyone and everyone to wander into our Continental Kegger and pull up a beer, we are now on the hook for education, for medical, and for ensuring basic nutrition and shelter. I could give you a quick little tour in our neck of the woods with a good number of non-english speaking elementary students or maybe hang out in the Emergency Room at a Fort Worth hospital with a whole lot more non-english speaking folks. Government is not some obscure, distant relative. Government is "We the People." By saying "We" should pay for something, you are saying "I" should pay for something. And I vote no. If you want to pay for it, good for you, knock yourself out. And if you are going to talk the talk, you should walk the walk. Open up your home and wallet to anyone and everyone who needs the space. Like Thatcher said, socialism is easy until you run out of other peoples money. That being said, I've had some nice conversations and associations with a PhD Chemist from Belarus, a couple engineers, Electrical and Nuclear from India, a doctor from Ireland, and a Veterinarian from Australia. All had amazing stories and are thriving here. I'll take all of those guys we can get.

  6. Sorry Cornholio but I can't resist. "Thats as good as money, sir. Those are I.O.U.s. Go ahead and add it up, every cents accounted for. Look, see this? Thats a car. 275 thou. Might wanna hang onto that one." We need something to laugh about

  7. So your solution is to allow unlimited migration here which would be "self correcting." What type of self correcting are we talking? I've been to wonderful places like Haiti, Caracas, and Mexico City and I guess you would be happy if we corrected to the economic and political dynamics that occur in those wonderful tourist destinations. They come to the U.S. for a better life. I understand that. I also understand that resources are limited and would really like to use your residence for a demonstration of that principle. I am accumulating quite the list for moving into your house and you have yet to send an address with invitations. You'll take care of their healthcare, right?

  9. Open borders, amnesty, long term high immigration (legal & illegal) pick your poison, are not wise national policies. Allowing in more low-skilled workers (and their dependents) will cost much more than they will ever contribute in terms of payroll taxes and depress the wages of the working poor and working class. What Vertigo proposes (ostensibly a free market of labor which really is just a race to the bottom) can not ever be as Mexico or whatever labor exporting country you want to pick will not allow a reciprocal move to open it's economy or society, again the elites of the third world don't care a whit about their own poor and just expect the gringos to let them in, thereby solving their problem of a dissatisfied mass of poor. We are enabling some of the worst governance / inattention by turning a blind eye to this and allowing it to continue. Robert Rector’s Study: Open Borders + Welfare State = Disaster Build the fence(s) - Patrol the border - Arrest & Fine the illegal EMPLOYERS - Deport the illegals when they are arrested

  10. I completely agree Cornholio! For the brief month or so that we had our Friday pieces of flair I nixed my plans to PC into the ANG/Reserves, didn't want to kill myself, and not once did I sexually assault someone! But now that it is gone...here's no telling what I might do. I should log into ADLS to see whether there is a CBT that will properly train me to handle this traumatic incident.

  11. Can you imagine that traveling circus? It'd be like an army of Mormon missionaries in spangly pants. :: knock, knock :: "Hello?" "Hello sir, do you have a moment to talk about our lord & savior, Jazz Hands?" "...No" "Well, just in case, here's a pamphlet describing how awesome TIB is to everyone inside TIB. ::whispers:: everyone outside thinks we suck & we're crazy, but they just don't get it" "...Get off my lawn" "But sir, we're relevaaaant!!!"

  15. I'm very interested to know too. In reference to the description of containment as a tactic; when it comes to TTPs, the mission of CFR is fairly simple: utilize suppression assets to either 1. Provide for an egress path out of the aircraft for survivors, or 2. Provide a rescue path for FFs to go in and extract those who aren't able to perform item #1. To that regard, actually putting the whole fire out is secondary to rescue; a close second, mind you, but secondary. Of course, this does have to do with larger aircraft and a fire involvement to a degree where spending precious resources fighting the actual fire, will take away from the 2 items I mentioned above. CFR trucks pump at a rate where their onboard supply is depleted in about 1-2 minutes, depending on gallonage and flow rate, and it takes time for the nurse tenders to get setup to replenish the primary CFR vehicles. That's why you see the tactics exercised in the way they are where it appears that its "only" containment. That said, every CFR department trains in what tactics to use for different sized airframes, and every CFR department knows that flexibility is key (or should know). Every accident is responded to with haste consistent with safe arrival of the assets to the scene (more than one of these high-CG CFR trucks has suffered an accidental rollover during a hasty response to an aircraft emergency). BL is, a judgement call will always be made as to whether any post-crash fire can hit fast and put out with the supplies available prior to replenishment, or whether the above described tactics of supporting rescue first, and full suppression secondary, is more appropriate. At an airshow, you can have "backup" or secondary trucks at the station, where the crews are lounging or watching the show or whatnot. However, those would be the structural trucks/crews, as well as the crash trucks which are designated as second-due to a call. That's no issue, and no problem; no different than day to day ops. However, there must still be a first due, and in this case of non-standard flying operations and most especially an airshow, that first due.......at least a rescue truck, and one or two crash trucks........should be posted up somewhere near show center, close enough to have an immediate response, yet not so close as to impede views of the crowd (this is fairly easy to do). While those crews don't necessarily need to be in full ready gear in its entirety, they need to at least be partially bunkered out, to the point where they can easily complete it enroute to the scene and be able to deploy at the ready once handline or rescue operations begin, depending on which unit they're assigned to. The FAA standard (accepted standard) for CFR response on any airport where CFR is required (not required at all civil fields, only fields with scheduled or unscheduled air carrier service meeting certain pax numbers), is within 3 minutes, the first vehicle capable of fire suppression operations must be able to reach the midpoint of the furthest runway from the station. Hence why at larger airports, there are multiple stations. Within 4 minutes, supporting or second-due CFR vehicles are required to be arriving at the same point. Why the response took as long as it did at SUU, I don't have that information yet. In that regard, my concern with this one isn't the tactical planning or ops on scene, it's the strategic planning or apparent lack thereof.

  16. Not sure if the root cause is the FITREP system or something else, but in my experience Navy officers tend to be backstabbers. Chiefs, however, tend to be solid dudes.

  17. Yep. Way more. He could have delayed and said "Eject, Eject, Eject" allowing the plane to continue rolling out of control. This delay would have put them nose down, inverted, below 1000' when they exited the jet, or he could pull the handles at less than 90 degrees bank as soon as he realized the jet was out of control. They would be morts if he delayed any longer. The WSO is extremely happy he was ejected from the jet when he was. It is easy to second guess a newspaper article. The story is way better first hand.

  18. Keeping borders closed restricts human freedom. Restrictions on the right to migrate are only moral if there is clear evidence of very bad consequences. Even then it could be questionable. What are you defending by keeping an immigrant from entering? Undue pressure on your culture? Wage protection from a more competitive foreigner? If it's pressure on your culture, does that mean you have the right to keep blacks out of your white neighborhood as well? If it's wage protection does that mean you can keep a younger competitor willing to work for less from attending a job interview by any means possible? Or is it just because it's the law and the state has the right to enforce its laws? Where does the state get those rights? From its citizens, correct? The government cannot have any rights that its citizens do not possess. And no citizen has the right to deny immigrants access across a border, or do we? If yes, does that mean I can restrict you from entering my state? After all you're not a citizen of my state, or my city, or my neighborhood. If we as individuals don't have the right to close borders, then how can the state have that right? Or perhaps you think U.S. citizens collectively own the land which makes our nation. And through the democratic process we've transferred part of the ownership to the government. Does that do the trick? Well no. There is plenty of land in the U.S. owned by foreigners and foreign entities that do not get to vote and therefor have no say in that democratic process that transfers ownership to the government. And if the government does own the land, that means they could decide who you can invite over to your next BBQ, or your Superbowl party and that's just absurd.

  19. If the system was set up so that there was no incentive to be here illegally, but rather legally, which route do you think they would take? This isn't rocket science. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! And if immigrants were given the opportunity to come in and contribute to that burden rather than the current system that makes it more appealing to be here illegally, who do you think would be paying for it? Themselves. Every other reason anyone has mentioned has been a complete "I got mine, fuck anyone else that dreams of obtaining the same." Is there limited resources and opportunities? Yes, and that makes it self correcting, just like a free market. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

  23. Thanks for proving what I said earlier- The problem is self correcting. When too many immigrants come the resources and available jobs become very limited and with it the incentive to immigrate. Many would even choose to self deport at that point! Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!
