Mine were ready the next day! But we have our own personnelist here. And since I've just been lurking until now: Approved 2006 11M (130H/T6) 3 years 8 months UPT ADSC waived I had applied for voluntary separation under pregnancy/childbirth first, then applied for VSP as soon as that was denied. Apparently, it was not in the best interest of the AF to let me go in Feb for free, but it is to pay me to leave in July (and pay me to not fly while pregnant, be on maternity leave, then PTDY, and terminal leave in the meantime). I'd like to think someone at AFPC had my back by denying that first application, but I think I'd be giving them too much credit.3 points

And leave them at the first stopover location for 2-3 weeks while waiting on a replacement aircraft.2 points

Every good article has to have some kind of long drawn out simile. My favorite was from a chief that told me to wear my uniform properly because his childhood neighbor mowed his lawn and painted his mailbox.1 point

Common occurrence in Mexico, except that they aren't mannequins! Looks like the border with Mexico is getting less secure every day. Puts a little more emphasis on why we need to defend it a lot better than we currently are...1 point

Take down the door and walls, eh? Someone please carve "Manchester" into the wall immediately.1 point

The Army would have upgraded the Apache fleet regardless. They've never been happy to rely on another service for air support, regardless of the quality of that support. That said, of the legacy fighters the A-10 is the only one that would provide unique capability once the F-35 shows up in full force, assuming it lives up to the promises. Makes me wonder what that unique capability could truly be if we invested in a modern RF jamming system. Having said all that, the long endurance CAS stack right on top of the friendlies isn't survivable in a modern battlefield. Regardless of the fighter dropping the ordnance, we need to invest in the JTAC side of the equation both training and technology. The other big A-10 mission area (I'm biased, I know) is CSAR, while just about any fighter can do the Sandy 1/2 mission given the training; the Sandy 3/4 mission is a different story. We either need to arm the helos to self escort, which adds weight (always a problem with helos) or shift to another platform that can overfly the low altitude threat. Problem right now is the Osprey can't pressurize, and has no real weapons and is a crappy hover platform. The FVL is 15 years away at the earliest, and the Army is leading it up, so who knows what they'll pick. We've leveraged the farm on the F-22/F-35 combo, but I think we've sold other missions down the river in the process; at least for the next 15ish years. But I've been known to be wrong on more than one occasion.1 point

I wanted to be an Air Force pilot my entire life and if you asked anyone that knew me back in AFROTC they would tell you I would stay in for a full career. However once I got into the "real" Air Force I found the focus in C-17s to be about anything but flying. I was never talked to by management about my last tactical approach but about how I was an "embarrassment" for not having my zippers zipped to the appropriate length etc. Thinking that it must be an AMC thing I headed over to T-6s to see if the grass was greener. However it was anything but. Regardless of how hard I worked as a USEM or Chief of Programming I was given second class treatment by our fighter centric management who were the castoffs from the F-15 community. Fear, sarcasm, and intimidation are their tactics in managing a squadron as I came to find out. They looked after their bro network and literally couldn't care about any of my goals or desires to become A PIT instructor FCF pilot you name it. The kicker was my squadron commander directly lied to my face about how I was not selected for 2+2 because of time on station when in reality he never pushed my application beyond the squadron level. I wish the next assignment would mean an improvement however seeing the calibre of the people the Air Force Deems fit for command leads me to believe that VSP is the best option for me The Air Force has helped me out as an aviator in so many ways but it's time to move on with a new phase of my life where I decide who I want to work for, where I want to live and how I wish to live.1 point

Better check yourself with throwing out the racist card. Not every illegal alien is someone just coming here looking for work. If you actually did the job of working down the border areas, you would know the numbers of hard-core felons that are caught coming across the border into the country. People with wants/warrants for rape, murder, sex crimes, child crimes, human and weapons smuggling, kidnapping; and the list goes on. Go to the ICE detention center in Florence, AZ and see who is being held there that were caught by BP. And that's only those who were caught. Who knows how many haven't been. That is the reason there isn't an open gate to the border nor should there be. While yes, the immigration system in this country does need some streamlining and updating, simply opening the border wholesale isn't the way to fix that problem. Holding those who hire and exploit the cheap labor illegals provide, preying on their fear of never going to the police to complain, is what needs to be done. Come down here and work the desert southwest sometime. It would blow your mind what kind of people are caught and what their backgrounds are......or even what they're currently caught in the act of doing. Until then, your exercise in pure academia is nothing more than that.1 point

Did you just sit around listening to a lot of John Lennon when you typed this? Really? Do you own your F'ing house? Are those locks on your doors not a restriction of the rights and privileges of passage and occupying your property? Why don't you go ahead and invite the maximum number of people you thing you can reasonably feed, cloth, and shelter with your given budget. Then have 10 more sneak through a window and demand the same treatment. Immigration is the occupation of space and the consumption of resources relative to a given area. The last part is particularly the most important part of this conversation. No different than a Hospital ER has an ability to conduct triage to insure the most effective use of its limited resources a country has the right to restrict its borders. No one would expect a person to take on the burden over an unsustainable demand on their given resource limit but somehow America is supposed to just continuously pass out finite resources to people who commit nothing to the system (ie taxes). That's the problem with illegal immigration. Nobody has a problem with us bringing the family of the guy acting as a translator in Afghanistan to help us out as quid pro quo. We are pisses about an I defended point of entry that is the Mexican border allowing both leaching mirgrants and criminals/threats.1 point

Really? Really? ... really? Do you not know how D.C. works? Those with the money and power use that money and power to change the rules to keep them in the money and power and to limit others ability to gain that money and power. Do you not know that the head of the FCC was a lobbyist for the cable industry prior to current his current gig? Where do you think he'll go back to work once these cable (read internet providers) companies get their legislation passed and his tenure is over? edit: I accidentally a word1 point

I still want to hear about the rest (most) of the war when stealth has done its job, most IADs are down and troops need CAS, who will operate in that niche where AAA/MP are the threat? Tell me the aircraft designed to operate in a high AAA/MP threat environment. I wonder how the F-35 does against barrage fire?1 point

Keeping borders closed restricts human freedom. Restrictions on the right to migrate are only moral if there is clear evidence of very bad consequences. Even then it could be questionable. What are you defending by keeping an immigrant from entering? Undue pressure on your culture? Wage protection from a more competitive foreigner? If it's pressure on your culture, does that mean you have the right to keep blacks out of your white neighborhood as well? If it's wage protection does that mean you can keep a younger competitor willing to work for less from attending a job interview by any means possible? Or is it just because it's the law and the state has the right to enforce its laws? Where does the state get those rights? From its citizens, correct? The government cannot have any rights that its citizens do not possess. And no citizen has the right to deny immigrants access across a border, or do we? If yes, does that mean I can restrict you from entering my state? After all you're not a citizen of my state, or my city, or my neighborhood. If we as individuals don't have the right to close borders, then how can the state have that right? Or perhaps you think U.S. citizens collectively own the land which makes our nation. And through the democratic process we've transferred part of the ownership to the government. Does that do the trick? Well no. There is plenty of land in the U.S. owned by foreigners and foreign entities that do not get to vote and therefor have no say in that democratic process that transfers ownership to the government. And if the government does own the land, that means they could decide who you can invite over to your next BBQ, or your Superbowl party and that's just absurd.-1 points

Thanks for proving what I said earlier- The problem is self correcting. When too many immigrants come the resources and available jobs become very limited and with it the incentive to immigrate. Many would even choose to self deport at that point! Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!-1 points
