  2. All locations have shit that people complain about. Charleston has bad traffic and is too humid, it's always raining in Seattle and You never see the sun, England and Alaska are fucking too cold, blah blah blah.. Hell Honolulu has some of the worst schools in the nation/insane traffic and people complain about island fever Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  3. I've always been partial to the Dodge Ram 1500. I've owned a '99 and an '08, and I only sold them because of two OCONUS PCSs. This review of the '14 Ecodiesel has me looking really closely at getting my third when I go back. https://www.motortrend.com/oftheyear/truck/1402_2014_ram_1500_is_motor_trend_2014_truck_of_the_year/photo_31.html

  4. When airstrikes aren't good enough/getting the job done-who do you call? Answer; General Allen and General Petraeus. https://www.airforcetimes.com/article/20140911/NEWS08/309110064/Former-Afghanistan-commander-John-Allen-coordinate-Iraq-Syria-effort https://www.airforcetimes.com/article/20140912/NEWS08/309120039/Petraeus-Obama-Iraq-plan-good-starting-point ISIS better stand-by for the coming 24/7, Phase 2 (Allen/Patraeus) generated, barrage/onslaught of flirtatious emails and sexting. They're toast now.

  6. This whole thing is a self-cleaning microwave oven. Let it do what it's going to do. At worst, we can mop up whatever is left over.

  8. I upgraded from a 2002 to a 2011 F-150 4x4 XLT. I routinely haul a race motorcycle and my equipment with me to tracks. Pros: - 5.0 has a lot of power, cruise just under 80 for hours and get 15.5 MPG. 80-85+ you can tell that it is not shaped like a Corvette. - Cabin noise is pretty silent - 15.2 MPG commuting to base on 87 octane. EcoBoost requires 91/93. - The digital dash has a cool flat panel screen that gives you neat info about your truck (mpg, servicing, truck climb/roll angle, front wheel deflection.) - Every part of it feels like it is built like a tank - Turning radius is significantly better than my 2002. - 36 gallon tank is awesome - Brakes are awesome. - No issues with the tailgate supporting myself, a 400lb bike, and ramp weight. Cons: - It's too f'n big. I wanted a Tacoma but they're nearly the same size, and haven't been updated since 2005. - Blind spots. The improved side mirrors help, but the rear seats are set up so that the headrests block the corners of the truck when looking behind to back up. - Nitpicky, but because everything is bigger, it takes two hands to put on the seat belt as opposed to one motion in my older truck. Pedantic, but annoying. - Stereo was lesser quality then the Dodge Ram 1500 rental I had. The dot matrix 2 line radio screen looks a bit hokey compared to the sweet LCD in my dash. - The MPG it calculates is exactly .5 MPH too generous every fill up. - It's too f'n big. Bring back the Ford Ranger. - With the Ford OEM bedliner, the hooks are set into the plastic so they are a pain to get tie downs on - With a 36 gallon tank, most pumps automatically shut off at $95/$100 so you have to do two transactions every fill up. - The center bench seat is awkwardly big when down, yet awkwardly flat to sit in when up. Also, the headrest blocks your rear view. If I had to do it again, I'd definitely buy the truck, but get one with a backup camera. I'd also wait for the 2015 F-150s coming out here soon.. They have all new engine options and a potential game changer of an all aluminum body that gives dramatic weight savings.

  10. Had a Chevy truck for 8 years and had nothing but problems. I've had 3 Toyota trucks, one with 240,000 miles and had zero problems. I would recommend a Tacoma over a Tundra unless you'll always be in areas with wide lanes and big parking lots. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

  11. I drove them all and got a Tundra. The F-150 was nice but I've pretty much gone all Toyota since I got a Tacoma in 07. Besides the Tacoma I've had a couple of land cruisers and a Sienna. The quality and reliability is much better than any domestic, imo.

  12. Tundras are built in San Antonio, IIRC. Part of the plant is built on a ranch dating back to 1794. Hence, the 1794 Tundra version. Expensive, but nice. Got a 2002 Tundra which is smaller than the current version. Standard maintenance done by me. Only problem has been an O2 sensor which I replaced.

  13. Nice soundbite. Toyota makes 4 of the top 10 Most American vehicles. #5 is the Tundra. 7 of the top 10 are Honda or Toyota. As recently as 2011, the Tundra was more "American" than the F-150. So if you want American-made in 2014, just don't buy GM or Dodge. (In fairness, yes, I know there are other indexes with different weightings that end up with different results. Point is nothing is "American" or "Foreign" anymore.) My GM truck was built in Indiana. So was my Toyota Highlander.)

  14. Had a 98 Tacoma for years. Beat the hell out of it off-road and it never missed a beat. If I had the $$ and didn't mind the size (bigger than Ford/GMC), I'd get a Tundra. As it is, my next truck will be another Tacoma. My current GMC has been a pain.

  15. I own an '08 Tundra and love it. Definitely has a ton of power (5.7 L V8) and very reliable. I've had zero maintenance problems with it and owned it for 3 years.
