I usually don't listen to people who talk about a particular MDS's lifestyle, then state they don't fly it.5 points

Oh SNAPs... Do you agree with everything posted here? No? Awesome! Do you read everything posted here? No? Awesome! Does everything posted here represent you? No? Awesome! Free speech is not always tasteful or informed. But we sure dont need anymore thought policing than we've already got. I think some of you behave like teenage dickheads. I also think there are plenty of good dudes out there who genuinely try to help folks or at the least interact and learn from someone outside their own community. Sometimes it gets ugly, and has to be cleaned up. Some would argue that the site is negatively focused because of the recent buffoonery the USAF experienced re: force management. And there aren't as many kids trolling in to ask questions - largely thanks to folks policing the site. But the worry about "spouses and airmen" reading what is written here means there is something to hide. Which I'm not sure there is - if there is, maybe it shouldn't be posted. I know I've grown up, and regret some of the dumb shit I've said here, but that doesn't mean I think there should be more controls over who sees what on an open forum. USAFPilot I get what you're saying and see where you're going with this but the juice ain't worth your visions squeeze. The goal here should be MORE anonymous participation, including senior leadership, not more regulation and firewalls so you can control who reads it and you can "put yourself out there." Because people won't. Plain and simple. Chuck5 points

You don't represent me. I love freedom so much that I want more than what they say I can have. I say what is on my mind and this forum is a great place for that kind of free thought. Don't like it? Don't read it! Just like I replaced your "words" with the common noise called "blah" because I didn't read it. And when people make asses of themselves, and they do, we usually do a good job of calling that crap out. If you want a non-public forum, post on af.mil. Vote with your comments and take them elsewhere. Go start your own site with the like minded and see how much fun you can have. Maybe it'll work out for you. Now get off my lawn. Out4 points

Dude she's a cheerleader. Look at her uniform. If she has a problem being ogled then she chose the wrong line of work. Giving our Beagle driver credit, I'm sure she's down-to-earth enough that she take said ogling in stride. Not everyone is as hyper-sensitive and girly as your namesake QB.2 points

So the whiners win out. Typical. Edit to add: typical for today's Air Force. I expected more here. Mod that deleted content is weak for caving to Sandy vaginas2 points

Disagree. It's difficult to look at everything in context because one of the moderators (not me) deleted a majority of the posts that were deemed offensive or inflammatory. In my first post (which is still there), I simply said that the guy was in the 492nd based on his patch. After several people posted ridiculous physical flaws in what we all agree is an extremely attractive woman, I took their words and put them into a picture with "2/10 would not bang" at the bottom. For those who are unfamiliar with that meme, here's the summary: Not only was it a joke, it was pointing out the idiocy of those critiquing her. So for some hypersensitive idiot to get up in arms and try to imply that my post was offensive to her was absolutely ridiculous. The SARC comment comes from the fact that stupid shit like this trivializes the real problem, and we end up having "morale and welfare checks" where - ironically - this picture would have been removed from his office or any public workspace because people feel that it contributes to a sexually hostile work environment. As far the email jab, I'll take that, but I didn't lay low around here at the time, I simply didn't post anything in that particular thread.2 points

Here are the post stats by month since January 2011, take from them what you will... While the numbers may be down for the past few months, that seems to occur every year. Now, whether the content is to everyone's satisfaction is something entirely different; but we all learned a long time ago that you can't please everyone! However, for the most part, the vast majority of our Maybe we need to reinstate the following...2 points

There is no decline here. As long as there are good dudes willing to mentor the willing and the willing accept debriefing accordingly there is no drama. I have lurked here since 2003 as a young ROTC puke, with dreams dashed of flying the a10Read my thread about IFF... to flying the b1 to now flying in afsoc I don't understand the drama here. I have received advice from CGOs as a Cadet and have been schooled by senior leaders all as a result of being affiliated with this site. I hope I'm still here in 10 years contributing. Wow- I can't believe I'm going to say this, but imo the moderation here has gotten BETTER than in years past. At least from my perspective. I think the mods know they weren't correct when they changed people's posts, etc. If someone feels they were chased off then that's on them for not sticking up. Hell I've had multiple attempts of someone(s) try to chase me out of here, but guess what... I'm still here making people roll their eyes. Because I believe when a mod crosses a line, the other mods hold that person accountable. That said I do have warnings that are over 5 years old now, but whatever. Has the content been a bit stale lately? Sure. But maybe that's because that's what these "new Air Force" users are bringing to the table. Don't like the content? Then post the shit you do like, or don't and keep bitching about it. I can agree that you should need to be a registered user here to view the info, but requiring a .mil address:? GTFO.1 point

No shit. I don't know about GTFO, but everyone definitely needs to LTFU.1 point

No shit. Being a fighter pilot with an NFL cheerleader girlfriend fiancee, isn't that what we all dreamed of as teenagers?* I guarantee the majority of the haters are either gay or angry at life as their 351lb dependopatamus is nagging them to get off the computer and rub her hooves. *Except Eagle queers, not that there's anything wrong with that.1 point

Awesome. I just finished typing a lengthy reply and then dropped my laptop. Here's the highlights: Membership is up, page views are fairly steady with a slight decline in September (normal fluctuations). I've built apps and I'm still trying to find a way to get people logged in from work (if you're into that kind of thing). I would be open to setting up a sub-forum that is "approved members only", but it takes a lot of time and effort to manage something like that. Guardreservejobs is a giant pain in the ass. Every time I get it working again, within a few weeks I'm working with a three letter agency to figure out who keeps hitting my database. I love the concept, but it's going to be a while before it's ready to re-launch. JQP is more than welcome to post on BODN forums! I wish he would, maybe it would breathe some new life into our forums. If he's interested in writing a column on the new BODN website, I'll definitely be hitting him up when the new site is ready.1 point

jesus christ...who woulda thought proposing to your professional cheerleader girlfriend at a NFL game in your bag after you get home from deployment gets both of you shit on by your "bros." public congrats are in order for both of them...giving him shit at the squadron bar could also be appropriate.1 point

So, let's take those critiques as the aviators we are and figure out how to fix it. Without Rich at the helm, we maybe need to re-visit his "commanders intent" for the forums and take a look at what we can do to make it better. Seperate thread addressing this anyone? I sure care a hell of a lot more about the forums than I do about the Afghans I am trying to advise.1 point

Unless you happen to live near Dallas...or maybe share a base with a unit tasked to West Africa. I'm not panicking...but I have elevated my ebola response from "passing interest" to "mild concern". I may even elevate to "moderate alarm" when folks start rotating back home from Africa.1 point

You're missing the point. I would venture to guess that most of us are well aware of the 2/10 meme. I don't think anyone was implying that she was unattractive. We get the joke. When the posts were made of a woman holding a phallic object (ref the "gummy" comments) and "would not bang", the conversation turned from making fun of our Strike Pig driver bro to hyper-sexualizing his soon-to-be wife. Not all women are "asking" to be ogled and treated like a piece of meat. I hope that we would make the assumption that, until proven otherwise, every woman - especially a bro's fiancé - is deserving of being treated like a lady.-2 points
