I know some will make up the difference between mil pay and your job pay for up to a year while on orders, there this program that companies sign up for to pledge support for vets. ill look it up, might give you some ammo?
The former DO is working on his ATP as we speak. The old CC went back to being Chief Nav and is almost ready to retire. The new guys were already in the unit and are good dudes...and really the only other two leadership-ready ARTs still around.
Edited to make a distinction between the current DO and the former DO.
I'll be almost 32 by my UPT start date as a non prior and a buddy of mine from a Midwest unit who is prior service will be starting UPT at 32. There are definitely units out there that are willing to take a chance, you just have to show them your commitment, have an awesome attitude, and bring some good experience to the table.
Which is exactly why taking an asset like the A-10, which can work across the entire battlespace, and passing it to the Army (in the retirement debate) and tethering it to a ground commander worried about a few kilometers would be a total waste. The lack of tactical focus Lawman pointed out is also worrying.
