  1. Mods- Feel free to delete if this is not allowed and I apologize in advance. Friends, I have decided to run for U.S Congress in the 6th Congressional District here in the DFW area. I can no longer sit on the sidelines, watching the out of control spending, the rampant corruption, the constant threat of military benefit cuts, and the do-nothing career politicians who care more about keeping their jobs than they do about service to this nation. I'm fed up with it and I'm confident my background will provide a good foundation to stand up to the problems in D.C. This campaign is going to be brutal. I'm going to run for the Republican nomination against a 30 year incumbent, Joe Barton. The odds are severely stacked against me. However, I'm confident I can win. We have an excellent strategy in place and a clear path to victory. If I didn't think I could win, I wouldn't waste my time. I appreciate any support, advice, and connections you guys can give me that may give me a leg up. We will need all the help we can get! I have been on the forum for over 10 years now and I truly value the opinions and ideas you guys have. Thanks! Steven

  2. You know what's wrong with this is the fact that budderbar has to wonder what his commander is trying to say. I won't speak for communities I don't know, but at least within the fighter community, we are so good at providing unfiltered feedback in the tactical debrief, but so absolutely abhorrent at providing feedback on OPRs, job performance, bar-act, officership, etc. Budderbar should have had his commander sit him down and say, "Hey, just so you're not confused, here is what I'm trying to say on this OPR, and here is why, and here is how I am hoping a promotion board will interpret this. If you wouldn't have done this and would start doing this, here's how it should look next year." Feedback like this doesn't happen from a big AF program telling us to, it starts at a grassroots level like this. Cheers, Budderbar.

  3. A special snowflake such as you needs to be immediately identified by your chain of command, so be sure to call your commander before you show up. Ask him to start working on an exemption to policy (ETP) memo for you to ensure it's ready when you arrive. That way, you can quickly eschew the dorms and move into that cushy apartment off base. After all, you're a 2nd Lt, and you deserve a nice place. Since all of your hard work has made you the high-speed guy you are, make sure to schedule an appointment with the WG/CC shortly after you arrive to discuss his discriminatory policies. There, be sure to have a multi-page report prepared that outlines your various accomplishments so far in your illustrious ROTC career (to include pictures of your ROTC ribbon rack and information about all the job experience and cadet rank you accumulated at your detachment) so he can know you're the real deal. All that should help your case and promptly get you identified as a rising star in your community. Nowadays, you can't start that process too soon, so hit the ground running!

  4. very cool...good luck! couple ideas: - get a real picture taken...the camera phone picture in the hallway is unprofessional - go easy on attacking the incumbent; you are playing a game that you are new to, and I have a feeling a man with 30 years of experience playing that game will run circles around you

  5. Or better yet, honest feedback is given person-person and the OPR doesn't have special code that only CC's or execs can decipher. Ideally, it would be easily interpreted by anyone that reads it.

  6. Thank heavens. Now, about that entitled attitude of yours....

  7. How is a #3 of 6 stratification from first line rater/O-5 CC interpreted by promotion boards? Is my rater trying to send a negative message with a strat like this? I immediately took it as a negative as I interpret it to be "this guy is average at best". My senior rater/O-6 CC stratified me #3 of 10. Not sure what to make of it.

  9. Don't need to be a qualified IP before you step to HMN. I know this because some of the folks my sq sent to HMN were not in the IPUG que before they left... While I empathize with the conundrum, this is wholly the AF's doing. This is the second time in less than a decade that the AF has had to gut the line units to plus up the FTU, so that they can then ramp up output. But that was just an accident, and it only happened twice... Hopefully, in addition to doubling down on bad ideas, the AF takes this opportunity to ramp up some meaningful 18X production. That's the long term fix--rated presence among a core field of 18X'ers. There will never be enough 11's to fill the need, especially with the wave of the future going to less #'s of gold plated airframes on the ramp. But with more 18X'ers, there should be more that percolate to the top (WIC, school, etc.)--enough to at some point allow the weak swimmers to be culled from the herd [*gasp* adhering to actual standards?].

  10. Military Career Decision Survey It's probably the best and most honest survey I've seen during my time in the AF. I did my part in letting the AF know how I feel. I hope everyone else takes the time to do the same.

  11. Sounds like my 180+ non-flying to Bagram. We had a volunteer in the squadron to go but he was a 1Lt. The position called for a rated O-4 / senior O-3 with no waiver authority to change the requirement. Because of that, our volunteer couldn't go and I got non-vol'd instead. So I show up to Bagram and my counter-part (same position) was a non-rated 1Lt... Needless to say I was pissed!

  12. Words fail me. UPT direct was a worse idea than the "one way door" mantra peddled when I got my assignment. The AF's inability to turn the simplest of Lessons Learned into practice is breathtaking.

  13. My afsc is 92t3 and I'm going to Randolph. And that's not fair at all, where is my girlfriend supposed to live then? That's really discriminatory against unmarried couples! I didn't do all this work to go back to a dorm room! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk

  14. Actually guys it looks like we were overreacting. It turns out they agree with me and I can live off base after all! Nothing to worry about now except finding a nice apartment Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
