  1. I get approached by about 3-5 people a year asking for advice on becoming an Air Force pilot. I tell all of them that I can't in good faith recommend they go the active duty route. If they can't go guard/reserve, it's not worth going at all. I've been personally thanked by a few of them once they get to UPT and realize the bullet they dodged.

  2. I was taught to use the opposite hand with fingers closed and palm out to approximate the AIM method. For example if I was going to be entering a standard holding pattern, I'd hold my left hand to the HSI, with fingers closed and thumb at it's open position. If the reciprocal of the inbound leg is below the thumb line it's a direct entry, between the pointer and the thumb-teardrop, pointer around the horn to the thumb line-parallel. It's complicated to explain but easy to demonstrate when you hold it up to the HSI drawings you have linked. It'll get within the "conveniently aligned" WAG satisfying the 11-217.

  5. Also in the next edition... sorry to say the first version was designed by fighter dudes who very rarely do double AFTPs or multi-location TDYs. But we've had tremendous feedback across the guard and reserve and both of those functions, as well as RMPs, MAN and RPA days and Title 10 tracking will be out in v3.0 near thanksgiving. Thanks again for your feedback- let us know if theres anything else we can do better.

  7. I might have died laughing like a weasel in Who Framed Roger Rabbit while reading that letter.

  9. No need to get snippy. I'm merely pointing out that out of the 13 AD assignments, 4 were FAIPs and 2 RPAs. Certainly not as RPA heavy as years past, but still significant.

  10. Typical lib thinking. "If I get rid of any even potentially offensive capability the bad guys won't fear me and therefore leave me alone and the whole world will be peaceful land of rainbows and teddy bears. Oh, and then we can funnel all that money into social welfare programs." GMAFB!
