  1. Here's my anecdata from the last year in my current squadron: 4 evaluators and 9 instructors dropped their papers. There are plenty more lined up to follow them out the door as soon as ADSCs or enlistments are up. The 6 dudes in my Squadron going to MEBs are all pretty damn good as well, so that doesn't help. I've seen a handful of top notch dudes take the money, but for each one that does it seems like three punch and two break. I hope it's going better elsewhere.

  2. I love the "turns night into day" propaganda in the video...completely oversold. That said, there's a lot more to DAS than simply "you can see through the floor!" Champ nailed it on force composition. 4th gen assets are projected out to 2040+...the F-35 crowd will have the last laugh when all the Vipers and Eagles are 3g limited because they have 20K hours on the airframe. It won't be a problem though, since I'm sure the 6th gen acquisition process will go really well.

  3. I think by the time we see that, 5th gen will actually be "legacy".

  4. The only time I will even consider squeezing into the old uniform (it's been almost a decade since I retired) would be a military event in which I have a role. For example, I commissioned my nephew last year when he graduated from college. It was an extremely proud moment for me, and I made sure I could fit into my service dress for it. However, for anything else, I will wear the appropriate civilian attire. Plus, that way I don't have to shave! Cheers! M2

  5. Suit or Tux for me. I don't ever want to be "that" guy living in the past.

  6. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who said he saw something on the internet that he's making his staff stand at attention and recite the airman's Creed at the beginning and end of every day. And they are making him a five star general, and he's simultaneously going to be the wing and operations group commander at every base, all at once. Oh, and there must be seven teeth showing on every flight suit, especially on blues Thursdays which he's bring back. Un ing real. The air force is doomed.
