Yes, taking a pedestrian all the way up to being solo on your wing is very rewarding and a lot of fun, but the flip side of that RMO is when 2 days after track select your new class shows up and they don't know what initial is, how to start the plane, how to do a walk around.... That transition from training day 69 back to day 1 was always painful as an IP...

For one, the FTUs are at max capacity; we cannot train b-coursers fast enough to meet what the CAF needs; so, there's only as many F-Xs as the FTUs can support. Secondly, I don't know the makeup of this class, but it's fairly likely there were at least a couple dudes who shouldn't being flying fighters, CAF shortage or not. For that reason alone, it was a good move to give the non-fighter aircraft option to ENJJPT. As far as getting "good deal heavies" that T-1 dudes "fight for," I honestly don't know what the right answer is.

Give it 5 years and RPAs will be in vogue. Eventually the problem will resolve itself. It's not a bad gig, especially once the ops tempo issues get resolved. People are just trapped in their egos right now. The reality is computers can fly better. We are dinosaurs... it's just a matter of time. Just repeating what other guys I know who have been fighter, bomber, or RPA pilots who have also flown the tanker have told me. In all cases those individuals have said that those airframes are much more challenging than the tanker. If you don't like it then maybe you should talk to some individuals like that and ask yourself. Or better yet go strap one on and get some first hand knowledge. Might be something smart to do instead of getting emotional about skills required to do something or not. Your argument isn't grounded in anything but emotion. Having fun with assumptions yet jaded or are you ready to throw some more unfounded BS out?
