  1. Sad that someone who finished #2 in his class in UPT feels like he "misprioritized" during UPT due to a pt test failure. This is what the USAF focuses on folks. And then wonders why the good people leave.

  3. A referral OPR for a failed PT test? IIRC, a referral is mandatory if your OPR period closes out with a failed/expired PT test. Which means that even if you fail one, as long as you can make it up and pass before your report closes, you shouldn't get a referral. If CCs are giving referral reports for failures above and beyond that, well, that's some solid douchebaggery right there. General bit of free advice for folks that struggle with the PT test: adjust your testing schedule so that it DOESN'T coincide with your OPR close out. Shoot for the first or second month of your annual reporting period. Then your second test will fall in month 7 or 8. Should give you plenty of time to fix any failures prior to a report closing. Or just get to the gym more often, it's not that hard of a test.

  4. Your impression is not that far off based on what the staff expressed to us. The SAASS selection board looks at an applicant's ROP and ranks accordingly. Based on the initial ranking, the faculty will then review each applicant's writing sample to ensure there are no major red flags present. Assuming that the writing samples and board rankings cohere, the list should mirror the original list. There are some attempts to balance the class based off of AFSC. People tend to apply for the MDOS elective based off of the assumption that being in the program will help their chances. Realistically, the data do not seem to support that assumption. MDOS does expose one, however, to a small selection, and only superficially, of the works that will be read in SAASS.

  5. The continuation info on mypers for Captain's passed over for Major is all about Major's passed over for Lt Colonel. Why am I not surprised?

  6. Welch's policies had no teeth. "Any wing cc who uses a master's degree for strats is fired, and will submit their retirement paperwork." BAM. Problem solved. Stop trusting your mid level managers to do the right thing. They've proven that they are incapable of it.

  7. Some extra info for clarification Ragged: Big picture: if formal training is 20 weeks or more in duration, it resets your OPR date. If shorter than 20 weeks, OPR date does not change. So, you receive a training report (475) at the end of UPT which then marks the start of your evaluation period for an OPR. If your follow-on FTU is less than 20 weeks long, you still get a training report when you finish FTU but it does not reset your OPR date, and your OPR will close out a year after you received your UPT training report. Be prepared for the potential that you may have an OPR due a year after you graduated from UPT. Ensure you have a passing score on the books before then.

  8. I'm not sure how it will affect you while you are in training, it might affect your training report. Failing the test isn't good though. If you get the reputation of the guy that sucks at PT, it will definetly affect they way your leadership looks at you. You really need to knock the PT Test out of the water the next time around and not ever fail again. One of my buddies is a C-130 pilot at hurlburt and he failed his PT test, got a referral and was passed over for Maj.

  9. The guy interviewing is an asshole. Instead of educating folks who don't what it means, he's just condescending. There was at least one guy who was on the right track when he started talking about remembering those who died, and this jack hole leads him astray.

  11. I am doing something similar to this, OCONUS to CONUS with a TDY enroute. They don't get per diem while you are TDY. They should be on your orders due to the pcs w/ TDY enroute. As long as they are you can get a TLF and have it paid for. As for shipping your car, you should get the letter saying they will ship it to Seattle, which should be the closest port to Fairchild. From there when you drop off the car you can tell the VPC that you would like it shipped to Dallas, or where ever since Seattle is the farthest and going to cost the most. I did this and they had no problems with sending the car to Dallas. Now if you can send it early to have it waiting on you that would be best, due to the fact that you probably won't get any time off to go get it and rental cars ere aren't cheap for long term. As to the unaccompanied baggage. I hope that TMO will give your family the weight allowance. TMO at ETAR wouldn't due to they said they aren't on my TDY enroute orders, which they were. I ended up doing a small household goods shipment to the TDY locale with the stuff we needed due to the baby coming and that stuff wasn't allowed in the unaccompanied shipment. Plus my TDY is long enough where my stuff is in long term storage versus sitting at my pcs location then getting put into storage. Also if you are shipping alcohol then you will need all the paperwork, but you can't put it in your long term storage. Which helped out with me sending it to my TDY local with the small household goods shipment. You will get the BAH 2 rate till you check in to the new base to get that BAH rate. Hope this helps.

  12. A reasonable two-bedroom apartment with a parking spot in a good but not stellar part of the city. In some of the trendy spots, the box guy would still need a roommate to be that close to a hydrant.
