  1. So tired of the "you need to educate yourself" argument that seems to be all the rage these days. Run out of logic, just accuse your opponent of being a nitwit. Speaking of, the content between your parenthesis is missing a word or I am the nitwit cuz I have no idea what you are talking about regarding "officers being higher than". If you would like to bring something to the table, by all means, dispense your knowledge so that we may behold thine wisdom. In the mean-time, I'm going to read the opinions of those who can offer insight to this forum and have bqzip's mom make me another sammich.

  2. I could be wrong, but I think he's trying to say he has unrealistic expectations of the officer corps' ability to understand current events and consider unexpected outcomes. On the specific point of being surprised that the UK voted to exit the EU, I'm willing to bet that even David Cameron was taken aback. Polling the week prior indicated that ~75% of the public supported remaining in the EU. On the second point, I have no idea what he's trying to say. As written, he states that BREXIT will "[reflect] our election". So an event that just happened reflects one in the future? Maybe he meant our current election cycle and associated political noise influenced the voting public in the UK? If that's the case, I'd say that is indeed possible. Bottom line, if you're going to pass yourself off as enlightened, at least use proper grammar. Everybody knows that effective written communication is essential to being a credible pompous ass. BTW, that was a nice use of "Cheers!" at the end, it really cemented the overall douchiness of the post.

  3. Heard the same from my buddy who did it there. He passed but said it was the hardest flight of his life. He got everything through his commercial before he came into the AF so he's not just whining. They actually called me the other day to schedule me because I had inquired in the past. Any place proactively trying to fill ATP slots at this point must be bad. Glad I used Downtown.

  6. So a little extra money in the short term (estimated to cost the average Brit around 3000 pound sterling) is worth your right to control your borders, laws, economic policies i.e. the most basic elements of your national sovereignty? Good thing nobody fought like hell and sometimes gave their life for something like that... The EU like all Globalist dreams is fundamentally flawed as it ignores the damage done to the working & middle classes of the developed world while simultaneously depriving the developing world of its best and brightest that could turn their countries around.

  7. Freedom, courage and self-determination won... chalk up a win for the good guys, not surprised the British people rose up to the occasion...

  8. I've been thinking hard about this one. Every way I look at it, I don't see how having civilians cross in at the O6 or higher-level is going to translate to meaningful change for Cyber. I've got Cyber O6's that I know now agitating for meaningful changes: real mission assurance, real network advancements, etc. They can't get it done and they've been in the system the whole time! What's some civilian with no history, contacts and context going to bring? Dear Lord.. if he/she starts on staff without ever having supported an operational mission... the hate we get now will only be magnified because the leader only isn't in touch... they've NEVER been in touch. We aren't like civilian companies where we can dump one vendor for another. We're beholden to DISA for services. We're beholden to our MAJCOM/NAF for mission requirements. We're beholden to AFSPC/24AF for "cyber mission requirements." Finally we're beholden to the IMSC for... something. Couple the serious mission challenges to the promotion and "up-or-out" and you're going to demoralize the cyber force. We've already got enough problems with not having a career cyber person in cyber leadership. Now you're going to shift some of these few O6 slots to civilians coming in? How exactly am I supposed to believe there's any credibility at all with AF Cyber Leadership if this happens? It's already difficult enough as it is and I've been told very good things about the folks in charge. Finally I don't know many "cyber leadership" civilians who could do well on our PT systems. Hire civilians as non-line tech advisers, increase the industry internship opportunities, allow more sabbaticals, develop/promote Technical MS programs (AFIT doesn't count), provide mid-level (vs high-level) cyber leadership/operations training (less demanding CNODP/Cyber WIC) and get some damn career cyber leadership visible to the force. I will note none of these even start to address the problem with current GS-civilians who are retired O's and SNCO's who refuse to do anything meaningful to move Cyber into the current decade. For them the AF hasn't changed since the day it retired, and by God it'll be the same when they retire again in 10/20/30 years.

  9. That's like celebrating a secession of NY from the United States on account of Alabama and Mississippi's shortcomings. This will be disastrous for England, and quite possibly the beginning of the end for the U.K. I'd bet money that Scotland is independent by the end of the decade, quite possibly N Ireland as well. This is truly their Donald Trump moment.

  10. Wow, the level of ignorance here is staggering. Okay, many seem to know a little something about this, but some of you claiming to be totally surprised is unexpected (my expectations of officers being higher than is realistic). This will affect Americans, and will affect (or reflect) our election. Cheers
