  1. Just for the record, they were aileron rolls.

  2. Yes, they were passed over as well.

  3. Duck, In the past two years, our squadron has had 3 people attempt early separation by the same means you're asking about, twice passed over. One of them wrote his Do Not Promote letter to the board after his PRF was filled out, signed, and he had gotten a DP. He was not passed over, unsurprisingly. The other two made their intentions known to their leadership. One of them, after telling the Sq/CC about their plan to write a letter, met with the Wg/CC as well to argue for a P, and got it. That person's argument was somewhat compelling, much like yours sounds to be. They then wrote their own PRF and followed up with the exec to ensure it wasn't fixed "too strongly." The only push back here was that the Sq/CC argued that sending off a PRF that was "too weak" would reflect poorly on the squadron. So the PRF ended up being neither really weak nor the best it could be, but with the coveted P. The other person rolled the dice and only told the Sq/CC about the letter and hoped for the best regarding a P or DP. They also got a P, and were passed over. That person's PRF was weak to begin with though, due to making their intentions and motivations (or lack thereof) known years earlier, so the P followed from that. Not sure if this helps, but it's three more data points.

  4. Sorry, man. For what it's worth, it's an illustration of the problem I have with 10-year ADSCs, and anything longer the AF may consider. There is zero way to predict what life is going to deal you that far out. I see it as a bit of a moral imperative to provide some flexibility on the back half of it for that exact reason. A hard and fast six-month limit is lazy ass senior leadership not trusting lazy ass middle leadership to make an informed decision about balancing personal needs and the needs of the Air Force. Could be you're a slacker looking to shirk a commitment. I dunno. Not sure we've ever met. But your SQ/CC does know you, your story, and the state of your community's manning. If he/she supported it, well, consider yourself backed by a random poster on base ops. Good luck.

  5. Two Major's boards in one year....maybe all those VSPs/RIFs/etc weren't such a good idea, huh?

  6. You need 68 more hours to get to the magic number they are looking for.

  7. Turns out you can barrel roll an MC-12.

  8. Absolutely, but after 4 failed PC/Hardship and Misc separations... And leadership telling me I need to stop applying until I am about a year out, it puts me in this situation.

  9. Those were also the days without good targeting pods. If we use that example, it should be raining Preds and Reapers as they get shot from the sky

  10. I have never been able to understand the point of view from the 5th gen haters. Why hasn't China swallowed up Taiwan and the rest of the geography in its proximity? Because America. A super tucano or whatever "today's war" buzzword doesn't deliver the threat of overwhelming military power. Further, buzzword "today's war" cas platforms are not mutually exclusive with a parity nuclear arsenal and air superiority, but every time someone brings up the a-10 or our lack of whatever mosquito-like propeller driven light attack aircraft, the response (at least here) is overwhelmingly some sarcastic blurb about the f35 and it's lackluster gun. As a fighter pilot, I want a platform that the Russians will be apprehensive about sharing airspace with. As an American, I want better nukes than everybody else, and I want those prioritized over a light attack aircraft. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited to be less of an a$$hole

  11. I guess I'll be the contrarian and say leave it. This is really the only place for people to engage in discourse "anonymously", vs commenting on FB posts, and I think there is a lot of value in that. If you don't like it, don't go to that sub-forum.

  12. Shame on all of you for not asking for pictures first! Have you not learned anything since being here?

  13. I'm not one to defend big blue, but the number could get slightly better in FY17. If I were an early eligible right now and likely to take the bonus, I'd consider waiting to the new FY where the bonus is rumored to increase. Why sign for 9@25 when 9@35 is a few months away? The extra 10k wouldn't be enough to change my mind, but might as well hold out for it if I was going to stay anyway.

  14. F-15E 1. High, you'll be busy, whether you're at home or away 2. Reasonably stable, but busy. Expect 1-2 AEFs per assignment plus numerous exercises/TDYs 3. Pretty darn good 4. Around until at least 2035, good upgrades planned 5. Mountain Home, Lakenheath - amazing / Seymour Johnson - not so much We bring some capabilities no one else does, but we also have our limitations compared to the 5th gen guys. We're popular right now due to our load out, comms and long legs (for a fighter.) I suspect the reason you haven't heard a ton from the fighter guys is that if you aren't 100% sure this is for you, it probably isn't, as you'll quickly burn out. Deployments are fun, but the 12hr+ days for years on end at home will wear you out if you don't love it. If I have to talk you into a fighter, it isn't for you. That isn't meant to say that you can't make it, but that you may not want to. If you've always dreamed of flying fighters, you will have zero regrets and kick yourself when you look back for even thinking of another option.

  15. Actually capitalizing on a stable of T-38 trained bodies by allowing them IFF slots would open up all manner of worm cans, not the least of which would lead to minor slowing of the 11F tsunami. Take your common sense elsewhere.

  16. He probably had his Sq/CC, OG, Wing/CC, Command Chief and Jag review his tapes and reassign him to a desk job accordingly. But they probably noticed that he had all of his career containers checked off, so they promoted him.
