For F-cks sake, You fatty drivers are only reacting to TCAS anyway when anyone gets within 6.9nm so you can file your HATR and bust someone's balls. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums3 points

34-219 doesn't really say fuck all about it... https://static.e-publishing.af.mil/production/1/af_a1/publication/afi34-219/afi34-219.pdf 36-2903 only says you you can't wear bags or ACUs in any place that primarily sells alcohol for consumption on the premises. 31-207 states airmen "will not consume any form of alcohol or use over the counter drugs or prescription medications that could impair ability to handle a firearm while on duty, or within 8 hours before duty or firearms training." So drink up, gentlemen!2 points

I just want to point out that a lot of the guys saying "worth it" to "absolutely worth it" are older dudes career wise. I can say having been in almost 10 years that this place has changed and not for the better. Flying is awesome. The Air Force sucks. Sucks to the point where it over shadows the mission. Bro, I know like 5 guys staying in past their initial commitment and they are not really the guys I want leading... But I am afraid everyone else is going to be gone. This has only 1% due to the airlines hiring and 100% to do with the complete lack of focus and the pussyfooting risk-adverse management that think they are too good to fix what's wrong with Big Blue. Glad I experienced it, but I have had enough. Wouldn't do it again. Stick with Med school, push for guard job. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums1 point

I was accepted and passed on med school to go to UPT...broke my mom's heart in doing so. Looking back after 26 years, if I had it to do over again, you SNAPs would be calling me Dr CH...actually you wouldn't be calling me as I would ignoring all of you and concentrating on the boob job I was going to do in the morning.1 point

Had I known getting stuck in drones was an option, I would not have joined the Air Force.1 point

Flying fighters is the greatest job ever. Being in the USAF is the price you pay to do it. Once you figure out the game and play it accordingly, you can have a great life flying fighters. If you allow however, the USAF will take all the fun and pound you, your family, your morale and love for flying into the ground. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums1 point

I flew f-16s for 10 years. I'm off of active duty now, and even through rose covered glasses, I look back on my time like a prison sentence. It feels amazing to be "out." If you want to experience 85% of your life as a fighter pilot, go hang out at the DMV for 12 hours tomorrow.1 point

My opinion in a nutshell: NATO can't survive without us. The collapse of NATO would be a huge win for Putin. Brexit, while not directly related to NATO, has an impact on the mindset of other NATO members. Without NATO, Russia will rise to fill the ensuing Eastern Europe power vacuum. Britain and Germany would rise to balance and we'd be looking at early-to-mid 20th century Europe all over again. Except the calculus would be significantly different because of nukes. Realists have been saying NATO would collapse since 1989, and it hasn't - mostly because we stayed in. Leaving NATO right now would be a huge strategic mistake and I just don't see that happening. NATO has actually done some harm since the end of the Cold War. Without a substantial threat, our European allies have really let their military readiness go to hell all willingly and over reliant on the US. The problem is, they don't know it and we aren't calling them on it. Our allies are running around in their Eurofighters and Gripens thinking they are just barely below US capes but they are FAR below, and don't know it. I'm talking every level. They don't have tanker capacity, armament capacity and are reliant on the US in most ways past getting go #1 airborne. I didn't know this until I saw it firsthand how bad they are, across the board, from the way they train, organize and if you think the F-35 is a shitshow, you should see the Eurofighter.....a $100m jet with $40m in capes. It's really, really bad. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums1 point

I just completed mine at Downtown in the Duchess back in June. PM me and I'll send you the gouge if that's what you're flying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I have a good deal of gouge that's almost three years old, but if they're still flying the Duchess and Doc's still doing the checkrides I'm sure it's still mostly valid. Anybody who is interested can PM me with their email address and I'll forward it along.1 point

Not knowing anything about this situation, but all the IP's out there know how frustrating it is to give syllabus ride 2 after some chode IP in the sq pencil whips the first gradesheet, gives you nothing that the student has to work on, or just marks everything up to MIF by clicking "quick complete". However, as Capt Nobody in the AF, I'd be pretty disillusioned if my gp/cc told me that.1 point

Another article on the subject of NATO and our membership: https://nationalinterest.org/blog/the-skeptics/it-time-america-quit-nato-15615?page=2 The author leaves it at re-examination of whether or not the US should be in the alliance, also found this one on Foxtrot Alpha: https://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/u-s-allies-borrowing-munitions-to-drop-on-isis-as-u-s-1767362416 It may be a helluva change from the way things have been for the past 60+ years but putting our foot down maybe the only way to get some traction on change we say we want, the President was deriding this in an interview ("free riders"): https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2016/04/the-obama-doctrine/471525/ Consensus seems to be building for some change.1 point

Still nothing of substance. You're essentially just bashing someone on a difference of opinion. And your sq environment could absolutely be terrible without you knowing, if for instance you're the prick commander's pet and you just don't see it because your world is rainbows and unicorns.-1 points
