By the time this pilot is flying the viper, some Q3 in T6's will matter just as much as being caught for stealing the crayons in kindergarten. Enjoy your buff.3 points

You never flown an American fighter, at least in the front seat, try again.3 points

And earlier this year we were non-voling Buff pilots to the MQ-9. This organization is such a clownshow.3 points

Or you just went high aspect and want to win, because you know, you don't want to be a loser or dead2 points

Unless you're flying an f-16 and not a pussy. You can accelerate at 8-9Gs in a cleanish block 50. Don't be a pussy.2 points

Looks like quibbling to me. You are going to have a great time at pilot training...2 points

1. You have 2 posts, and one of them is complaining about neg rep on your first post. So... maybe contribute, be positive, and stay on topic? 2. Your interests give me a "tool" vibe, just my opinion. (you edited this, looks a little better now) 3. If you had creeped a little while on the forums before joining, you would know that the "what are my chances of getting a fighter drop" has already been asked 69 million times before, and is almost always answered with "there is really no way to estimate how many fighters will drop, so just work your ass off in UPT and be a good bro." 4. If you get that viper drop, you're going to be flying with the same type of guys that are busting your ass on the forums. I'm not one of them yet, and I don't act like it. They are a tight knit group, and honestly have helped me understand a great deal about the flight training process, and the AF in general. 5. I've been told to 'shut the hell up' here too. It's not personal, and you shouldn't take it that way. Seriously, this community is filled with a bunch of successful fighter pilots, and is a great resource for everything you need to know. This weekend, I'm going to meet a couple fighter wannabes just like me, and it's only because of these forums... So just consider yourself lucky to be interacting with everyone here. ANYWAY, sorry to have derailed the thread... Back on topic: I'm also interested to see the next round of T-1 drops. It seems to me like they're moving toward T-38 guys getting only fighters or an A-10, while the T-1's fight over the 11B slots. If they are trying to mitigate the 11F AND 11B shortage, this seems like a pretty good way of doing it.2 points

Harvey - I didn't realize you are an 11F. Disregard everything after hello, plan on vanilla ACSC, and expect a quick turn back to the jet afterward. Because of the staff overhead, RAS/PAS ain't gonna happen for 11Fs anytime soon. I might be one of the last for a while. Who knows if my "RAS payback" has been delayed or permanently cancelled. Time will tell, but I'm not complaining. I wasn't looking forward to staff anyway. For what it's worth, you don't really know how awesome it is to breathe air in a fighter squadron until you leave it for a while. Can't wait to go back. Although school has been relatively fun (and definitely NOT boring or a waste of time), the rest of the world just pales in comparison to working in the CAF. Shit talking another flyer by leaking private information on a public forum? Bold move for a first post, I'm sure it will impress everyone.1 point

You know I'm going to a squadron in Korea, right? I have never seen an actively flying pilot in Korea get fragged for that shit. Also, this educational tour is a short remote, so I re-hacked my STRD. Local leadership knows I speak Korean, so they're planning to leverage that. I doubt that's possible in any of the 'Stans. Suck it, AFPC. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums1 point

Good to hear. I used to mess with Crossfit a few years ago, but transitioned to Olympic lifting with a few competitions under my belt. Thanks! I'm stoked and grateful. Thanks, BeerMan. This derail makes for a good break from pubs.1 point

I dunno man, the F-16 HABFM 9G vertical down is as full-up 9G as it gets, and it takes no prisoners. AGSM and neck strength are pretty important. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums1 point

It sounds like you can definitely expect a staff tour on the back end. That should make for at least 3 years out of the jet, with no guarantee of return on your terms. If it's a match for your personal goals, go for it...especially if pol/mil stuff gives you a chub. If not, pass. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums1 point

Hey, the good news is if you have a Q3 for flight discipline as a T6 dude you get vipers now. So push it up! But we better send that 38 bro to the buff. There is no justice. Drink up.1 point

That is what the Bomber FAM hinted at (he is a good dude unlike the previous one). If you look on the AFPC website for bombers, there is a call out to any MWS who wants to go fly BUFFs to contact him and it seems if you got released on your end, you would go fly the BUFF no problem. I do feel bad for the new bomber studs that just graduated UPT out of 38s that are here and or headed this way since T-1 guys can now fill this billet. Seems like a waste of a potential resource since we are in such a bad fighter crisis and we are sending dudes who are fighter qual'd to a jet that can be flown by anyone, IMO.1 point

I thought you were going to say we don't want or need people with any mood/depression/anxiety/polar/mental issues because we already have too many in senior leadership. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums1 point

What in the fucking fuck? If you run two jets together your neck and back won't matter. Coming from the guy whose callsign involves being blind and no joy at the same time.1 point

That's assuming of course, the bullets don't go through your neck or back. Also, that the ejection doesn't hurt either.1 point

They laughed their asses off. Asses. wtf is wrong with you people ?1 point

Short bus preschoolers could have formulated a more legitimate poll. I don't set a high bar for sports page writers, but the guy who picked this up and wrote an article around it should really be forced to have his dick concussed by J.J. Watt. The poll provided options and asked respondents to answer "yes" or "no" to them. This type of poll is among the worst, and no survey looking to produce reliable, "scientific", results utilizes this tactic. Unfortunately people are dumb as shit, and it's equivalent to leading a witness. Exacerbating this is the fact that the poll did not ask respondents to indicate if THEY had curbed their viewership, and if so, what motivated THEM to do so. It asked every participant of the survey to speculate on what they BELIEVED was causing the drop, whether they had stopped watching or not. You would expect the results to skew towards a story that was discussed on every news and major sporting event broadcast in the month of September whether it had anything to do with it or not. If I had to guess, Colin Kaepernick's first start this season probably saw a massive ratings boost, not a decline. A small percentage of people who like what he's done would be more likely to tune in and hope to watch him succeed. A large minority would tune in to hopefully watch him fail in spectacular fashion, and a massive majority wouldn't modify their behavior either way. It's too bad also, because the way police in this country do their job (and are trained to do their job), deserves to have every player, coach, and fan in the stands on their knees in protest. But with every news broadcast and idiotic NFL protest player suggesting the atrocious policing is all a result of widespread institutional racism, the actual problem is going to persist unchecked for decades more.1 point

As a follow-up question: how feasible is it to go to AFIT as a pilot? I'm very interested in one of their masters programs, but it seems to me that getting an in-residence masters as a pilot would be difficult. Thank you!1 point

From what I've seen in my tour here, follow these steps and you'll be ok... even if you suck at flying. 1) Study your ass off 2) Work your ass off 3) Help your bros 4) Don't be a DOUCHEBAG1 point

You're right. I'm referring to day to day training. Most guys I know didn't get hurt going to the merge in combat. There's obviously more to the story here. Not saying shit can't happen but jets shouldn't almost hit eachother because one person was blind and no joy. OP, let me rephrase my advice. If you'd rather risk messing your neck up because you don't want to hurt your pride and you're worried about the mean things the guys might say that'll hurt your ego and feelings, go for it. If you think your life is on the line because jets are about to hit eachother or the other guy has live weapons, obviously you're going to do what you have to do.
