  1. 2 I had to say that which is painfully obvious to a Demo-drone who could not grasp the fact that money doesn't actually grow on trees. Every health insurance policy that is government supplied or subsidized is a wealth transference device to some degree, I am not even saying that as a pejorative but just as a simple fact that libs can't / won't admit. If that fact could come honestly into the public conversation (or what's left of it in the civic society wasteland) the other fact, that people who make less money will not have the same approximate lifestyle as someone who makes much more money, this even includes healthcare, regardless if it pisses libs off or not. If you make 30k per year you won't have the same healthcare as someone who makes 300k per year, if we try to totally even out society in this area (and others) because we are uncomfortable with disparities in lifestyle, we'll wreck the place. Ref: USSR, Venezuela, NK, Cuba, etc...

  2. It's easier to understand once you realize that A1 doesn't worry about combat capability. They have to produce "experienced" 11Fs that can fill their manning needs. If that means guys get ripped out of the cockpit the minute they're technically "experienced," so be it. A1 has bills to pay. So now you have a shortened B-course to increase RTU throughput, which means more dudes in MQT in CAF squadrons...which can be a burden to the CAF training programs. All this effort, then you gotta kick that young newly-minted 4FL out the door to go do something else and make room for the next round of LTs. No worries here, everyone. As you can clearly see, all the slides have green stop light charts. Press! Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

  3. Dude, come on... That doesn't pass the bullshit litmus test. The politicians say, "Oh how wonderful, Obamacare gave healthcare to an additional 20M people that couldn't afford it!" How?! We're always talking about how healthcare workers are overworked and underpaid, resulting in less people joining the healthcare field which just exacerbates the issue... Did I miss something or did Obama literally pull a bunch of qualified healthcare workers that don't require sleep out of his ass? If you live in the US and the phrase "government mandated healthcare" doesn't scare you, you've probably said the phrase "feel the Bern!" about a million times in the past year and/or cried on national television with a piece of duct tape covering your mouth that reads "silenced by the DNC"

  4. Right. First off, they're expanding Medicaid, not Medicare. Medicare is for old folks. Medicaid is for poor people. However, I digress. You do realize that the states bear a significant burden by expanding it, right? I can't tell you how many times I heard Democratic lawmakers in my state say "but it's free money". Bullshit, there's no such thing. The Federal Government pays 100% of the expansion for the first year and then it tapers off, putting significant costs on the state in the long run. Kentucky and Ohio are great examples, the poor bastards agreed to do it and budgeted the costs out to 2022. Then, miraculously their costs more than doubled. Illinois? Their Medicaid costs are now four times the original predictions. It's classic bait and switch, a year of costs covered for a lifetime of debts. In my state, thank God we had the sense to say "fvck off" and put that money in a rainy day fund. After the hurricane this year, that wisdom saved lives and homes. Literally.

  7. I attended Mr Hoover's Memorial at Van Nuys airport yesterday. It was an epic event, attended by much of the aviation illuminati. Very well done. Many speakers, but they all limited their time on the mic to about 2-3 minutes. I was particularly impressed by the flyover: 1st pass was a Sabreliner with two Thunderbirds on each wing, and a Canadian Snowbird in the slot. They were tight. 2nd was F-22 with two F-86s on the wing. 3rd was a four-ship of WWII warbirds, including Ole Yeller. I was proud of the AF for making it happen. Sometimes, they get it right and this was one of those times. Brig Gen Jeannie Leavitt was there to represent. I was surprised I saw no Navy presence. It was a tremendous sendoff to a great man.

  9. Ahhh, okay. That sounds like a good idea. Until 5 years from now when these 10,000 fighter guys have to go fly C-17's and tankers.

  10. What's really driving this? There's a lot of room at Hill and the airspace/ranges are a plenty (UTTR) and are they moving all the other things you need for an FTU (sims, academics, etc.) or is it a split plan with studs going to Luke first then to Holloman for flight training? Why not just stand up a training program at a Guard / Reserve base(s) for 3 years, surge production as required and not do something that will likely make the 11F problem even worse by probably encouraging the 7-day opt? A spasmodic flinch when a strategic punch was needed...

  11. The version of AFI 36-2107 on e-publishing is from April of 2012. It still has note 1b that says AFT commitments won't extend beyond 10 years rated service. If anyone else has seen anything in writing that is newer, please share it. https://static.e-publishing.af.mil/production/1/af_a1/publication/afi36-2107/afi36-2107.pdf Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. Gotcha thanks. Didn't know it was started by the MAF.

  14. This whole thing was a MAF driven tasker to gauge interest. It hadn't been approved by anyone of any importance. The earliest they were projecting, if it even happens, would be 2017. In the meantime they are flooding the FTUs with brand new 2Lts who have a 10 year prison sentence with no possibility of parole. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

  15. Looks like I'm going to be out of the CAF (Viper) after my next assignment. Going to have to go to white jets to make room for all of these viper babies. In addition..the CAF sends my buddy-only 2 years in the viper-to white jets to make room for newbies (while he was still an inexperienced 4-FL). makes no sense...

  20. RIP Mr. Hoover My old boss was good friends with Mr. Hoover (as well as being one of his trusted mechanics). On several occasions at KTOA, I was privileged enough to pump 100LL into Ole Yeller. This might seem insignificant to some folks, but it was a huge deal to us that knew about his accomplishments. Edited to add: We "raced" our fuel trucks to Ole Yeller in order to pump gas for him. That's how big of a deal it was.

  22. Not knowing anything about this situation, but all the IP's out there know how frustrating it is to give syllabus ride 2 after some chode IP in the sq pencil whips the first gradesheet, gives you nothing that the student has to work on, or just marks everything up to MIF by clicking "quick complete". However, as Capt Nobody in the AF, I'd be pretty disillusioned if my gp/cc told me that.

  23. In fairness that is most likely due to the republican state leadership refusing to expand Medicare and trying and obstruct the ACA at every juncture. Other states like Washington have seen rates decrease.

  24. does anyone know how many extra weeks are added typically due to weather at Vance? Also how long is it between drop night and the RNLTD to your first base? I know these numbers will vary I am just trying to estimate how long I will be at Vance.
