  2. “Morale has always been an issue at NSA, with roughly 20 percent of the workforce doing 80 percent of the actual work,” a former official told CyberScoop on the condition of anonymity. “NSA is a place where people retire in place. At some point watching this behavior even for motivated people becomes highly demotivating.” Describes most government entities I've worked with......

  3. Compunction-another one of those 5 dollar words. Fortunately, there are lots of lobbyists and congressmen (not to mention well paid Boeing employees) that will work within the law to keep that gravy train rolling. My take on this whole election- unless you're celebrating Mattis as secdef, a republican lock on SCOTUS for a generation, an AG who will crack down on hippies who stop traffic or liberal anxiety in general, the rest will be more of the same. I won't be able to buy a machine gun, Mexicans and Muslims will be just fine, Boeing will build a new AF1 and the protection of title 10 orders will remain. Everybody calm the fvck down. 6. @Weber5416 @bb17 @WVU11 @black hills tj @FalconAg @Mshaw628 @12xu2a3x3 @Fly4five I talked to a friend of mine who graduated in September. Some advice is in the OTS-Prep document, and things we need to know/have memorized are in the OTS Study document. See y'all in January. OTS-Prep.docx OTS Study.docx

  7. Does anyone have a succinct reference (AFI or otherwise) of what the legal commitment is to your ANG unit? I know we have a legal requirement to attend drill and if you don't show up, the sheriff can pick you up and physically make you attend drill. How about if you come to drill but make no other efforts to stay current? What are the repercussions of that? How does the UPT commitment figure into all of this?

  10. Honestly, that might be enough to keep a grin on my face for the next 8 years. As for the rest of you nerds, I'm not impressed by your sesquipedalian prose.

  11. I agree that a most things will stay the same. Lots of things are said in a campaign that have no chance of happening precisely because we do have robust checks and balances in the government. No mass deportations and I'm not a contracting officer so I can't say what is or isn't allowed in the AF1 case etc. But I still see some traditional boundaries tested by a very non traditional president. But point taken so now a little juvenile humor instead of big words.

  12. And you really think there are mass number of people willing to risk everything (including post USAF employment with the Airlines), to take such a drastic stand...no way. The government is REALLY good at writing one-sided contracts, then re-writing them when someone finds a loop hole. This situation is a giant zit that should have been dealt with in the early 2000's but 9/11 as horrible as it was, saved the USAF. The reality is things will get worse before they get better. It appears the Senate is not convinced the crisis is real or like some of the ignoramus senior leaders we've had the past few years, they think patriotism will somehow take over and we will magically meet our retention rates. My opinion only, I believe they will be forced to use STOPLOSS or some similar measure much SOONER rather than later but as everyone here recognizes, that is not a long-term solution and will likely make things worse. Unless there is a major new conflict, this goose is cooked and it will be served. As this situation continues to unfold like a slow motion train wreck, I am actually more concerned about the second and third order effects. The warning signs are there when you see policy letters that effectively water down RTU training and encourage maximum throughput. Watch the accident rates, watch the combat results, and watch the next group of leader who rise.

  15. I'd be really interested to hear why leadership in the AF is against a non-leadership type track... I also think the mentality that a non-leadership track would be capped at O-5 is a stretch. There are people in the AF that try to do everything they can to be on a leadership path... Yet they end their career as an O-5. IMO (and I'm sure more than one person on this forum will hate this idea) a person that volunteers to take themselves off of a leadership path should probably be capped at O-4... I just wish that this type of thing didn't feel like a far off pipe dream... The force would def benefit from keeping a better knowledge base and experience in the squadron... 16. AFRC 3 star just sent out an email updated (correcting) the email I mentioned yesterday that went out last week to all the OG/CC's. Supposedly the 30% SSR + locality special pay table has been approved by AFRC and is at the OPM level. Bonus is a possibility. The two above will supposedly happen FY17...longer term below: The FERs retirement multiplier will supposedly go from 1% to 1.7%. Would require legislative change but the email mentioned the idea of ARTs gaining access to TRICARE Select.. I'll believe it when it's actually in my LES but the steps above MIGHT prevent a couple dudes from switching....another guy got the call from Delta today...
