  3. According to his Nat'l Guard GO bio: He entered service in 1979, so he is waaaay beyond the 35 year total military service law (unless waived by Congress as in Rickover); probably his Guard time played with that calculation. The TAG of the DC Guard, unlike states' Guard which are appointed by the respective governor, is appointed by the President of the United States who is currently, and was when this order was given, Barack H. Obama. The MG is also 65, again a mandatory military retirement age unless waived by Congressional action. Nope, it's Trump's fault. We're gonna see a lot of that, I reckon. There was a good column (forget the venue and writer) on how everything for the past eight years was Bush's fault, and from here on out everything is Trump's fault. It's as though the last Administration didn't exist. Sure must be nice...

  5. Hmmm, Trump isn't in office yet and his SecDef isn't either yet he gets blamed for an action taken recently under the current Administration. THAT, my friends, is power.

  6. If $3.50 OCONUS incidentals is not on your orders before you leave for the TDY...then you get regular incidentals. Meals are provided except for any duty-related missed meals. Travel days are full per diem. If you are chopped to AFCENT, then then $3.50 applies since it is on the CED orders. Once in CENTCOM, you only get $3.50 a day even on travel days except travel in and out of the AOR. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

  7. Had this happen to me and a bunch of other dudes in the past. We highlighted the problem to finance and they ended up adjusting the per diem for that base, but since the regs stated full per diem for that base on the dates we were there, that's what we received. We were all very pleasantly surprised, so chalk up one win against the system in the sea of getting screwed most of the time. Good advice though to not spend that money until an extremely final decision is made that it's rightfully yours.

  8. For other 401(k) type plans, employer contributions are not part of the cap, i.e. 18k is a cap on what YOU can contribute, not on the total amount of contributions. TSP works this way now for Fed civilians who receive matching funds and AFAIK it will continue working this way under the new mil blended retirement system.

  9. 1) I should be surprised, but I am not. Maybe one less appearance on Foxnews will give you time to go back and look. 2) Don't act like a Martyr, you are a representative of the people who came here ASKING for issues.

  10. Here's a WaPo link. Very... interesting decision. But I guess I shouldn't be shocked at anything with the incoming admin.
