Two words...strategic messaging (IMHO) Killing assholes in Hilux's could have been more cheaply and easily done with EUCOM assets, but wouldn't have caused Russia and China to look up from their desks. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums2 points

And if anyone doubted the "pay for play" status of the Clinton Foundation: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/jan/16/clinton-global-initiative-lays-off-22-as-donations/ Color me surprised...2 points

Interesting take on Obama's personality and world-view. It isn't entirely a fit for this topic, but It deals a bit with the Syria debacle. Obama and the Limits of 'Fact-based' Foreign Policy https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2017/01/obama-foreign-policy/513380/ In short, despite reading tons of philosophy in college and reflecting on his views through opposing ones...he can't comprehend that anyone would have a view that doesn't fit his mold.2 points

Your degree and GPA are probably fine. Theology sounds like a pretty unique degree as far as pilot applicants are concerned. Your AFOQT and PCSM scores are really low. I think the average on the board I was hired on was over 90 for PCSM and 80's and 90's on AFOQT scores, and it was a fairly lenient board in my opinion, due to low number of applicants - and this was pretty recent. Everyone had a PPL too I think. My recommendation - study up and take those tests again and work towards getting a PPL. Although if you're applying to the February board I guess you're kind of stuck with what you have at the moment. See if you get picked up, and if not, work on scores and PPL.1 point

I think continuation is inevitable if you are a pilot. I know guys with negative indicators who were all continued on the last 2 boards Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums1 point

One of our young guys was all set to do a similar program - going to PCS to Kadena for a 3 year tour as a ANG guy. Sounds great right? B) False We got the details and turns out you have to leave the ANG, get into the AD. You have no rights to your ANG job after your tour, you could get stop loss, you are in the bucket with everyone else (and likely under the hammer from your new boss) for non-flying 365's, etc. It sounded a whole lot like GFY...1 point

Thanks for all the replies. How early would be too early to start talking to units? I haven't made any decisions yet since I'm still a lil' under three years away from my EAS, but I know the selection process can take a pretty long time. I'd like to make myself friendly, but at the same time I don't want to burn any bridges or appear indecisive. I've looked over the gouge out there on the "Gold to Silver Wings" transition about putting a package together. Would you all suggest I have something to submit when I make contact or would a phone call and/ or email suffice?1 point

They're called RAFSOBs. Regular Air Force s o b. And you can smell a RAFSOB a mile away by his proficiency at MICT and his zipper up to his neck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

A guy I know faced the standard ADSC shennanigans from AFPC for AFT a year or so ago and decided to just fill out his own ADSC form (FM 63 or whatever it is) and put "00 (zero) years" in the commitment duration spot and then put the verbiage about referencing note 1b right next to it. He signed it and sent it off and said it worked like a charm. A bit like a guy I read about who put down a 0% APR on his credit card application and had it approved. I thought it was a pretty crafty way to limit the headache of fighting with AFPC down the road. It sounded like AFPC primarily cares about having a signed copy of that form to complete whatever "checklist" they have and the folks doing it obviously dont QC what is on the form versus what should be on the form. I'll buy a case of beer for anyone that puts down "e^i*pi + 1".1 point

I believe mine contained the phrase "this is at best gross incompetence and at worse willful deception"1 point

Here's what I wrote to AFPC to get them to un-fvck their shenanigans. To save future bros like me the time, please feel free to copy/paste: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ALCON -I received this message in error. My pending flying training is a requalification course in the F-XX. Per AFI36-2107, Table 1.1, Item #16 (Advanced Flying Training), note 1 applies.According to note 1b: "All manned or unmanned pilots, navigators, and air battle managers who began aviation service after30 September 1997 will not incur any additional Advanced Flying Training (AFT)/InstructorQualification ADSCs which extend beyond 6 or 10 years as applicable, of continuous or cumulative ratedservice. Rated service begins at the completion of training and awarding of wings for the rated specialty. They will still incur Permanent Change of Station (PCS), Professional Military Education (PME), andother non-AFT related ADSCs."Note C countermands Note B in the event that basic qualification is attained through AFT. However, because was previously qualified in the F-16, my AFT course is requalification training (not basic qualification training). Thus, Note C does not apply in my case.Because I have completed my 10 year ADSC pursuant to my completion of UPT, further assignment of ADSC for AFT would be in direct conflict with the AFI as quoted above.I understand that my PCS involves an ADSC (which I accept), but I refuse the AFT ADSC proposed in this case because it would violate the AFI. NOTE: THIS IS NOT A NOTICE OF REFUSAL OF TRAINING. Thank you for your assistance with this matter.V/R,Maj Xxxxxxxxxxxx ------------------------------------------------------------------------------1 point

I just can't imagine I'd ever have a personnelist point out a pilot error on my part, and all I'll I'd say is: "You are correct, I chose to pump #3 (sts) when I should have banzai-ed. Have a great Air Force day!" I mean, maybe I'd say that. Then I'd rip off my wings and self-immolate in front of the squadron patch. Like this: I don't feel like AFPC shares my sentiment. I can't tell if this is ignorance or arrogance. I'll err on the former and say that waiting for someone to pick you up means you have less than a .069% chance of that actually happening. Be proactive about calling units and talking to actual pilots in the squadrons. Find out if/when their next hiring board is going to be and do everything you can to either visit or on a drill or sometime during the week. At least on the Guard side of the house, we are hiring a bro for the next 10-20 years, therefore we want to know if you are a good dude or someone who will cause issues in the squadron. As a side note to that last statement, you are also interviewing the units you are rushing. If you don't mesh well with a group of dudes, why would you want to go work with them for the next 10-20 years? You said in your previous post that you've done some research but the Guard website is outdated. Noted. Find another avenue to get the info you desire (i.e. being proactive and calling up the units {sts}) Our Sq/CC gets a call, email, or application in the mail at least once a week. He will always answer questions about upcoming boards. I imagine most of the other Sq/CC's or DO's would be apt to provide that info free of charge as well.1 point
