  1. You honestly believe that it matters who sits in the official seats? News flash those are the people that can get through the Congressional hearings without expending a mountain of political capitol. The POTUS has had and will always have the unofficial advisors (Bannons, Jarrets etc) that will guide policy probably more so than anyone with a Cabinet Title. (See Presidential Kitchen Cabinets or FDRs Brain Trust).

  2. Are you getting out regardless of how the deployment shakes out? If so, why not immediately establish a DOS now?

  3. Thanks for the advice everyone. If I may ask, I have done a lot of searches on google for guidelines that can be used to write OTS/ANG specific letters of recommendation. From what I can tell, the format is as follows: Paragraph 1: Establish credentials of author, establish purpose of this letter. Paragraph 2: Describe the character/qualities of the applicant. Give specifics. Paragraph 3: Tie it all together. Speak about how the qualities in paragraph 2 mean that the applicant is exceptional. These are just guidelines I have found online. I am tempted to follow them, but I don't want to come off as sounding to scripted either. Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

  4. I was a nav in the RC-135 for 6 years, and I don't think there was really a difference in QOL or deployment rotations between nav/EWO, or if there was then it was better for the navs because we never complained about it! Honestly the two jobs are very different so you should base your decision on which part of UCT you liked best: the instruments and navigation or the beeps and squeaks. Also, you need to consider how much you like Star Trek, and if you're willing to talk to the 2 other EWOs about it for 12 hours at a time.

  5. Somewhere in the cobwebs of officer school I remember learning that military action was an end to political means.

  6. The point is Obama is no longer president. The election is over and Hillary is back to giving speeches, probably at exorbitant rates. Yet Republicans Democrats continue to lash out at everyone who is against them. For fvcks sake, the POTUS Democrats think the only way he they could've possibly lost the popular electoral college vote is because the largest voter fraud influence conspiracy in the history of the U.S. has taken place. It seems the only coherent conservative liberal strategy these days is to be against whatever liberals conservatives are for. That is pathetic. This used to be a party run by statesmen with real, achievable policy goals, and the intention of constructively governing. Now it's put suffering the backlash of a departing president in power who'd rather listen to Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly give Iran ransom money, free terrorists, and offer would-be ISIS fighters jobs than listen to his daily intelligence brief. Just step back and think about that for a minute. The man would rather be consumed by outlandish conspiracy theories giving our enemies billions of dollars, freedom, and jobs than deal with the real day to day crises that regularly come up fact that bad guys aren't going to stop burning people alive if we let them serve us lattes. And the most outlandish conspiracy theorist political failures of them all now sit at the head of the NSC on the sidelines ready to curse the Russians everytime Trump makes a move. Quit whining, about Obama. His Your term is up. Forget Hillary. She lost. Trump won and we should all be watching him like hawks. It may not be is not the end of times, but if you are not at least slightly disturbed by willing to give a man with Trump's disposition and character a chance in the White House, then you are looking in the wrong direction just asking to be miserable for the next 4-8 years, regardless of whether it turns out to be the best 4/8 years in the history of the US, or the worst. Neither one of these paragraphs is accurate. You're too polarized if you think Republicans are the only ones to blame for Trump winning. Yeah, yeah.. Republicans are evil fascists and Democrats are the epitome of good will and love. I should check my straight white male privilege and all that other good stuff..

  7. I believe mine contained the phrase "this is at best gross incompetence and at worse willful deception"

  8. Because it is impossible to clear for friggin T-38s. I get it "hurt durr fighter pilot" but the T-38 is not a fighter. It's a trainer flown by students who have no idea where they are, where they're going or what they're doing. When you congest the airspace with dozens of students in similar states of mental dysfunction it would be nice to at least be able to SEE the other airplanes.
