If you want us to follow their playbook, then clearly you must be suggesting we invest in huge numbers of modern, mobile double-digit type SAM systems that we can overlap into a giant super mez to protect our forces. Does that mean we have to begin any future conflict with a massive land invasion to take all the ground we'll need to set up our SAMs on their dirt so we can execute IAW their playbook? Innovative idea. We'll also have to secure large numbers of their airfields to operate our hoards of non-5th gen fighters IAW their playbook. What a lot of people -- apparently yourself included -- are missing is that the letter was "fighter standard" straight-talk, despite what Killer's public response to it was. As a fellow Strike Eagle dude when this all went down, I can tell you that 99% of the bro network thought Toro's reply was right-on, because that's how we talk to each other and how we keep each other on the straight-and-narrow when we stray outside what is acceptable behavior. So, it is no surprise to me that Toro made O-5, and had a fine career afterward, because he's a damn good officer, aviator, and instructor, and the vast majority of his peers and leaders knew that, too...as well as not thinking the email was some wildly-offensive douchey move.

Today, there's some cadet, sitting in his academy dorm room decorated to look like his mothers basement who's only wish is to be a space geek. With his thick glasses perched on his pale nose, he is going to hammer out a letter on his Doritos stained keyboard to Captain Sandecker telling him that, as a cadet, he is ready to sit in and be a satellite jockey. He was a member of the rocket club, has his HAM radio license, and is well versed in all things Dungeons and Dragons. Captain Sandecker, reflecting on the reply from one each Mr. Toro, will answer this young, ambitious basement dweller that the Satellite Operations facility is no place for an amateur, radio operator or otherwise, hazards like hot coffee or tipping over vending machines abound. Discussions of Kirk vs Picard would probably not be understood by just a cadet. Staring at computer screens is for professionals so stop calling, texting, #leaveusthefuckalone. So, the dreams of a lowly cadet get crushed because of a prior Toro Fox 2 to the face (nice shot!) of an earlier wannabe.

I know an 11F who is going to full time position, but had non-concur from WG/CC. Unknown on AFPC. He asked for 6 mo off and got countered with 4. Where I asked for 6 and got it, only difference I can tell is mine had all concurs. Maybe SAF does really care about concur status on your app?

Just realize you might be MORE than excited after a dozen deployments, a year of school and two years of staff that you'd do anything to get back to that...literally anything. I met Kenny on my last deployment, great worker, great family man.. and just good guy to talk with about life. He rocked that deployment, I've never seen an aircrew get recruited into an intel analyst squadron either.. dude was a pretty smart guy that got along with everyone. Miss you man.

Lesson (not) learned is that you don't let a kid (the Marines) sit at the grown up's table when making important DOD-wide acquisitions, or if you do, you don't allow them to have disproportionate influence on the outcome.

I hate to be that guy, but this process is ridiculous. Just post a link to a Google docs spreadsheet or document and update as needed. Eliminates the need for dudes to PM you. Open source the useful info and call it a day.

I call BS on the entire premise of this thread. This is not OPSEC or mission stuff we are talking here....it political opinion and sometimes personal opinion. This is an internet forum where no one knows who you are. If we are going to start policiing what we can and can't say on here based on "what looks good for the military" or "a reg says you can't say that", there are LOTS of thread and posts that need to be removed.
