Actually changed my mind. I’m shooting for a school slot and directly into leadership, thinking maybe I’ll start as a DO, but definitely BTZ to O-6 (to catch up with my peers). I realized they never deploy, never do anything worthwhile and mostly spend their days forwarding emails. They also get to pretend to care about people and come up with cool catch phrases like “mission first! People? Yeah we got those too”. I’m “all in” now. Just picked up another strat for my O-5 board and if I play my cards right I should be able to be the Wing Exec after the last ass kisser moves on to ACSC. All in all, things are looking up for the Duck-nasty.3 points

I just need to confirm, Robber - "It's fake." (the gun) Bad Ass - "Oh well, mines is real." Robber - "I'm shot." Bad Ass - "Oh, fuck ya." He then admonishes them not to die. This is also my new fav video of all time.2 points

And there's the problem, people think sniper/litening pods are good for CDE scans. Real big picture sure, but FAR from the fidelity/accuracy of scans accomplished by the guys who actually are meant/built for such a thing. A buff should never be doing those scans, and its overselling capability to say to the Army a sniper/litening can effectively accomplish scans (especially to the level the army wants/expects). Again, we need to tell the Army to fuck off and play each asset to what it's for, not try to make everything persistent ISR...those assets already exist.2 points

I know the Bone's radar is far and away better than ours and fulfills much the same function as this would, but I wish they'd hang a Dragon Eye pod on the left pylon, keep Sniper/Litening on the right and give us another MFCD so we could dual wield sensors.2 points

Granted, however most of the time is spent getting out of the AF. My last board went through the Office of the SecDef in like 10 days, but spent 3 months in AF circles.1 point

Because the process must still follow the law which means Congressional review and all the other things.1 point

Allow me to summarize: MC-12 dudes= disenfranchised, type rated, mostly ATP holding, bitter dudes (and chicks), mostly T-38 trained, with an assignment left. More than 1,000 hours per down range, in a stack, doing stuff. UPT Grads= lots of time left to pay it back, good at making corn, can station keep for the most part. Air Force= Short on people, experience, good deals. UPT= At max blast, still can't fix the leak. 11F= Super short on folks, but somehow still too cool for school. OA/X= Investors? Possibly you! Take the author literally, yea that doesn't make sense. Got it, copy. Over. Fusion, synergy, sygma 6, buzzword. Mix it all up, doesn't sound too far fetched. Take your initial cadre of 11F'ers, throw in a bunch of your pissed off, MC-12'ers as the first classes (add a few UPT grads for good measure), who are itching to get back in the game, give them a program to make their own, give them the all holy "buy in". Guess what the Air Force gets? They don't take a bunch of 11F's out of the game. They possibly retain a bunch of experience in the mcdozen dudes that are definitely gone otherwise, UPT keeps sending people to the pipelines, who loses out? The 11R pipeline? Who's overmanned? Ok. Whatever. (insert conclusion here) Also: Handle of Bulleit Bourbon or Rye at Costco $31, 750 of Noah's Mill $44. edit: A ton of these people are T-6 and T-38 IP/EPs time meow. It really isn't that crazy.1 point

And recognize the realities of war.. plenty of unavoidable CDE to win Mosul and Raqqah. Funny how rolling back ISIS accelerated when we focused more on tactics to kill people vs how to not kill people.1 point

I think the bigger difference is in how we employ. Reaper is a precision/surgical/assisination strike tool, we have reallly gotten away from doing traditional CAS, which is what the light attack would be doing. I will be the first to admit, I would probably need some extra rides, I’m by no means arguing that you can take someone from a ISR/ GCS platform, give them a quick T-6 refresher and call them a expert in the A-29/AT-6/whatever. The drone is very misunderstood plane, and it draws hate easily, hell I still do hate it, but I caution against assuming it’s a walk in the park. There are some very complex environments and situations you find yourself in if you aren’t the shitbag doing transits (or forced there because you suck) and not having a window forces you to develop a lot of your senses and tools to build a solid battlefield picture. It really does help build your aviation skill set overall when you return to normal flying. Again, not trying to argue that a RPA bubba is equivalent to a 4 ship A-10 lead, but I caution people to being closed minded, I was before I went to them and have be surprised. I went to CBM, and was a UPT D, maybe in your cases they grabbed the bottom of the barrel, But I can print you my training reports, and vouch for several other bros from CBM and the other bases that dudes were getting snagged from the middle and top ish portion of their classes.1 point

Saw "12 Strong" last night and thought it was OK. Over-the-top acting by Hemsworth, William Fichtner and Rob Riggle gives the film a poor start. Michael Pena is good, but it's Michael Shannon as the CWO that gives the movie any semblance of authenticity and realism. Best parts were the team's initial embed with N. Alliance, interactions with CIA bubba already established in-country, and the visual look of Afghanistan (thank you, New Mexico). The story lacks the excitement and concern for these dozen guys caught in a tough spot and isolated that I think Lone Survivor and American Sniper capture much better in their big-screen projects. AF and ground-pounders will be disappointed in the depiction of B-52 close air support...yeah, there's some "danger close" terminology but the overall process seems way too dumbed down for civilian consumption. Lastly, the real stars are the four-legged variety and this aspect is hardly covered once the team mounts up and moves out...which is too bad, because I think the horse soldier revelation was one of the most surprising stories coming out in the weeks following 9/11 and our initial boots on the ground in Afghanistan.1 point

Honestly CAF/AFGSC assets should generally stick to sniper-like pods. Of course we should continue to improve capes, but keep in mind the mission of said assets. We are not here to read license plates or PID douche69 in a bazaar, there are many assets who are meant for that/good at it. We need a TGP to PID larger targets, self target weapons, get BHA, etc. The Army trying to use every AF asset as if it has a MTS-B has been nothing short of idiocy/FWA.1 point

This is the same shit that brought us the Black lives matter nothing burger. Try to tell a liberal that blacks in America are committing a hugely disproportionate amount of violent crime, a completely irrefutable fact, and they call you a racist. But in the same breath they scream that we "have to" have a conversation about racist policing in America. Now we "have to" have a conversation about immigration, but call a country a shithole, when that country is by any reasonable analysis exactly that, boom, out comes the racist card. If you dingleberries keep using language restriction and faux outrage to shame people into your way of thinking, Donald is going to tap dance right into another term. Maybe when someone tells you they aren't racist, turn off your inner Maddow and try to figure out what other reasons they have for disagreeing with you.1 point

This is a publicity stunt, not a real run for office. Senator Ben Cardin, the 2-term incumbent of that seat, has literally 50 years of electoral success in Maryland and has never lost a race. Not worth even mentioning other than she is a terrible person and an attention-seeking douche. My prediction is Cardin wins the primary with basically no effort by 50+ points. Lucky for me, when my party has lunatics run for office they are typically defeated handily in primaries by distinguished public servants. Can’t quite say the same for my friends on the right...Senator Doug Jones sends his regards to the GOP primary voters of Alabama-1 points

Instead of focusing on "shithole", focus on the "why". "Why do we want all these people from shithole countries coming here?" "We should have more people from places like Norway here" As if the nation of your birthplace determines your capabilities and your worth. The implication of his statement is those that come from a nation with a bad economy, or a horrible government are not worth letting in, but those from a Northern European nation are good to go with no needed justification. Why does someone from a poor Caribbean nation have to give more of a justification as to why they want to be an American than someone from Norway? Maybe that comment isn't about race (though it's an odd coincidence he specifically picked out nations whose populations are black/brown as undesirable nations, and specifically named a nation whose population is 97.3% Caucasian as an ideal immigrant). Maybe that comment was more about those coming from poverty. Taking that one statement doesn't necessarily paint the President as a racist. Taking his past statements and actions, then we can start forming a picture of who he is an what his ideals in regards to race are. 1- His real estate company avoided renting to black people and gave preferential treatment to whites in the 70's. 2- His statement on black employees in his casino: "Black guys counting my money! I hate it.... I think the guy is lazy. And it's probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks." 3- The Central Park 5. He was still arguing in 2016 they were guilty despite DNA evidence proving their innocence 10 years before. 4- Mexicans coming into the U.S. are "rapists". But some, he assumes, are good people. (nice backtrack) 5- The judge in the Trump University case couldn't be impartial because he is "of Mexican heritage". 6- 15,000 recent Haitian immigrants "all have AIDS" 7- The 40,000 Nigerians "would never go back to their huts" in Africa after seeing the U.S. 8- His quickness to highlight crimes by those of color, while remaining silent on hate crimes committed by whites. 9- Puerto Ricans, who have criticized the hurricane response, are "ingrates". 10- He has often retweeted white supremacists. 11- But that doesn't matter, because amongst white supremacists are some "very fine people" 12- When Indians wanted to open up casinos, which would compete with his casinos, he took out ads stating that "...Indian record of criminal activity is well documented" and that "organized crime is rampant" on Indian reservations. 13- "Pocahontas" 14- Referring to a Hispanic Miss Universe contestant as "Miss Housekeeping" 15- Wondering, out loud, why a Korean-American intelligence analyst was working on Pakistan policy and not North Korea policy. I'm sure there are other examples out there. You can dismiss, or excuse away any or all of them. But to others, the pattern is quite clear. "-1 points
