Maybe it's just the times in which we live, but is anyone else bothered about the posting/airing of accident footage before the next of kin notification and initial investigation process can take place? Prayers and well wishes to the Buccaneers, their families, and anyone else who straps in and puts it on the line.9 points

I am going to retire in 2 years. I told leadership I am not doing ACSC because my parents and old lady are more important. My parents won't be on this earth forever and after 17 years of service, I owe them for my success. My next duty title will be far above my peers: Wing FGO Snacko Supreme. I feel like I get to walk away from the AF on top. A friend of mine was picked up for ACSC in residence and he walked out the door to a flying job with UPS. Talking about a serious mic drop....5 points

Huggy. I've spent the last 7.5 years deliberating and waiting for life to slow down so I can build my RV-7. I waited so long that eventually the -14 was introduced and I was quickly sold on it. When my profit sharing check showed up a couple of months ago, my wife told me to buy the dam tail kit already (she's a keeper!); guess she got tired of my constant yapping about it. I went to the Vans factory last month as well and got the full tour and RV-14A flight. Having flown in -6, -7, -8, and now the -14, I have a decent ability to compare them. Of course, I am now building the -14 so I am a little biased. The best way to think about the -14 is "2 seat RV-10 capable of gentlemans aero, and builds more like a -12." It is by far the best to sit in for room/comfort and has great visibility with the lowered longerons (-8 would be close). It's very light and nimble but also very well balanced. The -10 airfoil used was a great choice (just shorter span) for cross country or IFR. Also, the usable load is insane. You can almost always take full fuel and load- literally two hop across the country if you can sit for that long. Usable load for aero is great as well, especially compared to -6/-4. It's a hot rod like any RV. The throaty -390 lifts the -14 off the ground as fast as you can gently apply full power. I swear within seconds of leveling off at 2500 we were already doing 150+. My plan is to fly with Mrs. Wonderful Wifey all over the country and then beyond. She would absolutely appreciate the difference between the -7 and -14A. I also want to be able to introduce people to basic aero (loops, rolls, Cuban-8's, etc). If you're thinking about the -14 you will not be disappointed. The quality of the kit components and instructions are incredible. My hold up will be waiting for money as opposed to time. As my project gets underway, you're more than welcome to come visit. I'm up the road in Truckee. Cheers! (Pic of -14 and -14A)4 points

ANGI36-2005 Chapter 2 2.8 Don't take the F*ing ASVAB. Jesus, it infuriates me recruiters don't know this stuff when it's their job. It took me less than 60 GD seconds to bing that.3 points

I’m sorry, but didn’t the AF just announce they are devaluing PME completion in order to complete it at a time of your choosing. Also, what about the policy two years ago of officers who are selects not being able to sign up for correspondence until they were picked up for a school, which didn’t offer JPME credit. It it makes me sick to think douchnozzles who completed ACSC but suck as pilots would make it over those who are stone cold killers, but didn’t have the time because they were focused on their core job. We have truly lost what is important.3 points

I may be a little older than the rest here, but airing tragic video is nothing new. Kennedy assassination, Reagan attempted assassination (as a young kid, I remember watching the initial “NBC News Special Report” as it happened), that politician that blew his head off on live TV, Challenger explosion, United 232, Columbia disaster, 9/11 attacks... all of those victims had loved ones too. And America was glued to the TV for all of those tragedies; most aired live as they happened. As disrespectful as airing accident video might be to surviving family members, it’s nothing new and spans back decades. Condolences to the victims, families, friends and squadron mates of yesterday’s mishap.2 points

ACSC was totally worthless. SHACK That said, it’s not all that time consuming if you can fog a mirror. This mindset is feeding the AF machine in a negative way. Rationalizing "worthless" tasks is EXACTLY the reason we are all stuck in this sinking ship. I was able to knock out most of the self paced classes in well under 2 hours, and the group classes took an average of maybe 6-9 hours spread over a couple weeks. Congrats.2 points

Fair enough. I’d argue you’re not a lemming if you do what you know is right.1 point

As a young CGO my Sq/CC told me to do SOS in correspondence in order to compete for a In-Res slots because "The shoe clerks have this game figured out." BTW, the CGOC President had a seat in the wing staff meeting at the time. After he said that it all started to make sense, just look at the promotion rates of flyers vs. non-flyers recently. Don't get me wrong, I am not defending the system. But we, as pilots, have lost control of the AIR FORCE.1 point

Yes, I think it's absolutely uncalled for, but death and karnage is what sells news and jacks up the ratings. The media has no morals. I've seen several videos like this over the years and I'm sure everyone in this community will agree that seeing something like this sends chills up your spine. I've sat through several bone-chilling privileged mishap animations that bothered me for a really long time and these weren't even friends or family members. This would definitely not be something I'd want to come across on some news website before (or after) I found out it was a loved one.1 point

Based on the rate LtCols are getting out, we're gonna need more, not less.1 point

If your retiring in two years then you’re in different place than younger FGO’s. Enjoy Snacko, the ole’ 10-2 workday with two days a month restocking your goods, enjoy [emoji106]1 point

When you say you went to Wright-Patt, did you get your physical at the medical center or in Bldg 840 over in area B? If you were seen at 840, there is no need to return. Everything would have been done at one time.1 point

Basically what I'm gathering is that people think it's a horrible deal because Iran got some things out of it. But honestly that's what deals are. You can't just have one side getting everything they want and nothing for the other and call it a deal. Good or bad though, tearing it up would be worse. Diminishing Iran's capability to enrich uranium so that their breakout time is 10 years is a lot better than NOT diminishing that capability. We're better off now than we were a couple years ago when their breakout time was a few months. Furthermore, if the deal is torn up then who the hell would want to trust us in negotiations any more? Kim Jong Un could pull the plug on everything that's going on because he might figure the next president will just undo the whole thing in 3 or 7 years. There's nothing wrong with trying to make amendments, but throwing the baby out with the bathwater will be awful for countless reasons.1 point

Are you going AD or Guard/Reserve? The other part of the physical is called MFS (Medical Flight Screening). If you're going AD, it's standard to do MFS after OTS but before starting UPT, so it shouldn't affect your eligibility to go to OTS. If you're going Guard/Reserve, they usually knock out everything all at the same time at Wright-Patt I believe (before OTS).1 point

Was there anything new in the presentation? Everything I've seen in open source reporting is we already knew this information, whether Iran admitted to it or not, and this was all prior to the agreement. Since then they are meeting every requirement in the deal. So use the size 3500 font and simple 3 word sentences (gee I wonder who they are writing that for) all you want, it doesn't add anything significant to the discussion.1 point

Alright Buckley Hopeful/Hopeful/Business is gone. I appreciate those of you who contacted me. I will do my best to keep up with this, but I rarely view this part of the forum. Just let me know if something needs cleaning up.1 point

Meh, fuck 'em. If he's pissed enough, maybe they'll kick you out and you'll be happier at the airlines 5 years sooner. An OG getting butt hurt about something like this, and the fact you're fearful of reprisal, is messed up. Totally believable, but just plain wrong. SMH. We need better O-6s and above.1 point

KTIK? Well I'm going to assume this is the 552, so yes, you always did something wrong.1 point
