I wouldn’t read too much into anything besides this service is broken and incompetent.4 points

So now June 5 is the big day? Duck, I don't know you, but I haven't given this much of a shit about someone's career since my days of 5 minute e-mail refreshes during the 2014 VSP. I've said it before, but every time I come on here and see this thread at the top, I check it hoping for some good news for you, brother. Keep up the good fight.2 points

My favorite part about the 09’ fiasco is that the board didn’t have any PRFs and that whole 100% opportunity to promote. I guess this “simplification” made the board more difficult and time-consuming. I’m guessing they felt the need to sift through everyone's records, and disregard the “P” from the Wg/CCs. Oh, and our PRFs were written anyways. So much time saved.2 points

Go to ENJJPT for the aforementioned reasons of being universally assignable in a T-38. Not to shoot holes in your plan, but why do you want AFSOC? The espirit de corps of SOF? The reason I ask is because the 4 AFSOC assets are very different in their missions. I always tell guys to pick based on mission. If you want to haul trash and refuel helos, go MC-130. If you want to shoot a lot of bad guys and have a stroke herding cats, go AC-130. If you want to be viewed as an annoyance to leadership and loved by your user, go U-28. If you want to sit around, maintenance cancel, and get worshipped, go CV-22. TL;DR: Pick based on mission, not MAJCOM.1 point

maybe waingro is said senator?! like the 76ers current president ghost running 5 twitter accounts? https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/23648754/philadelphia-76ers-investigating-alleged-social-media-use-team-president-bryan-colangelo1 point

Why would you downvote this Waingro? If this story of a senator doing harm to a great Officers career because of a personal vendetta, this needs to be out there. *caveat* I know nothing other than several people saying this guy is a great dude and a senator screwed him. He may be a huge POS for all I know. But as a tax payer, if someone that’s a talented Officer is being stymied and weakening the AF as a result, that’s corruption and collusion and I want to know about it.1 point

The two month gap between when SecAF had the board results until they were finally reported into OSD? No idea. I know it's not just my opinion that the Air Force is the worst service when it comes to discussing their issues with the rest of the world.1 point

A guaranteed T-38 slot makes you universally assignable in theory. The T-1 closes doors. Edit: ENJJPT from USAFA is solely about grades, it has nothing to do with pilot skill.1 point

Obama's 'pen and phone' set the landscape for what Democrats fear most from the current administration. Perhaps the greatest lesson both parties should learn from Obama is that the pen of executive fiat is always inherited with an equally potent eraser. Arduous though it is, bipartisan compromise is almost always the better path to lasting change.1 point

And they wonder why there is a retention problem. Instead of remedying actually broken things, they break things and then attempt to fix what they just broke.1 point

Again, if it's it's "drastic" to undo what Obama did then logically that means that what Obama did in the first place was also "drastic". Unless you're just arguing that what Obama did was good and Trump undoing it is bad--which just means that you're a partisan or an ideologue, you tell me. So once again I ask: What has Trump done that is "sooo far to the right"? Undoing what Obama did just means we go back to pre-2008, so how is that going "far to the right" if Bush was a centrist as you say? Be specific instead of just complaining that he is undoing Obama's executive orders, which by design, are meant to be changed with each President...because let's not pretend that the next Presifent who is a democrat won't likewise undo everything Trump has done. Dude, I get it--you didn't vote for him and you don't like him.1 point

This seems like the perfect venue to get the actual story out there and get some Senator to do the right thing/be revealed as a dipshit. Who was the Senator?1 point

Going down the same road as Pawnman, could it be that a majority of the public realizes that a minority of the population is shouldering the burden of military service and would like to acknowledge that service and sacrifice through whatever means they can? WW2 involved almost everyone, few were sheltered from it, so it was shared sacrifice with everyone in the same boat. Now, not so much.1 point

I'm not sure what I disagree with, other than you claim the point everyone on the board thinks you are making isn't the point you are making. The fact that so few people understand what you are trying to say tells me the problem lies with how you are attempting to communicate, not with the majority of the listeners. Frankly, I think we've got bigger problems than upgrades to first class and 10% discounts at home improvement stores and restaurants. You're the one that started with this "jumped the shark" thing, not me. The Air Force and by extension the American Taxpayer have taken a lot from me...missed birthdays, anniversaries, Christmases and Thanksgivings. So pardon me if I don't weep tears or refuse to take the small pieces of gratitude that they are willing to extend. It makes them feel better, it makes my life just a tiny bit easier. Win-win. As to your point about WWII vets...of course they didn't feel the need to talk about their experiences. Everyone they would have talked about their experiences with had either served, was related to someone who served, or was close friends with someone who served. And their reluctance to talk is starting to take a toll as those stories and history are disappearing forever. Add to that the fact that the opening days of OIF and OEF were almost completely lacking documentation until 2008, and I'd actually argue the other side - we need MORE people willing to talk about their experiences, not less. You want to bring accountability to the use of force? Bring home the sacrifice and the cost of using the military to a civilian populace that's almost completely detached? Well, the way to do that isn't to shut up and deny all association with the military. It's to tell the stories and connect those civilians with what we're asking the military to do.1 point

Probably not many rated people. We can't even release people from my community to do "high-priority" staff jobs or other gigs (like the financial leadership thing). Can't imagine they'll release you to not fill a billet for three years.1 point

As a father of 3 who did the whole have a child while in UPT thing and then went on multiple deployments with young kids, I can’t advise to do the UPT without the family thing. I also did a tour as a UPT IP and saw the long distance relationship thing multiple times. That is a ton of stress to put on a wife and a young child. I don’t think you realize just how busy you are gonna be for 2+ years. Just wait till something goes wrong at home and you can’t be there to handle it because you are in Del Rio. My suggestion is that you guys go all in and do it as a family or don’t do it at all.1 point
