  1. How about no more PT uniform. Just wear your civilian gym clothes, or you’re grandpa jeans and kitty ear hat. No one gives a shit. One less thing to dig out of the closet for the annual pt test or ‘stan deployment.

  2. No. Just don't have a board do it. The Air Force still hasn't learned that you can't lead by committee...this is how we get things like terrible PT gear and reversing the patches on the OCPs from the flight suit AND from the current AFGSC guidance.

  4. USAF PT shirts should also sit in the back of one's closet 364 days out of the year...

  6. Voter-verified paper ballots is something no reasonable person should disagree with. In my prior life before the Air Force (and before I became a Democrat) I was an Early/Absentee ballot judge and Republican precinct chair in a medium population county in TX (~250,000 county residents). I went to meetings with county officials each election cycle along with representatives from the Democrats... And this was one thing everyone agreed upon. I can't even think of a reason for manufacturers of electronic voting machines to disagree since it gives them an opportunity to charge more for a Print feature! Blows my mind it isn't standard. (I vote by paper absentee ballot every two years anyway, so G2G.)

  8. A new service coat is long overdue. The current design sucks and is stupid looking. I'd love to go back to the coat we had in the early 90s or something with heritage. The business suit look is lame.

  9. Pardon me if I refrain from rejoicing until we see how bad of an abortion the replacement system will be. Oh wait, it’ll probably take 10 years until it actually comes online. I’ll be well into my post AF career at Home Depot by that point while they take another 5 years to work out the lowest-bidder, “wasn’t in the contract requirements” bugs.

  10. Are you trying to talk about the guys who wore the same uniform as their assigned unit but had a big JTAC patch and a radio strapped to them? The ABU was terrible in the field and should not have been worn in combat as it melts to you. As cubicle camouflage, fine whatever.

  11. You have a hard on for uniforms? What new material is going into the service dress uniforms? Ability to repel coffee, ink, and stains encountered at the chow hall or in an office? You're talking to someone who watched his father wear BDUs for 20+ years of which I wore them for 5+ years. Our uniforms are not the reason why we partly struggled in Afghanistan and Iraq with insurgents. Uniforms don't stop snipers, IEDs, or VBEDs. The Marines have the cheapest uniforms but they outlasted all the other services in combat and proved to be far more useful. You have my vote of confidence for BODN's first Uniform Board President position.

  12. Champ I agree, we have other things to worry about than what the service dress will be since we rarely wear it. But if we are going to change it bring back the old school style jackets, in either the older bluish grey that the AF started out with or the Pink and greens old school AAC style. While the older blue one wouldn’t require as much change for most of us anyway if we keep the same blue shirt as well Now we do have something to complain about the pt shirts. They do suck and should have been made out of a wicking fabric a LONG time ago.

  13. As an aviator he is legit, as a combat leader he was beyond legit. I know Boomer very well and had hoped he would be more effective at turning the ship. A year after he took over we were having a private conversation. We we talked about some of the changes, somethings that had yet to change and some recent buffoonery including silly shit like SECAF puking all over a Tbird. I think I said something to the effect of "how can you let some of these things happen?" He took a breath and replied "CH, you would be surprised how little power I actually have." I'm not trying to defend him, just saying we need to keep the context of the political climate and political beasts that actually run the show. Maybe if a few of these four stars spoke out and fell on their swords it might be different...but I've yet to see anyone with the selfless stones to do it.

  17. My mother works in Hospice care at a major assisted living center. Medicare is spending truck loads of money to basically keep people from dying today instead of next week. Part of it is the completely lack of oversight on spending like giving a healthy donor heart to an 85 year old instead of anybody else. The other bigger part is families not ready to let mom go to the point it’s cruel. Have you ever seen a full code before like in real life and not on TV? It is violent. It is destructive. CPR breaks ribs on healthy people... and you’re doing it to a 91 lbs frail 80 year old who will spend the next few months dying slowly in massive amounts of drug washed pain, because we as a society won’t accept death is a natural and sometimes correct state.

  20. This reminds me of last time we deployed. We took a 777 contracted rotator out to the desert. All of us were waiting for hours of course in the pax terminal. There was this sadistic Lt Col who was the deployment office chief. She shrieked at us every 15 minutes about her arbitrary Nazi rules of when we could use the bathroom and get water, over the course of 3-4 hours. I’m not exaggerating when I say this lady’s yelling voice would make that Frau chick on Austin Powers cringe. Finally, it was time to board. She said she’d board us by rank. Lt Cols first, then Majors. Us Captains figured we were next so we got ready. Then a twist. Airmen next. Then NCOs. Then SNCOs. Ok, whatever lady, just let us on the damn plane so we can go to our desert paradise already. Nope. Lts next. Now it’s just the Captains. When it’s just us and her, she gives us her SJW speech. She says we are the group that typically comes first in the AF, so she boarded the plane to take care of the ranks that are typically not taken care of. She said we should be happy to board last and take the worst seats. After being locked in a warehouse for 4 hours needlessly, none of us were really in a mood for a lecture, but whatever. We finally board the buses to the plane. When we walk on the plane, the flight attendants point us towards first class. The contract airline has a policy of filling the plane back to front. So us entitied Captains all rode first class the whole way to the desert. Best case of instant justice I’ve seen. Though I’ve always regretted not taking a picture of all us Captains in first class and sending it to her with a thank you card.

  24. Guess I'll be the only person who supports and thinks going back to something we had before McPeak is a good idea™. As someone who led Airman and had to wear the Service dress 4+ more times a year, going back to the 4 pockets I saw growing up would be fantastic. It's kinda legit heritage. Imagine if we get back to the Hap Arnold symbol with this leadership crew. Would you all complain that's a waste too? Sure, there's other things to focus on as well. But it's not like you're going to pull someone out of the uniform board, tell them to retain more Airmen and it'll have an impact.
