  2. There are obviously going to be unflyable jets at any location. I believe it is unreasonable to expect that a Wing can Hurrivac 100% of their jets.

  3. Some good changes coming wrt PRFs and OPRs outta Corona.... the table was slapped, but the timeline wasn't determined, so hold on to your butts. 1. Two line PRFs. It was determined through survey that the majority of board and MLR members use the top and bottom lines to make their determination.... So they're moving on that - two lines is all you get. If you've seen the form for command consideration, it's similar. Line 1: this dude is great because reasons. Line 2: #x of XX, absolutely promote etc. 2. Strats on OPRs are going away (like EPRs) - instead they are replaced with a by-commander recorded top-middle-bottom designation (or like the army, above, in, below center of mass), with a redesign of the form. Commanders ratings of their people will be tracked, so they only get X amount of each rating and if commanders are grading heavier or too light that will be recorded and reported at THEIR next promotion board... Undetermined: timeline for implementation, mainly because this style of rating is going to drive toward rating all of each rank at the same time, which is going to cause thrash as it did on the E side. 4. As an Air Force aviator, I enjoy the heritage of my service and that includes being a bag wearer. Thanks for your input; and have fun shitting in the woods in your OCP’s

  5. Was there last month on an overnight. Old pile of rocks on some premium downtown real estate. A forgettable experience. 1 star.

  6. Air Force decides to cut its losses with Tyndall.... Tyndall foot print to be moved to new location to support mission..... Panel of experts chooses (after way too much political participation) Patrick AFB to receive most of Tyndall’s mission.... Billions spent to renovate Patrick housing and infrastructure reestablishung it as an active duty base..... 2022 Hurricane Season hits and rocks the everloving piss out of Titusville (almost happened multiple times when I lived there). ”God Dammit that’s Twice! Why the F didn’t we go to god damned Moody or something.....”

  8. In AFSOC at least we have had the option for 2-piece multicam flight suits for a long time. After working exercise plans for a little while, we ended up giving guys the gouge that on a CONUS exercise, it was smart to wear bags as the crew. When one of the team dudes comes into the planning room and wants to talk to the Air Force guys, the bags make it a lot clearer who that is. Personally I see the upside to the 2-piece and have enjoyed the benefits of the Billy Badass combat shirts and quick access for times when ordnance needs to make an emergency egress while deployed. That being said, they can take my green bags from my cold dead hands. Looking cool (and sounding cool on the radio) is at least 69% of the job of an aviator and I won’t have it any other way. If I wanted to join the Army I would have just eaten a few more crayons as a toddler 😎

  9. This kinda highlights SECDEF's recent letter to USAF and USN to availability of F-22, -35, -16, -18 up to 80% by next October. Stats on article I read had F-22 at 49% or so. Explains why more than 1-2 were nonflyable at KPAM plus the much more violent hit from the storm than was expected only 36 hours prior. So the week long warning was misleading. Still needed to buy more F-22s then. Thanks Bob Gates!👍

  10. Someone should tell the Generals.. it doesn’t matter if they fix this problem, the trust has been lost a thousand times over. I’m not affected by these ADSC shenanigans, but I’m on the lookout for the next time the Air Force will try to screw its personnel over without any of the Generals knowing about it.. allegedly that is.

  11. Man, I hope you're kidding, otherwise I must be way out on the bell curve if that's what I'm supposed to worry about. I don't GAF what's on my retirement dec. I hope it says, "Did some cool shit. Learned a lot and improved what he could. Still married. Loves his kids. Good luck." I guess that wouldn't get past CCE, huh?

  12. How does a prior-MWS guy who still has 3+ years left on their initial 10 year ADSC 7-day opt out of going to Laughlin? By the way, I know for a fact that MWS guys are going to Laughlin. Stop talking out of your ass or relaying information from guys talking out of their ass.

  13. Same could be said for a lot of bases, if that hurricane went 60 miles west, Hurlburt and Eglin (and pcola) would be leveled. We had several tornados when I was at CBM that missed base by a few miles, I’m sure Vance has been in the same boat. Altus is right there, Lots of areas are subject to natural disaster, south has the Hurricanes and long track Tornados, mid west tornados, west coast has wild fires. I would say the safest areas of the nation natural disaster wise are the upper mid west, inland areas of the northwest, and inland areas of northeast. All areas we have few bases.

  14. I just want to stop writing my own OPRs since I’m passed over enough times to never get promoted again. Because that would be better that the waste of text that they are with no push line since they’ll never get me promoted.

  15. Rumor out of Corona is this was discussed in detail and ADSCs for advanced flying training are going away as a result. Not sure on the timeline, but AFPC has for implementation. Logic: atrocious numbers of dudes balking at upgrade over the three year ADSC requirement, and most of them are or are going to be under an ADSC for PCS anyway, so why are they being forced to sign paperwork that's ultimately hurting combat readiness ? We shall see I guess.... Chuck

  17. Always wondered how the USAF justifies basing just about all of the E-3 fleet in the heart of tornado alley. All it takes is one bad afternoon... ...granted half the fleet is deployed or TDY somewhere, but still.

  18. It’s been said before but we just didn’t build enough -22s. 3 damaged from that article, plus the gear up incident at Fallon earlier this year. That’s a 4 ship out of commission, probably for years. I’m sure there’s others I’m not thinking about/aware of.

  20. Glue... Marines eat Crayons. We ate glue. And we don’t have any trouble telling who “the air force guys” are. Cmon guys it’s not like we can’t all pick each other out in a group with at least 3/5 accuracy. Hell I can about figure it out just by what watch when everybody is just wearing different colors of the same slack/polo combo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. I’ll say this, in a room full of people, you used to be able to tell the difference between PJs, Army guys, intel guys, etc. Now you have to get closer to look at their patches and talk to them, ugh

  24. It’s the Army. More specifically it’s the conventional Army. You seem to be mistaken as to where Aviations pecking order is on divisional decision making. Even here at Campbell in the vaunted Air Assault divisions back yard where aviation is a pivotal part in their mission set they take a back seat to ground people making ground decisions. You ever paint your face in a field site sitting next to a 50 foot long aircraft hidden from nobody? Because I have. It’s stupid as hell, but it’s what the head master wants. Anybody in the Army that thinks somehow that’s gonna change with the addition of a uniform we’ve been there and done that with is horribly misinformed and would do well to listen to the voices of experience that can tell it like it was. Instead we will do what we always do, get something new, go back on our promises, and bitch about it on the back of end. Best thing for Army aviators to do is just enjoy the flight pay, or go non conventional. Assessments run every 2-4 weeks, show up in shape. This culture will not get better. And yes, being able to take a crap without downloading all my kit is more important to me than playing dress up and looking cool for 14 year olds at the PX, because let’s face it outside work I’m not wearing work clothes. Far and above more important than that, the new flight kit that replaces air warrior... needs you to be wearing a two piece flight suit. I’ll gladly trade a onesie to not have to wear air warrior anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
