Oh it’s all good! I’ve been in for 13 (prior-service) and have been pretty fortunate throughout my career. I probably won’t reapply, but who knows. Seriously, good luck everyone! The wait is almost over.4 points

We gave out 1 fighter every other class in 2007, and not many more in 2008 because AFPC said we had too many fighter pilots. Fast forward 10 years and we have a shortage. No idea how this could have happened.3 points

Sounds like it is time to turn in daily local vouchers for mileage. $68.48 a day round trip for 128 miles a day.2 points

Ask McConnell. All hell will break loose when the TSA folks miss their first check. The can only make ends meet so much by stealing shit out of my bags, and confiscating the good stuff at security lines.1 point

Thanks, all. Logic prevailed. According to the JTR, your AO has the discretion to approve TDYs outside of the PDS but within the “local area.” There is a DODI that defines both for DC. The NCR is considered the PDS and that includes just a few counties around DC. The local area includes most of Maryland, much of Virginia, and even a few counties in West Virginia.1 point

I was talking to my buddy who is a MPS flt/cc and he told me the process. AFPC sends the results to FSS via vMPF secure. Once they get it they push it out to commanders, then the cc's notify us. He said nothing has been posted in vMPF secure yet so that's why we haven't received any news. The people who have already found out probably have a CC who knows somebody. There's still time today but my guess is it won't be uploaded until next week.1 point

That is your ADSC for PCSing. You will always* get a 2 year ADSC for pcsing.1 point

There would not be anything in the system yet. The ADSC date with PCS is your service commitment from when you PCSed to your current location.1 point

Are you sure your CC wasn't looking at the test pilot board results?1 point

Your numbers are pretty close. Brabus is right about the flight pay, I think the old 650 went to 700 and the old 840 went to 1,000 (could be wrong). If you want to really fine tune your numbers, orders less than 30 days get you BAH type II (might be 30 days or less). At a minimum, as a part time Guard guy I get 111 pay periods a year. 48 UTA, 48 AFTPs and 15 AT days. If you become a technician then you only get 36 AFTPs. How you use your days is something of an art and may vary depending on your squadron. In my squadron we pretty much manage them all ourselves as our leadership let's us use our days how we see fit (within the law). I rarely, if ever, go into work without logging 2 pay cards. If I'm going to the base, I'm going to make a day of it and log 2. There once was rumblings of using 1/day and the part time mafia just LOL'd. AFTPs. 16/qtr max up to 48/yr. Since they're restricted quarterly I always use these up first, even if it's UTA weekend. I generally use the max in each quarter then start using UTAs to fill in the short fall. This usually leaves the 4th quarter of no AFTPs and all UTAs. Obviously that gets balanced out on years where I have a deployment. UTAs can be used anytime in the year, except while on orders. There used to be a WOM that if you were on orders for a month, you lost that months UTAs unless you had already used them. This led guys to using up that months UTAs before the orders started. I don't believe it's actually true, but I still try to use them before any known orders because who knows. AFTPs can be used on TDYs in lieu of orders (with some restrictions), however UTAs generally can't unless there is TAG to TAG approval (never have seen that in 17+ years in the ANG). AT can be used pretty much whenever throughtout the year. I usually use them for one of the many TDYs we may do in a year. That said if it's early in the year and someone else is willing to cough up ST (special training) days, I'll use those if able. That way I'll still have my hip pocket AT days available. Many years you'll see that close to the end of the FY a bunch of AT days show up. There are a few nuances with using more than 15 AT in a year, but nothing big. As an airline guy in a guard fighter squadron, I find it hard to actually use up all the pay periods available due to TDYs, deployments, the airline and actually having a life. Each month I normally work 8 pay periods in 4 days...some months more but no more than 5 days/month unless TDY. If I do get to use all 111 of them, as a major (17 years), I expect about 30K gross (min). That said, due to deployments, TDYs, etc...I've rarely dropped below 50K/yr. 2018 was a 3 month deployment plus a single 2 week TDY and I think I grossed 65k. Best of luck, I've been in the ANG for almost 18 years and I'm still learning about all the pay statuses we have available. With the exception of technician, I've been in pretty much every pay cateogry we have....AT/ST/UTA/AFTP/ADOS/AGR/ADSW. I've deployed overseas with another squadron and have sat alert with other squadrons. Even went TDY with my squadron while on alert orders with another squadron...talk about blowing finances mind!1 point

So the current line of thinking is that ethics scholars are going this direction and actually questioning civilian immunity entirely. Basically, modern theorist question how separate military and civilian institutions really are. Would POTUS as commander in chief be a valid target? Most of us agree its ok to schwack a Taliban bomb maker with an MQ-9 on his way home from work. How many people agree that it would be ok to schwack a civilian Raytheon employee on his way home from the hellfire assembly? So like I said in the last 20 years a lot of this has shifted but by and large it was hugely taboo in the 80s-90s.1 point

Had a Finance SSgt go above and beyond for perhaps the first time in Finance history. He just...did everything for me, and it was magical. He created my CTW worksheet for me and uploaded it into DTS, doped out my per diem for an upcoming TDY even though it had to be broken into different amounts about 69 times on the same voucher due to stupid rules, AND he told me to just email him my lodging receipts directly while I'm traveling and he'd take care of attaching them to my voucher and updating the per diem and etc. Also showed me the details of the exact schedule of partial payments that I can expect. Bravo Finance SSgt, for today you were a true American hero* 🍺 *I retain the right to revoke all praise if I'm not actually paid as fragged and in a timely manner1 point

We actually agree. I'm not a Trump the man fan per se. I do like very much what he represents and what he accomplished in upsetting Washington on both sides. I've stated it multiple times before - he beat 16 other run of the mill and/or RINO Republicans, then he beat Hillary. Why is that? Washington, on both sides, didn't like the fact that the plebes upset their collective applecart and are reacting to that 'outrage.' It has been amusing/saddening to see the true intentions/character/actions of the NeverTrumpers and the Republican leadership as well as the Democrats' going full retard in blind opposition (when this is probably the guy to do a deal with). To wit, with the House and the Senate, the GOP refused to repeal Obamacare, among other issues, that they swore, repeatedly, was their priority. They had their chance, for two years, and refused to do so, because they lied repeatedly. If he's allowed to succeed, massive character flaws and all, then the DC good times are jeopardized for a long while, not just this anomaly that thus far has caused the Weekly Standard to go belly-up along with the cushy editorial jobs/TV appearances. So, I want Trump to succeed. Not to stroke his massive, yet curiously fragile, ego, but to demonstrate that the great unwashed masses still run the show, not the select few, or as stated above, "Those in society, who’s opinions matter on the topic." I want to believe that my opinion matters. And I want my children to have that opportunity as well.1 point

Leave it to the government to give us all a travel card that charges fees for foreign currency conversion. Isn’t the point of a travel card to avoid fees like that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
