Well, this must be the first time that someone who reads Baseops.net has been the subject of a roiling speculative discussion about some publicly embarrassing, scandalous event that happened to them, and that person has had to just sit back and watch the spears get baselessly thrown around. I don't know anyone who has had that experience.7 points

Hell that Rogoway probably gets off to this forum. Bet he has a great, “I woulda been a fighter pilot but...” story. Now he spends his time writing broad stroke factually incorrect aviation articles inbetween creating dirty tissues and Microsoft flight sim. I respect all that I work with that is the common respect men and women in uniform should extend each other as we are in this together for the greater good of something better than all of us. Sis don’t know what ya did and unless it’s going to come out in a safety brief don’t care to hear about it, her stardom probably had more to do with public affairs and others than her jumping into the spotlight. We all have seen good dudettes hit with that before. Maestro video had already been debriefed no way should be coming up again. As lord ratner pointed out we are in the business of killing people and if that offends the outside masses that stumble upon it then let me recap some of my deployment high lights the last 8 years see if that makes ya feel better. Chances are the offended are more apt to be ignorant and comy at home drinking shitty lattes. Political correctness can suck it and we as professionals should have the backs of or fells bros and bras until they have violated our trust and bond.6 points

This nerd Rogoway’s touching himself to the idea that he got this O-6 to have to close the loop with him.5 points

Eh. He seems like a great dude, but he's also enabling a narrative that offense alone justifies the punishment. If he really got career-ending paperwork, that means an LOR. The same punishment given for sleeping with a maintainer, abusing the GTC, DUI (in the old days)... All because we are now supposed to pretend that we all subscribe to this new definition of political correctness, we all feel so bad for the things we said in jest amongst friends, we all care more about hurt feelings than being in a job dedicated to murdering foreigners who want to murder us. He works with a surprising number of O-6s and O-7s who have DUIs. So it shouldn't be that shocking he recovered from making a harmless video with a penis puppet. The real question is would any of his subordinates recover in today's Air Force? Probably not. But we got from then to now thanks to two decades of military leaders pretending that humor, drinking, youthful stupidity, sex, and bravado are mutually exclusive to training idealistic young adults to dedicate their lives to a profession rooted in death.5 points

Well, I'm against it just like I was when Obama did it, and Rand Paul issued a statement that he's displeased with the way Congress signed a thousand page bill into law overnight with no public scrutiny AND the President's intent to declare a national emergency to circumvent Congress. So... At least one lawmaker is sticking to his principles.3 points

People are not the sum of their mistakes, they're the sum of their experiences. Great read and honestly I can see why people speak so highly of him. I just hope he remembers when he got a second chance and, if possible depending on why she was removed, pays it forward to SiS.2 points

Good read... I understand why so many vouch for him as a bro, pilot, and commander.2 points

It's important to have role models. A young girl can see it's possible to be an Air Force pilot when she thinks it's a male only career field.2 points

That PR stunt is what is wrong with the Air Force and society. If women are equal to and as capable as men, then why does this warrant celebration?2 points

So all that to say she still had a classified server that was illegal, nice.2 points

HS2020 is not completely wrong wrt the hiding out comment. How many dudes do you know that got hired, consolidated then bounced to 2-5 years of orders? Guys that can't be bothered most of the year, but have no issues finding themselves some orders during the holiday season? Or never providing scheduling solid days of availability, but they sure know that they'll be out on 22Dec so they can drop that Christmas trip? That said, in my experience, some of the loudest full time airline bashers end up twice as bad once they themselves found an airline gig. I too was junior in the "lost decade." The only cycle I've see in my 18 years is a steady decline that seems to be continually picking up steam on its way down the hill. Things ARE worse and I'd venture to guess those types would still complain if they needed to come back on orders. Having a job where shit just works and you get paid properly/on time has a way of doing that to a person.1 point

Actually he is (not even close to a conservative - but maybe partially a modern day repub). We're screwed from everywhere. As mentioned if Congress had the stones to do their job and if the Prez had the stones to veto a bill he didn't want, we'd all be better off. At least then the government would be doing its job as far as process anyway.1 point

The mil gig kept people alive during the rough times, but it's a different ARC than it was 15-20 years ago. A lot of the dudes who had their bacon saved when they were furloughed after 9/11 were from the good old days when the Guard and Reserves were a flying club and we only went to places like Guam, Pisa, Cypress, Curacao.... you know, the real "rough" ones. Those were the times you could have fun and get a little stupid without it ending up on FaceBook a day later because one of your brown-nosing unit mates wanted to play buddyf#cker. Those were the days when straw after straw after straw breaking the camel's back didn't exist. Most of those dudes have since retired. Those are the ones, some of them at least, who managed to walk away with an AD retirement, an ART retirement AAAAAAAAAAAND walked right back into decent seniority and a $200,000 per year job. I know at least a half dozen guys like this from the lost decade who did very well for themselves while guys like me waited for a full time job at the unit. Timing is everything. I am in "ghost mode" now. I go to the unit a few times a month, get my shit done to stay off the bad boy lists, but for the most part, I try to spend very little time there. I think it's a case of senioritis, but with first year pay at $90+ an hour these days, fortunately I don't need the extra cash... just a few more good year's worth of points.1 point

Would be less likely to ballwalk if the ARC could get a handle on paying people correctly and in a timely manner without having the member waste multiple days trying to get it unfucked. I know, I know. Too much to ask.1 point

I think it’s a terrible idea. This is what happens with divided government, everyone has to compromise. If he hated the funding bill so much, he should have the stones to veto it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Those are not real blondes. Break break--- I think its clear southwest is the pack leader when it comes to MLOA friendly ops. Some of the stuff I've been recently made privy to is straight up burger king. Good on 'em. Also, I personally love the insta switch from some airline guys the second they make a nickle more per credit hour than their mil gig. To quote an old ART buddy of mine : "you know, for the best job in the world, these mother----- sure spend a lot of time hiding here.." . I think peter gave Jesus a better treatment than some of these guys do their squadron pay people the day after that 2nd year longevity pay anniversary lol. I still remember the lost decade, so I'm naturally inclinded not to ballwalk around a job that kept people paid during a trough, but to each their own.1 point

The Blues are still flying their practice season as a 6-ship. Therefore, Blue Angel 1-6 have probably not been suspended. There are other officers on the Blues. Your conclusion that it is an enlisted member has no basis... assuming the article is even correct. Have you been on a demo team, or in any way been involved in the production of an airshow? I'm guessing not. That said, it would be unfair to assume these events are related based on what has been reported. By all accounts, SiS is a fine fighter pilot who has done a lot more for her country than most will ever consider. Irrespective of what happened... short of her murdering someone... I'd put her head and shoulders above Hillary, AOC, Kamala, Mazie Hirono, and a host of others that we read about daily. Be glad you're not the one in the spotlight.1 point

Too bad we don’t have people “minimizing” any crime we might commit. HRC got away with things we would not. https://www.dailywire.com/news/43399/new-emails-confirm-fbi-tried-work-deal-state-dept-james-barrett1 point

Maybe they’ve reformed since... My experience with First Command was them giving us their pitch as we started UPT. As I looked at their numbers, it was clear that they were only interested in soaking as many butter bars sitting with me in the room as possible. Compared to the vast selection of investment vehicles available in the world, the rates of commission and expense ratios that they were charging, amounted to a loan shark diversifying into the whole life insurance sector. Suddenly their uncanny ability to attract the talents of so many retired senior officers made a lot of sense.1 point

Really sorry to see SiS relieved. Post the video. If he doesn’t like it and cannot laugh about it, too bad. And post part 2... too.1 point

This is exactly what I have seen in AFRC the last couple of years. Once guys hit 2nd year airline pay, the reserve job becomes a money loser - if you drop an airline trip for mil duty. If you do your mil job around your airline trips, sure you make that extra reserve money, but most guys would rather just have the time off. Plus, the general ass-pain of the reserve job wears on folks. Little things, like - logging into a computer: Insert CAC, wait 10 to 15 secs for the computer to recognize it. Enter PIN, wait 69 seconds. Here comes the stupid pop up, oh, here is another, and, another. Finally, after 5 minutes, there is the desktop screen, click on Outlook, it opens, updates mailbox, 3 minutes later you can read email, blah, blah, and on and on. Oh yeah! Don’t forget the self aid buddy care, fire extinguisher training, trafficking in human persons, unexploded ordnance, etc, the same exact BS briefings you have sat through over and over and over and....1 point

Anyone who get passed over, and can swing it, should leave for the ARC to get promoted. Too many silly games and half truths by commanders to stick around that swamp. I think your good deal train is over once that happens, maybe even a year or so before official notice. additionally, any officer can get a great job on the outside, your bullshit OPR and PRF looks really good on a civilian resume, they don’t know any different, at least most of them.1 point

Dude if those strats are middle of the road I must have been a turd burglar on active duty as a CGO! 🤣 #8/150 Majors is top 5% and now you’re “middle of the road?” The active duty rating system is broken for the 69% of dudes who are not shiny pennies nor bottom feeders. Dudes in that vast “middle of the road” have no idea where they stand and even worse, there is no real incentive to try harder when their fate is already likely sealed. Theres a big god damned difference beteeen 15th percentile and 85th percentile but hey, thanks for playing. I guess with manning almost everyone should be free to be continued at O4 indefinitely, but that’s cold comfort for many dudes who were thinking O5 was the “standard career.”1 point

Makes too much sense, and threatens the Marine's MEU woobie. They'll continue to prioritize protecting cultural norms and politics over fiscal responsibility and combat capability. The best way to resolve this problem for all is shitcan the B-model and buy the Marines light attack (boat capable) to replace Harriers. Everyone wins...which is why it won't happen.1 point

And the girl that falsely accused me of sexual assault lied on an official statement. Per the UCMJ, that's a max of five years in confinement and a dishonorable discharge for making a false official statement. Is she ever going to be punished for doing that? No, not even with me having a copy of her statement she lied on. Shit happens. You harping on how Hilary broke the law isn't going to get her in trouble, because, well the FBI said they aren't recommending charges. Plenty of people wanted Nixon to fry too and were nuclear mad that he got a pardon, but, I think that was the right thing to do because Ford had to heal the nation from a huge scandal. Cliff Notes: Life isn't far, it's tough, wear a helmet.-1 points
